Call of Duty "Has Ruined a generation of FPS Gamers"

Yes I guess I could agree with that how Call of duty makes you feel like your really good. But under the hood you can feel those training wheels at work that are guiding you along. The mainstream has voted with their money, they don't want realistic.

I never played any of the modern CoDs so i can't comment on it's gameplay...but as i've said before it does come off as the pop music of video games. it's accessible to the masses, easy for a chunk of people to get into and follow along and it might lack the depth of others but it provides the gist of what a lot of people want. it is what it is. i don't think tripwire should really give a shit about what CoD fans think since they hyped up ROHOS to be realistic, "the most realistic tank insides you've ever fucking seen in your life" kinda game. of course CoD people aren't gonna like it, well some of them might, but most aren't. shit i coulda told you that. if fuckin battlefield 3 was more realistic and not so micheal bay 3, i could see CoD players not liking it either. you make a niche game, you get a niche audience.

they need to stop worrying about ROHOS and start making me some killing floor 2. that's one game i'd like to work on.

Bullshit. If anything, HALO is responsible for ruining the CoD franchise in the first place.

edit: Also, KF2 Jizz-Bloats yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeauuuuuuuugh

I've never played a CoD game before however I enjoy unscripted games more than the linear, minimum freedom and pre-placed enemies crap.

NMRiH is a good example (of an unscripted game) it succeeds in enemy spawns that are pretty random and there aren't any cutscene like "LOOK AT DESE EXPLOSIONS AND SHIT BOYZ!" even though the level design is quite linear.

TL;DR I think unscripted games with freedom are more rewarding challenging and enjoyable (and quite frustrating at times) than heavily scripted games.

And yes I know that a TL;DR wasn't necessary it's just what I was trying to type came out disjointed and a little...not right.

Would it not be more so Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare onwards that ruined the series? like COD 1 & 2 were actually good games based on world war II.

No. CoD and CoD:UO were awesome. Every game from CoD2 and onwards had things like regenerating health and stupid. Because HALO.

I don't really have beef with CoD; their games are generally consistent and I loved the first two titles. What I don't like though, are the big Publisher companies whose shareholders only care about the LCD and want to reap maximum profit gain, regardless of the quality of the product

CoD would be fine if they released a new game every 2 to 3 years but Activision found out it generated big bucks with the release of #4 so they've decided to dilute the experience by releasing a new one every year (oh and they were one of the first few publishers to raise prices on our retail games from $49.99 to $59.99 just because lol)

Big publishers also don't really like to take risks; why make a revolutionary new IP which might tank when you can release a yearly installment for big money?

Yea, I heard that COD4 and previous were very good solid games. I had the chance to play MW2, which was ok I guess (nothing to exciting or interesting). Then from there on, seems to be a repacking of the previous game, few changes, hipped up like the one before, and costs the regular $60 everywhere. Younger generations of gamers come into this and fall into the trap, not realizing they are missing great titles that cost less and are much more enjoyable since you feel like you really did accomplish something (without auto-aim and other silly features).

So yes, I agree COD did wreck gaming (if not PC gaming). Greed took over the developers, and pushed out some of the most stupid titles that stupid people bought at a stupid price of $60.

Cod1 and UO actaully were most the cinematic FPS I ever played. srs.

I think cod has made it's name and paved the way for this onslaught of 'casual fps' crave mostly among consoles. I also think that the 'hardcore' cod players have also created a big-ego among the series, and most of us that have played real skilled fps or any multiplayer genre that takes skill that scold at this idea (scold.. who uses that word lol)

The yearly release money scheme is ridiculous, you would be like oh man you must feel so pressured for the devs having to research, create models, singleplayer, etc. but it's the same hashed game new coating(weapons, textures, etc.) , a new feature, some modifications to the killstreak system, perks, etc. I'm already going to far because i practically described everything lol oops. anyway they made a solid name for themselves in that category (casual fps?) with cod 4.

That being said, it's like in highschool there was always a group of friends that picked up counter-strike and was like this games sweet. Then those few kids who played and got owned, or just didn't get into the game for whatever reason. Most of those kids gravitate towards a call of duty style game cuz they can pick it up and get a 'killstreak' and feel like the **** or whatever reason lmao..

