Mass Effect 3

165 posts in this topic

Yep, not gonna add much to this thread since Riley summed it up pretty good but the ending of ME3 is very disappointing... Full of plot holes and not to mention it was something no one wanted to see anyway.

Wonder what BioWare are thinking now... "What have we done...?" should be it as they are watching the rest of their company fall apart while the EA business empire is taking over... Still, I'm blaming BioWare just as much as EA for this.

I can live with this ending but it sure means I'm not a Mass Effect fan anymore. This is sad.

Fuck it, I'm done playing for a while.

Just did the Geth / Quarian part, and despite doing everything right, Tali & the Quarians died. That's bullshit; I read if you did certain things, you could get them to broker peace and become even bigger war assets.

I did everything that every guide said you had to do; utter shit BioWare, way to take away freedom.

Is Commander Shepard as bland and generic as he was in number 2? if so, INSTA BUY.

But, yeh, i'll probably end up getting this.

Blokey and Boobs Shepard have definetely improved their acting skills since the second.

Good to hear, in number 2 all the manerisms etc of Shepard were so bland, he'd deliver lines in the same monotone way with that slightly glazed expression on his face.

I don't get how you can have trouble with the Geth/Quarian conflict, I winged it through my first playthrough without a guide and managed to

resolve their war with peace by yelling at the Quarian admirals and Geth forces; the important things I did were to keep Tali from getting exiled and doing Legion's loyalty quest in ME2, I rescued Admiral Zaal'Koris from the Geth and convinced him to head back to the fleet, I stopped the Geth Fighter base and helped Legion realign the corrupt Geth + I made a speech on how the Geth were just as living as Organics were, and there was a bunch of other stuff that I don't remember doing

Oh and I kicked Admrial Han'Gerrel in the dick for shooting the Geth Dreadnought while I was still on it :D

As for the Character DLC already being on the disc, it's really just the guy's model and a few voice files; the DLC you download has the brunt of the content that's required (the side quests and a lot more dialogue and other things). They did the same in ME2 for Kasumi Goto and I don't really recall people making such a shitstorm over that lol

Hellroom you might as well get the game if you have a save file from ME2, it's the best in terms of gameplay and the story is pretty good

As for the endings for ME3 there's

a theory on where Shepard is possibly hallucinating the entire sequence after she gets blasted by Harbinger's laser beam before she reaches the Conduit esque device to the Citadel; when she 'wakes up' on the Citadel she's a bit indoctrinated by that time (she wakes up and hears ominous whispering and so on, signs that the Reaper indoctrination is taking its toll). This probably explains why she seems so content to just accept the few choices that the Catalyst AI gives her, the AI is trying to get her to choose to either control the Reapers or to combine synth and organic life forms together in a last ditch effort to stop the destruction of the Reapers.

And basically whatever she 'chooses' to do will happen, but if Shepard was stubborn enough to defy the Catalyst AI and choose to destroy the reapers + was stubborn enough to unite the whole of the Galaxy to be extremely prepared for the Reapers, she wakes up for real by the Conduit device right after she got blasted by Harbinger and the battle is still raging on

Maybe that sounds more convoluted than a Metal Gear game but it probably means that Bioware wanted to make a more definite and less confusing finale but did not have time to jam it in before release so they're finishing it up in a form of some DLC (free or paid, no clue)

There's some files in the game that help back up the idea in that there was supposed to be something bigger for the endings; for example script and some audio files show that Joker was supposed to fly in with the Normandy and save Shepard and company by blasting Harbinger with a Thanix Cannon since Reapers are extremely vulnerable ground side.

tl:dr ME3 suffered from the same problem that KotoR2 had, they could not get the content they wanted in before release so they both had shitty endings, however ME3 can fix that with post launch patches and DLC

Well I'm just hoping for something that gives me some more closure. I would love to have played the games from star to finish again but as it is now, I just can't.

Are you saying I'll get some kind of secret mega bonus for having a ME2 save file?

Was thinking of buying it for the pc, had no.2 on the Xbox.

