This game ain't "Metal Gear Solid 5" but it's a prequel and here are the list of known details (spoilers if you haven't played any of MG games within the last decade)

    • The game is a prequel to MGS5 (timewise it's set after Peacewalker)

    • It's an open world game
    • It runs on the FOX Engine and is a multiplatform title (PS3/Xbox 360/PC)
    • It'll supposedly contain a lot of content (50 hours of gameplay, which doesn't count 4 hour long cutscenes)

An open world Metal gear, that is intriguing (Read something about this the other day and didn't really know what to make of it).

But ground Zeroes? What?

Doubt that it will be coming out on the PC, several websites state PS3/Xbox360 or next-gen consoles unless someone can provide a link saying it will be released on the PC.

According to GameSpot, Kojima said the engine is designed for next gen consoles, but the game has been designed with Xbox 360 and PS3 in mind. No platforms or release date were officially announced.

Except maybe for this quote:

He also confirmed that the demo shown is running on a PC hardware speced out to be similar to the PS3

I'm glad Hideo Kojima didn't give permission to Uwe Shit Boll to direct a video game live-action film adapt version based on Metal Gear Solid series because he knows they'll mess it up real bad, I would beat the living crap out of 'im for ruining House Of The Dead Japanese SEGA rail-shooter already evil bastard.

I'm sure Hayter's going to appear, he said he wasn't going to be in "MGSV" or "Phantom Pain" but he didn't say anything in regards to "Ground Zeroes", which is essentially part 1 of the MGS5 saga (like in MGS2 with the Tanker chapter being the start, and the Plant chapter being the main phase) :P

---

While I was sitting around waiting for my AMD drivers to download, a friend and I decided to analyze the MGSV trailer further and noticed the following details were linked together:

  • "Ishmael" the bandaged guy
  • The whale
  • "Moby Dick Studios"
  • "Ground Zero"
  • "Phantom Pain"
  • The song in the GDC 2013 trailer
  • "Diamond Dogs", what could it mean?
  • FOX vs XOF

pp-9.jpg

The whale in the trailer and "Moby Dick Studios" may not be easily connected to one another at first, but you'll have to remember the story; how Captain Ahab spent his life trying to hunt down and kill Moby Dick which would ultimately become pointless, and consume Ahab's life. Now the same can be said for the struggle between Big Boss and Zero. Boss and Zero had been quarreling against one another for quite some time, and then it eventually led to Boss wasting his life for 9 years (in a coma). "Ground Zero" is generally an event that happens right after a major catastrophe, which means something terrible had happened in the flashpoint between FOX and XOF. FOX being Big Boss's faction, and XOF being Zero and the Patriots. This event led to Big Boss's 9 year coma.

image_294827_thumb_wide940.jpg

"Phantom pain" is a medical term given to amputees who felt 'sensations' in their missing limbs. Big Boss clearly lost an arm as a result of the "Ground Zero" event. He's dealing with the immense pain. The missing arm itself can be considered to be a symbol of Boss losing a part of himself in this conflict (losing friends, etc.)

image_294792_thumb_wide940.jpg

In one of the gameplay trailers, when BIg Boss asks for the name of this man, he replies: "Call me Ishmael". That is the starting line to the Moby Dick story, and Ishmael is the main character and narrator of that tale. He's a wandering man who has suicidal thoughts, and takes to sea as an attempt to break out of his depression and obession with death. At one point, he broods and thinks, describing himself as a "Philosopher". This could mean that "Ishmael" the bandaged man is actually Big Boss's psyche, leading him through the strange turn of events that have appeared in the Hospital (clearly a coma), or someone else entirely. Someone else? If we go to Genesis in the Bible, Ishmael is the son of Abraham, and he was cast off after the birth of Issac. Has Big Boss figured out that the Patriots planned to replace him with his cloned son, Solid Snake?

The song for the trailer also plays a role in here. if you listen to the lyrics, you can figure out that it's essentially telling the story of the game.

You dropped by as I was sleeping.
You came to see the whole commotion.
And when I woke I started laughing.
The jokes on me for not believing.

We are not your kind of people.
Speak a different language.
We see through your lies.
We are not your kind of people.
Won't be cast as demons,
Creatures you despise.

You seem kind of phoney.
Everything's a lie.
We are not your kind of people.
Something in your makeup.
Don't see eye to eye.