Yup, I loved the first couple and Modern Warfare 1 was very fun, when they took out leaning and whatnot with MW2 I decided to stop buying them. United offensive was unbelievably fun for the time, I could still probably enjoy a couple of rounds to this day.

Also, this is all just marketing spiel to draw your attention towards RO: Rising Storm from Tripwire interactive. I'm not saying the game wont be good or anything (i've been looking forward to it for a long time) but it is just shallow marketing hype at the end of the day

"Oh, we hate the COD series, just like you do, Guys! Our game is so realistic, you'll love it because it's like, the opposite!"

They did something similar when the Red orchestra 2 was initially being released, an Article on why the Red orchestra 2 'will beat black ops'

Considering what a buggy, badly optimised, feature missing mess RO2 was on launch it kind of back fired. It's also incredibly rich of them to come out with shit like this when they basically sold out their fanbase in an attempt to make some middleground that'd appease players from a wide spectrum, which again backfired.

They promoted COD1 as have tons of tactical freedom and a dynamic AI that would react to a variety of situations and take an active role in the battle. Remember that sequence where the paratrooper drags his buddy along the fence and the machinegun rips the wood apart. "That's not a scripted sequence, folks, that's dynamic AI!" They said they were breaking away from Medal of Honor's over-the-top heroics and player-centric environments. When the demo came out I saw that it was everything they said it would not be. You even went on commando missions in the full game. And they were still doing their historical research by watching hollywood movies.

If you want to know why I'm a grumpy cunt all the time it's because the game industry has been lying to me my entire life.

EVERYONE KNOWS EARLY BLACK "SETTLERS" AND NATIVE AMERICANS HELPED WHITE PEOPLE LAY CLAIM TO AMERICA FROM THOSE OTHER WHITE PEOPLE TRYIN TO LAY CLAIM TO AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously though if they wanted to make the last creed game believable you shoulda been a native american guy who in no way dressed like some dudes from the middle east or spain or where ever and fought the colonial gents to liberate your native american brothers and sisters.

Call of Duty is a shit game targeted at´╗┐ 10 and 11 year olds who think they have something to prove. Every CoD game is but a mindless rip-off of the last intended to make money off of a weak consumer audience. It has no value unless you enjoy being screamed outdated, stupid "insults" at by 11 year olds like yourself.

Now kindly remove yourself from the internet until you have actually grown a brain and gained some maturity.

You actually get to stab people in AC3! Fuck Me. When did this happen. 80 hours into the boat ride? When the formerly well designed associates of Kenway eat their own shit and devolve into comic villains? 6 years into the tutorial where connors voice doesn't change despite going from kid to mopey adult? When Connor has to farm pigs and mine ore in order to... do something? Where the endless boat missions can just fuck off? Or maybe it's when you're hopping round as Nolan North acting like a smarmy cunt in white hoody...after he has suffered massive facial trauma to make him look more Native American-y

I like Call of Duty, does that make me a shit brain that has no idea what hes doing? No, I just like the game. To go so far as saying that it "ruined a generation of FPS gamers" is fucking retarded as hell. You don't HAVE to play COD, there are plenty of great shooters out there (ARMA, Red Orchestra, Battlefield) that have massive fanbases. Why the fuck do people care what other people spend money and play? This is why the gaming community as a whole is horrible, no matter where you look, fanboys for every single game and console are stuck up little shits who think everyone should think exactly like them. Since the new Xbox One reveal, the console war clicked into full gear. No matter where you go you see comments like "LOL EPIC FAIL IMMA GET A PS4" or "HAHA IT LOOKS LIKE MY GRANDMA'S VCR!" well fuck what was it supposed to look like? Should it have strobe lights and have unnecessary moving parts like a fucking transformer? Its getting real old seeing this shit year after year, every goddamn time something new like a new Call of Duty is announced. For fucks sake the people who complain about the "idiots buying COD every year" are themselves stuck up retarded cocksuckers who have nothing better to do, I think these are the real people who need to "mature". The gaming industry has been little shits ever since games existed, it is not a new thing and COD is NOT the sole inventor of this new "scheme". Just shut the fuck up and enjoy the games that you like.

Anyways the new trailer for CoDG looks pretty cool.
