I recognized right away the wolf ammo box that NMRiH uses in the .45 caliber range.

Our 7.62x39 in NMRiH is Soviet surplus, in packing sleeves. You've got a nice collection though. I have a classic love story romance with the L1A1.. Here in Canada it's called the C1A1. It is one of my favorite rifles of all time. I had the distinct pleasure of getting to use one while I was in the RCAC away for summer camp training. They are no longer in service at all in the Canadian Forces, all of them have been retired. They are also on the Prohibited Firearms list from the RCMP so they are illegal to own with out a Prohibited license (which as a civilian is more or less impossible to get).. So I will never get to use one again :(

Anyway, I'm thinking that the next time I buy a rifle, it'll be a MIni-14.. What do you guys think?

Mini-14's are great rifles, just don't pay too much for one.

Is there really such a thing as "Soviet Surplus" these days? Its been 22 years since the Soviet union collapsed, that makes that ammo a non-renewable resource.

Yeah of course the brand comes in different calibers. ^^

I used to use them at my old job they are pretty good guns. The only thing i'd say is Ruger's tend to not like steel cased ammo. My friend had a Mini-30 and it would not shoot steel case ammo at all harder primers and all. I mean I hit the primer on some bullets 2-3 times without it firing could have just been a factory defect but that's my only problem i've had. I'm not sure if that's an issue with the Mini-14 but as long as you stick to brass cased ammo I'd imagine you'll be ok.

I do love my fal I'd wanted once since I was like 18 never found a affordable one until I was like 25-26 =x. I dig your M1A too I got to get me one someday.

Nice gun if you can find the ammo, I don't know how easy it is to find 5.56/.223 in Canada. If not a Mini-30 might be better. It's in 7.62x39. If you do get one, will you make it tacticool? You know, with collapsible stocks, pistol grips, scopes and other stuff like that?

.223 Rem/5.56 NATO is really easy to get here in Canada. I personally have 2,000 rounds surplus of .223 in my locker.

Also Payne you'd be surprised, there is still plenty of Soviet surplus kicking around, and the Ukraine still makes tons of it at the same factories using the same equipment and ingredients they did 50 years ago.

If I do get a Mini 14 I will go all tacticool on it but I'm not sure if I'll go pistol grip or keep the rifle stock style.

Blew up my ear last week with a broke-ass High Standard A1041/Sears 25. The one time I don't put my ears on, I had an out-of-battery explosion. Head has been a beehive for the last 7 days. Glad it was way only a 22 short. Lesson learned: Never cheap out on a gun, even a little plinker.

I got better :D

Always use hearing protection brah. I know a firearms instructor that had someone negligently discharge a round while he wasn't wearing his. Now he has tinnitus for life.

Holy shit is that a .50 Beowulf/.458 SOCOM? Or did you add a big-ass muzzle brake/flash hider? Either way, that'll probably scare the shit out of anything in front of it.

It's .223, it's a Noveske KX3

It's a flash suppressor and a gas/noise director. It controls recoil and climb really well and mitigates noise intrusion for the shooter by redirecting the sound waves away from the shooter, as well as limiting dust kick-up for example if you were firing from prone position
