The War Z

Well, ya got me there. I must have forgotten the fact that every PC game that has gone through the internal testing process is virtually bug-free upon release. I can't think of a better way to generate hype than by randomly handing out closed beta keys to people that don't meet the minimum system requirements.

I imagine this fall into the pleasures of the law of great numbers and Chebyshev theorem..

So I can guarantee I won't be chosen for this since the only requirement is an email address. It's pretty sad when free HL2 mods have a more rigorous screening process than a commercial product.

But if they did that then people like me wouldn't get a chance to play them!

Looks ok for being alpha stage. IF they add better textures, animations, and more scenery, it would be my alternative to dayZ.

Well, considering it's to be released later this year, i'm a bit skeptical.

Seeing as this engine/game were built with the theme in mind, you'd think they'd have gone to town on desolated buildings/interiors etc. That may be a small thing in some people eyes, but the 'Hospital' he was in in the video just seemed incredibly underpopulated and undetailed and if that's the case for most building a lot of potential atmosphere and immersion will needlessly be lost.

For an alpha it looks okay, but the shooting and sound seems really off to me (really arcady); I like the Third Person camera

However, the footage with the two guys and their 'teamwork' was really painful to watch, obviously staged demos aren't fun :P

Anyone saying how animations suck and things don't seem to react right in NMRiH, should check how shitty The War Z looks.. Seriously, that shit looks horrible! Don't give me any "ooh, but it's pre-alpha" bullshit, that team is getting paid for what they do and are releasing this year (as far as I know). The core of that game (engine) is just shit. Everything seems so weightless and dull.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the reason I can't find it in myself to buy arma so I can play Day Z is because the running animations are awful. To zombies...the ground is a slip n slide.

IT'S PRONOUNCED 'ZED' NOT 'ZEE'

I'm on the fence about the War Z, but having said that some of the cooler stuff hasn't been shown and the game could just wind up being a buggy mess (I wouldn't be suprised either, seeing as this game will cash in either way/has such a short period of time before it supposedly releases).

Day-Z, tried it and it's not as great as it's made out to be. The Zombie animations combined with the way they react and behave generally are kind of shit/severly limited by the old tech ARMA 2 is based on (as are many other aspects). Save us NMRIH devs by making an indie project based on the Cry engine in the same vein as NMRIH (on that note, what engine is the War Z made with? At one point a weapon customisation menu was brought up and was basically the same as the one in the crysis series).

The War Z is made on their own engine, which was first made for their game "War Inc.". Basically, they turned War Inc. into a zombie game which we know as The War Z, as they share a whole lot of the assets, quick way to do the game (= cash in pretty much).

It's a cash in and it's going to be shit.

The DayZ standalone will crush it. Hopefully their company goes under because they are clearly in the business for quick easy money.

It does seem that way, especially given how soon it's meant to be releasing. I probably will get Day-Z standalone, but there are a couple of things i'm not sure about like underground bases or something as an attempt to bypass the ARMA 2 engines limitations/Day-Z' 'pop in, pop out' exploiters. But the fact it's on the Arma '2.5' engine is fairly cool (RAGDOLL ZOMBIES AND HOPEFULLY SLIGHTLY better AI, YAY).

The Pvp gameplay video doesnt look too bad:

http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/the-war-z-pvp-gameplay-trailer

Idk im not gonna get my hopes up but its definately worth a try. Day Z was fun but the lack of any form of cooperation and the glitchy zombies kinda ruined it for me. Maybe the standalone game may be better but it seems like it will still have the same engine problems the mod had, so I dont really see it as being a huge update over the origional.

I bought the legend pack damn too! I think maybe we should give 3 guest keys to one of the NMRIH Staff members... I don't mind at all, don't be greedy tho!
