Day Z Mod

Due to some strange anomaly, our global positions were reverted back to a large body of water. We went from laying our heads down in the grass in-land to being separated and strung along the coastline. It was dark again. In the famous words of Burt Gummer, I was completely out of ammo. The monolithic silhouettes of the factories loomed in the distance. A faint red glow dotted the innards of the facility. Reluctantly I ventured forth in hopes of finding Riley, the women who previously shot me, and the fabled Dman. For nearly fifteen minutes I stumbled around in the dark and was immediately attacked by a horde. I was beaten, torn apart and probably raped somewhere in between. On my third attempt I spawned much further away from any human structures. By this time my fellow triad had rendezvoused together. I was completely lost. My microphone was muted due to inconsistencies with Skype. I was alone.

I happened upon a few flares once. The building had been looted and no sign of life was anywhere. I was hearing chatter from the group, they were curious as to my position, but I had no idea. I ran for what seemed like forever. The group had a run-in around a lighthouse. Using this information I set my eyes to finding this landmark. About this time I hit a large stretch of main road that ran through a small, but lengthy village. I had never seen so many zombies in my life. Out of the shadows they came. From behind every house and fence and car. It was sheer hell. Running was all I knew for nearly five minutes until the most wonderful thing I'd ever seen graced the black horizon: the lighthouse!

The group had moved on several minutes before however. I ran a few laps around the lighthouse feeling much more confident despite the 20 or so zombies trailing my ass. I sprinted down the hill and back to the road. Riley recommended the group stick to some railroad tracks. I now had my new objective. I must make it to those tracks, my life depended on it. Just minutes later I hit an intersection near some buildings and to my delight it was the tracks! By this time I'm ecstatic. The zombies were relentlessly chasing me. It was the home stretch. My last bastion. For a minute though I doubted myself. Was I going the opposite direction? Did they move off the tracks just before I got there and were moving the way I came from? Just then, I saw a flash of white light. Then again. Riley always uses his flashlight even when it isn't exactly an appropriate time to be using it. So I knew. It had to be.

As I got closer to the group I realized that they wouldn't know it was me. So I risked stopping for a second to type out "hELP". It caught Riley's attention.

"Where are you, Chase?"

I couldn't respond because I got my ass smacked by one of the many zombies behind me. A few more feet and I fired two shots in the air.

"I hear gunfire!"

At this point my adrenaline was on high, my screen was shaking from the pain of the hits I had taken. The team was just off to my right near some structures. A small bridge was just up ahead of me. I bee-lined for the bridge and the team exploded with alarm. There was so much going on that I only remember vague dialogue that occurred. The women who previously shot me yelled something along the lines of "Shoot him!". I shied right of the bridge and went down in the creek to avoid being shot and typed "IT SMe"

"It's Chase!" Riley exclaimed.

At that point I whipped around and began hammering the trigger of my Makarov emptying bullets into as many heads as I could. More gunfire erupted from the group and people were scrambling for flares. Dman or someone else threw one right on our position as I hurled one on the other side of the creek. The first round of zombies went down right after and out of nowhere a second group came sprinting out of the dark. I got hit again, but shot three more zombies dead.

Once it was all over we dove under the bridge to hide from zombies and other survivors alike. I was shaking in game and out. So Dman or somebody gave me painkillers. We later concluded that the women (who previously shot me) and I were even.

Stay tuned for the thrilling conclusion as the group heads into town to get medical supplies!

unlike some people here i'm not a total attention whore so i stalk through the forests of day z completely anonymoose, quiet as i murder and devour the flesh of the innocent (while spamming the beautiful arma2 voice commands)

and since no one can take arma2 seriously, in the name of arma2's wackyness/bugginess and xendrid's story i have assumed the role of the heavily bearded survivor with a thirst for blood, who just so happens to have the same face model as Dslyecxi, Noobbot/Merf's commanding officer in the ShackTac community

this clearly means i will strike terror into the hearts of Noobbot and Merf and the rest of the ShackTac commnity as i gaze upon them with my cold dead artificial eyes, repeatedly asking them to refuel my craft with love over and over again

i'm coming for you noobbot

A short video of Riley confronting Nooboot and Merf but unfortunately it didn't turn out as planned.

