No More Crossing

Animal Crossing as a map mod for No More Room In Hell a Half-Life 2 zombie modification. Visit Tom Nook's Nook N Go for supplies and head back home to defend it. Go visit the Faraway Museum to see the wonders of dinosaurs, fish, bugs and insects, and paintings...of course while slaughtering the undead. Well if not would you like to wander the town and enjoy the sights? Oh of course not. IT WILL NOT BE AN EXACT REPLICA!

(Trees and other foliage are to represent what is seen in AC for now till models or something can be made up for replacement to make it more AC instead of HL2/NMRIH. Textures are also of question as to replacement for more of that AC feel).

I see paper thin walls AGAIN.

You make this mistake a lot.

actually lemme make this clear:

STOP WITH THE PAPER THIN WALLS.

^Maybe he wants someone to huff and puff his walls down

EDIT: and I saw your video on mod db, "lighting is just to show what has been done in an hour"

Stop rushing!!! I'd rather play a map where the mapper puts detail into every moment, besides like the guy above me said, almost every wall in your level is not thicker than 1 block.

You know where an hour would leave me so far on your level? Probably blocking out and laying out the level in dev/nodraw textures. Slow? Maybe, but my final product will come out a lot better

I think today we learned who the real animals are.

*Walks off into the sunset

I would say go back and look at some general construction/lighting tutorials and up your general level of proficiency before commiting to realising something, think about what textures your using and where and if they fit what you're trying to convey.

Has some good tutorials and should help you build yourself up a bit as a mapper. I can completely empathise with you wanting to release something asap, but it's better to get your level of skill up a bit as you'll produce something a lot better.

Coming from a hardcore AC fan, I'm quite dissapointed in this so far. Them thin walls man, there is no reason for them to be so thin. I just don't feel AC translates over well and while I recognize the landmarks and buildings, they look rushed and hard on the eyes IMO. I am also in fear that this will be a flat non-displaced grass map aswell which gives me a frowny face.

I hope your prepared to make a load of models/textures (trees, flowers, museum donations etc.) if you continue to work on this.

Will there be any objectives or do we just kill shit?

Anyway that's just my two cents, I'm probably just dumb.

The walls have been thickened. The sides of the river are getting displacements. The grass in AC is flat so no hills and what not. The lighting has been fixed. Up next is the post office. Models will be dealt with in time. Objective maps? Never understood them, especially since there are no real tutorials for either things besides setting up SDK for NMRIH from what I found. Mainly certain places will contain safezones all over the village. Enough for a group of 3-8 to handle...hopefully (too many noobs these days thinking their B.A. for being young and using the internet, kids....got to hate them).

Textures might not be a issue as models will be. I can easily create them. Models may not appear in the first BETA release. In AC buildings were separate from what the interior was. The doors were paper thin as well. This is AC not AC WW, AC CF, or AC NF. So for those who played the classic will recognize everything pretty well. Each location will have different supplies and weapons. If I were to change up the building sizes for a more 'realistic' look like everyone craves (just as a teenage boy does breasts) the map will be a heck of a lot worse. If you prefer go ahead and make a AC map, I'd like to see it since no one did this before I'd figure I'll do something like it. We need more maps featuring places from other games such as Dino Crisis and Final Fantasy VII.

Final Fantasy? No not that game it doesn't fit in this mod lol, Dino Crisis map in NMRIH seems okay and interesting being put in a trapped place in the jungle or an stranded tropical island middle of nowhere cut off from the nice blue waters of ocean instead of dinosaurs but with zombies.
