Fence jumping

37 posts in this topic

I just thought of an idea, that someone should be able to jump fences to get away faster from zombies... Maybe they can jump fences too.. I just think that would be pretty creepy.

Since you can jump, I imagine you can jump fences if you have something to boost you. Perhaps there will be a climbing thing like other games, where you hold on SPACE and you can climb a certain height.

Well you can do that in Call of Duty 4.... but that's not a mod. Or even the same engine....

I don't like the idea of giving zombies the ability to jump over fences. But perhaps an ability for humans to grab the top of the fence and slowly pull your self over but I don't even think that would be possible unless you could mod a ladder some how...

should have it when you get in front of a fence, you hold the action button and a progress bar will progress until your over the fence. =)

also, you could have it so that when zombies do the same, they try to break open the fence or shake off people who are climbing the fence.

Wouldn't that be epic for you all to jump over a wall and watch your last friend get pulled back down as he tries to follow. Sad, I can hear the laughing over ventrillo.

easiest way to do it is probably to stack up boxes or w.e is close by and jump up and over, making it more panic some to stack fast while zombies are running at you

It's a major feature touted for Left 4 Dead. Needless to say, I'd avoid it to avoid copycat accusations.

NMRiH is, or was, a little slower in spirit. No official connection to Romero's dead films, but a hinted similarity that suggests NMRiH will not necessarily be the Dawn 2004 type with sprinting, climbing, agile undead. Fences + zombies = stalemate until the fence falls over ;) But what does it matter? They're on both sides of it.. They're everywhere.

Im pretty sure it would be a feature but also im quite sure it would be a pain in the arse for coders of the mod. If you guys think you are up to it go ahead but this is really not so nesccary for the mod. <_<

Mantling is a good thing for a zombie mod, but it's not a necessity for the first release.

I agree.

Maybe in Beta 4B or 5C.

It sounds like a decent idea though, and personally I'd like to see something like this sometime in future.

I want the best of NMRiH but ideas like these don't have to make it the best of it.

Well, you could just make the windows wide enough to crouch-jump through... Though I suppose this late in the development, something like that would already be decided.

The whole climb over a fence or half-wall thing in the CoD series is awesome. It would be amazing to see that implemented in NMRiH, but I have no idea how hard that would be coding wise since source doesn't have that built in.

being able to climb over fences is involved in mapping. I could pull it off to where you jump onto the fence and quickly climb over but i dont know if there is a way to do it ingame.
