Failed to Create D3D Device!

When I started playing this game, I messed around with the Video Settings and it caused NMRiH to flicker in and out of window mode until I had to hard-exit it with Task Manager. After that, every time I tried to launch it I got the 'D3D Device' bug. Obviously I just added the launch option -dxlevel 81. Now my video options won't save though, and it's annoying on every start up I have to manually set all 3 options again and again.

If I take out the launch option, it does the 'D3D Device' bullshit again. No, my folder for /cfg isn't Read-Only. I tried deleting my config.cfg too in hopes that maybe it'll reset everything(?) but the game doesn't launch far enough to create another .cfg.

Halp?

EDIT: I'd like other options before I have to just re-install the whole NMRiH game. Kind of took a while...

Yeah the whole performance options reset after every new startup is annoying as f*ck but it's something you have to live with to be able to run the game/run the game above 2 fps.

Edit : You only need to run the game once with dxlevel 81 then just remove it and it will save the dxlevel.

The video options reset only if you have launch options. I can run the game easily with 1920x1080 but I have to set it to that every time, since I have to use -dxlevel 81 because I fucked something up on my first go.

Please read my edit above.

Wrong, if I took out -dxlevel 81 it would give me the 'D3D Device' error. Although I found a way to fix it finally. I ran the sole launch option of -autoconfig. Then once I ran that, I took it out. It seem to have reset all video options to vanilla settings and is working fine now without any launch options AND now saving video options. Yay, now I feel that I just made a pointless thread haha....

Congrats...gives you the "Big Rigs Over The Road Racing" trophy.

the -dxlevel options cause your video options to reset every launch, which is why the settings don't seem to save. It should stick between launches though so I'm not sure why removing it would have instantly caused the D3D error.

Did you try running with the -autoconfig startup option?