These specific passages symbolize the fact that Big Boss has enough with Zero, and is now going to fully retaliate against him and his faction.

"Diamond Dogs" is the name of Big Boss's splinter faction that he forms against XOF, and that name itself has history. It was the name of David Bowie's 1974 album (and song), and was his swansong for Glam Rock. 1974 is also the year when the "Ground Zero" event possibly took place, since MGS: Peacewalker took place in Nov. of 1974 and it's set shortly after that game. The lyrics also contain some symbolization.

(will they come? )
Ill keep a friend serene
(will they come? )
Oh baby, come unto me
(will they come? )
Well, she's come, been and gone.
Come out of the garden, baby
Youll catch your death in the fog
Young girl, they call them the diamond dogs
Young girl, they call them the diamond dogs

At the end of the trailer, it presents a particular line. "V has come to." V has a list of different meanings, it can be interpeted as V for Victory, which also has a latin name, Victoria, or Ad Victoriam. And the most famous person who had the name "Victoria" was Queen Victoria of England. And if we go one step further, "Jay" is an english name that stands for Victory, and is a nickname for "John". "John", being BIg Boss's real first name, but he also goes by "Jack".

"V has come to" = "Jack has come to"

Big Boss has come to, to once again resume his crusade of the righteous, and to right the wrongs that Zero, who has become power-hungry, has wrought.

This clearly means,

DAVID BOWIE IS BIG BOSS

ALSO

4 beats play when the chopper appears at the end of that hallway. 4 has a meaning:

The 4 is without a doubt masculine, reflecting strength and stability. His chief characteristics are dependability, productivity, punctuality and obedience. He is trustworthy, patient, conventional and a traditionalist. He is a bit boring and not much of a social person, preferring to toil in quiet obscurity. He works steadily and can be very persistent. He finds great satisfaction in his accomplishments and favors results over financial reward or public recognition. He is humble, dresses conservatively and blends in with his surroundings.

Also, when taken even further, the 4 beats can be deconstructed into 1 long beat, followed by 3 short beats. When inputting that into a Morse Code translator, it translates to:

-... = B

BIG BOSS IS LOOKING FOR HIMSELF IN THE COMA

BUT, B ALSO SOUNDS LIKE V, AND V HAS COME TO.

IF WE INPUT V INTO THE MORSE CODE TRANSLATOR, WE GET:

V = ...-

-... AND ...- = FOX VS XOF

WE HAVE TO GO DEEPER

Not sure how I feel about it. Keifer is a pretty solid Voice Actor but Hayter has always been Snake, much like how Mark Hamill has always been the Joker. Personally I hated MGS Snake Eater and 4. But the idea of an open world third person stealth game is very intriguing. Guess i'll just play some music when they start banging on about midichlorians, lololols, guys crapping themselves and horses in the jungle

All I have to say about this is "Trust in Kojima-san" he definitely know what he's doing at this point.

oh, and I hope this gets a release on PC, I don't want to buy consoles anymore.

Hayter has wished Sutherland well with the role. "Can't fault @RealKiefer," he tweeted. "Great actor, good man. The game will probably still be excellent. Like New Coke!"

It's unclear why Hayter is no longer in the role, but it sounds like it wasn't his decision to walk away from it. "To my beloved Tweeps, I can't thank you enough for all your support. Getting fired was never so heartwarming,"

Replacing David Hayter with Kiefer sutherland seems like a bad move. I don't care how good a voice actor he is, to just suddenly replace the original voice actor is a bizzare move, especially when it seems that Hayter actually wants to retain the role.

Wow. Kojima proving once again that Characters, Story and Acting are not his strong suit. On the other hand is does look gorgeous, and that whole Wild West of the Middle East flair looks very enticing.

[EDIT] Realistic passage of time? REALLY! Yeah, that's what I want from a video game. Something that takes as long to get fucking bright as it does outside. Jesus.

That trailer...I'm drooling over the awesomeness I just witnessed. The game looks stunning, it's making me get excited for the series all over again. I sense another midnight release for a metal gear game in my future, provided it's released for the PC as well.

A single 8MB file on the PC retail version is a steam installer for a 28GB game.

Valve did this as well with Portal 2 retail version.

Wow. Kojima proving once again that Characters, Story and Acting are not his strong suit.

Stefanie joosten (Quiet) is one of the big talking points about this game, more so about how she appears in-game, not sure if she is a playable character.
