Useful Clothing / Gear

7 posts in this topic

Having played The Last Stand Dead Zone, an idea came to mind that you could loot gear/clothing that can be used to your advantage. Such as Vests, shoes (Or boots) , gloves, bandoliers or ammunition pouches.

Ammunition Pouches - They allow for ammo to be stored without taking weight off of you. The pouch would have it's own weight, but useful to a limit the more ammo you have before it reaches it's limit. Once it reaches it's limit, additional ammo will take space in the inventory as normal.

Vests - They enhance your defense against enemy attacks. Such as claw attacks, that with running zombies or kid zombies they tend to claw you back a lot. There could also be a combination of a Vest and ammunition pouch, such as a Tactical Vest, which has pockets on it useful for storing ammo. Would also have it's own weight.

Gloves - Faster reloading, or less recoil.

Boots (Or shoes) - I think n that shoes would be redundant since you would already have some on, and picking a "New Pair" won't exactly help you much. What i thought (Makes more sense with Boots) of is that when going for high ground, or into water, you would navigate through it faster. Other ideas to what they would do is give you a slightly higher stamina limit, or make you faster.

Bandoliers - Higher ammunition limit, for more weight. Useful if you are more dependant on your weapons and you know that you won't use melee weapons that much.

The way I think of it, only real use any type of gear is going to be usable is anything that can potentially protect the user, ie Armor or items used to store equipment like Backpacks and Pouches.

But seeing as how it's started up, I think I'll add my 2 cents as well:

Body Armor

Police Kevler/Armored Vest - Probably fairly useless if added in now, as it's not exactly something worth it against Zombies but I think it would be an important addition when non-zombie NPC's are added, such as Psychopathic Civilians, Rogue Cops or even as some form of protection against Marine Deathsquads.

Storage

The way I think of an Ammo Pouch in this game is this, it's an equipment item that can be equipped on the person during Survival gametypes. When a player dies, instead of just dropping all different types of ammunition at the players last known location, it instead drops an ammo pouch which stores all of their collected ammunition. That way when they respawn they can instead just pick up the ammo pouch without having to worry about fumbling around with all the different types of ammo.

The backpack serves from a previous idea I posted shown here: http://www.nomoreroominhell.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8852&st=0&p=136869entry136869

The Shotgun bandoleer is different, instead of being a storage item it's actually an idea towards a separate model of shotgun ammunition. As far as I'm aware, Boxes of shells appear with a random number between 1 and 20, a bandoleer is significantly rarer but always grants 20-30 shells on the spot.

I honestly dont understand y you would use a kevlar, since zombies dont know shoot weapons and they byte you in the neck, arms or legs. later, when ur dead, is when they'll gut you.

PS: when I was posting this, I acctualy think "we dont have crawling zombies" and this could be a great implement. of course, that should be more deadbodies and make look like the real zombies. so you could be confused about who's dead-dead and who's dead-sleeping-ish.

You'd see the real addition for kevlar if read the lower description which reads "important addition when non-zombie NPC's are added, such as Psychopathic Civilians, Rogue Cops or even as some form of protection against Marine Deathsquads." whom of which would probably all use firearms in some way