Somehow I managed to

not have enough Paragon to talk TIM out of shooting Anderson, so I just shot him in the face instead :(

I also managed to pick the wrong ending, I was wanting to blow up everything but once I realized I was at the control one it had locked me in and didn't let me turn back fffffuuuuuuuuuu

oh well, I was still able to bang Miranda after the multitude of gratuitous camera shots of her ass.

Also, the whole DLC character on the disc is still JUST THE SQUAD CHARACTER -- no mission, no him being in the Normandy, no interactions, no extra squad outfits -- you know, the other 95% of the DLC. It just proves that they did in fact start working on getting the DLC in place before the game was shipped .. which is kinda expected? It doesn't actually take long to add another squad member to the game; the artists and animators wouldn't have dick all else to do at the end of the development cycle while all of the final QA / bug fixing / certification is going on.

edit: also this

Tali's drunken jealous "rampage" was hilarious.

So glad they included that, she was super jelly of whomever Shepard romanced and very vocal about it. I love that kind of stuff.

"Emergency Induction port!"

**********************************************************

I thought most people were over-reacting til I got the ending.

So I won't spoil anything;

But seriously? Fuck you Bioware. DLC can't fix this. This is like a giant middle FINGER to anyone who even remotely enjoyed the story or Mass Effect universe.

You did pretty much spoil a major event with an image, and you didn't even bother to use

tags

I added them in your posts for the convenience for those who simply want to browse the topic without seeing them

Well there's no "spoiler" button to click, am I supposed to know of these commands and enter them manually?

I've only ever seen them on a few forums, and they all had a button to click a "Spoilers" button, next to quote or so.

all you gotta do is type spoiler with a [ and a ] around it (no spaces) and do the same at the end but with a / in front of the word spoiler. [spo iler] [/spo iler] put the space in so it wouldn't think i was tryin to use the actual code.

Lol you had to buy a guide and you STILL failed at that? I'm still on my first playthrough and I winged this part easy, maybe its cause you didn't save the Geth Heretics in ME2?

I know the ending to ME3, and I still think most people are overreacting, seriously.

Buy a guide?

What year are we in?

Google, Wiki, ect.

And no, saving the Geth Heritics is -bad-. I did that, and they said that's one of the reasons I -didn't- get to broker peace:

Geth vs. Quarians

In order to achieve peace between the two races, you need to get 5 to 7 points. These points are based on your ME2 and ME3 decisions. If you have 4 points or below, you cannot achieve peace.

-Rewrote the Heretics (0 points)

-Destroyed the Heretics (+2 points)

-Tali is NOT exiled (+2 points)

-Tali has been exiled/You did not do the Loyalty Mission (0 points)

-Resolved Legion/Tali conflict either using the Paragon or Renegade options (+1 point)

-N7 Mission: Save the Admiral on Rannoch in ME3 (+1 point)

-N7 Mission: Destroy Geth Squadron on Rannoch in ME3 (+1 point)

-Completed Legion's Mission in ME3 (or no peace)

Tali was also exiled in my playthrough. I did the loyalty mission, but frustrating. I rewrote them...

I did the N7 missions, and Legions, and resolved their fonflict...

So I had like 3 points...needed at least 5...

That was my issue.

I rewrote the heretics in ME2, my Tali was not exiled in ME2 and I had success with the conflict in ME3. I think having Tali exiled causes more problems for you than rewriting the heretics. Maybe your Paragon / Renegade score wasn't high enough as well?

I'm curious if there was ANY point to saving the council in ME1. Seriously, I mean it's good that each race feels comfortable allowing the mentally retarded to be their voice in the universe but it doesn't help. The ONLY one who has tried to help is the Turian dick who through 1 and 2 always said reapers with finger quotes.

Soon as this shit is done I'm gonna demand a 200 foot gold statue of shepherd shaking her head and and saying "I Told You So" every 8 seconds. And the fucking council goons have to eat the birdshit that it accumulates...not even in a sandwich. Just on it's own!
