Very werid indeed. If you have Dead Before Dawn -campaign, you probably got the props from there as Darth_Brush was former NMRiH team's level designer. This has been discussed before year or so ago, if I remember right.

Nope I didn't install any custom campaign or cop any custom props into the game

Yeah, it's true, I just checked it out and I have it. I have some addons but I keep it as .vpk files.

I did a little bit of research because I love this kind of thing.

So this Prop was made by General Vivi aka Jason Mojica. He was a member of one of the old nmrih teams pre-2008 leak. According to Maxx the prop was made for Vivi's map nmrih_stranded You can actually see it in one of his screenshots on his portfolio here. How might this made its way into l4d2? Well we know he was indeed involved in the making of Dead Before Dawn L4D campaign. (no word on sequel but prop may have been reused) This is the extent of my knowledge. I will attempt to find out more.

yeah looks like it's definitely from pre-2008, but how the heck did it get into l4d2? i'm guessing since it says 0 times used it's not actually used anywhere, just managed to make it into the build

kinda like how we have a shitload of models/materials we don't use for various reasons

I think when it says 0 times used it means that I have used it in the map, lets see what the l4d devs have to say about this if they reply to that tweet.

This prop is located in DLC3 folder (Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2_dlc3/...). DLC3 - it's community made Cold Stream and ported Left 4 Dead 1 maps. So, I guess it's becouse Cold Stream as it is community made map.

So the devs from cold stream stole a nmrih prop?

I am not sure if those props were used exactly in Cold Stream campaign, but it might be. It needs some more investigation of that before blaming someone :) I will check Cold Stream soon and I will see if that prop was used there.

EDIT:

I finished the campaign (w/ noclip), but I didn't found that prop anywhere, so it might be it was used on ported L4D1 maps or I overlooked it when I was searching for it or it was never used as a prop in-game.

Don't go pointing fingers like that. Saying shit like that makes me sick.

I was replying to his post, fyi, dman.

I wasn't pointing fingers, I was being sarcastic, as usual. It's hard to tell since we aren't talking in person.

When people point fingers, it does make me sick as well. I'm sorry if I came across as I was, i think it would be better if someone just deleted these recent posts.

Funny, I just installed it for the first time on my work comp and... yup, the paper stack is there. Kinda funny... must be apart of a community map or something, only way really.

Yeah it's sort of funny, but if you look around in the props you'll also find more NMRiH content; I know the 'fallouttable1.mdl' is there

Not too much of a big deal though imo

It's normal for games designers to take inspiration from others, for whatever reason the unintended prop is there, they probably were inspired by it. :)
