Do any of you cheap skates use Cubase or Pro-tools? If its good enough to record tracks with, surely it'd be more than capable for SFX/voice aswell.

(Think you can get 'lite' versions of both for like £40-60 before someone says 'they're £500+')

Also, cheap flights/cheap flights to japan? is this Some kind of spam bot hybrid or something?

Yes it is, reason it has been banned already.

I use Flstudio which isn't too pricey for what it does. That and audition are my main 2. Audacity had a nice vocal remover trick you can do if you have the inttrumental along side the vocal version.

Out of curiousity, what do you use to clean up your tracks Gdawg? I've got decent enough external hardware/equipment (A Les Paul Studio and a line 6 POD) but having recently tried to record some stuff with Audacity, it just sounds shit and fuzzy. This is probably down to the fact i've only got 'on-board' sound in my PC (ASUS P6T' on-board sound unit) but i'm thinking of getting a decent USB/Firewire set-up. Though Hopefully, even with the set-up i've got, i'll be able to clean the tracks up enough to make them of decent quality with the right Software.

I actually do all my cleanup with Adobe Audition CS5. It has some seriously awesome noise cancelation tweaks as well as audio sample repair and vocal enhancements (and easy removal if you do it right).

Song Mastering was also made pretty darn easy on it too compared to other programs.

Here is an example of some quick Audition tweaks on something I am working on right now:

NMRiH OST - Salvame Sample RAW FILE: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28949598/NMRIH%20OST/FINISHED/Official/NMRiH%20OST%20-%20Salvame%20Sample%20-%20Raw.mp3

NMRiH OST - Salvame Sample Auditioned: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28949598/NMRIH%20OST/FINISHED/Official/NMRiH%20OST%20-%20Salvame%20Sample%20-%20Auditioned.mp3

Hopefully that will get you an insight into some of it's strengths.

lol, even the RAW file sounds a billion times better than anything i've recorded.

I was hoping to be able to get decent results realitively cheaply, but the more I read up and look into it i'll probably need to buy some pricey stuff at some point.

Audacity can still do a lot of good in the mastering department. You just truly do get what you pay for.