Riley's character in the game is a male survivor.

I'm not, anything using ArmA 2 is a no-go in my book. I refuse to reinstall that clunky piece of poop.

Alrighty then!

It's pretty much confirmed that my friend will be buying me a computer in June.

I'm going to make so many fanfics out of this game.

Sigh.

Okay, so I'm finally going to re-install Arma2 and Arrowhead, patch it up and dowload the damn mod. So far, the bugs you guys were talking about turned me off, but now my best friend wants to play, so there. Next week I'm going to join y'all.

So this temperature system he is adding in the next patch sounds fucking annoying. Just another reason not to play at night time I guess. Your screen will always be shaking violently. Yay...

There is a line you draw between fun and realism. This guy is a hundred miles gone. The strange thing is, everyone is like ZOMG TEMPARATURE SYSTUM YAAAAA! Fools...damned fools.

I'd rather have a nutrition system or whatever, so drinking Coke and baked beans for a month straight will have an impact on your overall effectiveness. Temperature? Who gives a shit.

While that can be annoying, overzealous dick-head admins are probably worse. Is it the case that if you don't play 'properly' in Day Z that you'll constantly get kicked? I played some 'Chenarus life' or whatever it's called before and if you weren't being berated by other players for 'not playing properly' (i.e beating them) you'd get kicked by an admin for doing basically nothing.

Can make mod's that sound awesome very annoying to play.

There are no admins really AFAIK.

Also my computer can play this at playable FPS [more than playable, better than my laptop and its a 2600 pro compared to a 5650m]

I have a pretty cool story since I decided to go bandit [except for people I like]

I don't shoot everyone but I do shoot some people, and as I spawned I tossed like 3 flares as I travelled down the road. Half as a sort of bait and a bit as a way to see/travel. I made sure to traverse outside of the lit area cast by them in case I was discovered. I saw some guy running towards me so I hit the dirt. I assume he saw the flares and he hit the dirt as well. I spent the next minute inching my way towards him [quietly] until I was about 5-10 ft away from him. Shot him and he didn't die. Instead the vile mongrel started bleeding, he returned fire [all of which missed me completely] and started running. I followed him by sneaking through the woods and hitting the dirt when he looked. I hunted him for like 5-10 minutes before I realized we were in Kamenka and he started being chased by zombies. I watched him get eaten alive, those damn zombies stole my trophy :<

at least I got a couple cans of beans and ammo though. That's useful since I was starving anyway.

So what games do I need to play this? Can I play using free ARMA II?

You definitely need Operation Arrowhead (no exceptions)

However you can just get the free version of ArmA2

The free version of ARMA II has super low res textures and the lite version of PMC is automatically installed with arrowhead.

No multi-player either and it's only about 1GB.

yes you can play using the free version.

the thing is that you have to do a bunch of crap to get it working and I cba to look it up.

Played Day Z over at a friends house because my broken lump of a computer can't run anything short of solitaire, first time I played it got lucky and found a Rocket Launcher on a dead Bandit along with some decent high level gear (like a G17 Handgun and a few Hand Grenades).

To anyone else who finds a rocket launcher out there, don't bother using it unless you want to attract ALOT of attention or just want to destroy a vehicle or building and it takes up most of your inventory space, in short, it's more or less just dead weight. Me and friend used it on a group of Zombies who ganging up on a bandit Sniper in a fire station tower in Cherno, needless to say all it did was alert the zombies to our position and only killed one zombie, you have better luck using Hand Grenades for crowd control.

First time playing was enjoyable but only because I had a friend along with me. Found a few low level guns after the rocket launcher mostly pistols, seemed to have a thing for the 1866 lever action though.

It had a tough learning curve but I stuck with it and I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed it, just wish I can afford a new computer soon so I can get rid of my current POS, and start playing on my own.
