The Zombie Behavior

8 posts in this topic

I remember some dev (maybe Maxx) told me that we can grab and move some objects on the maps to create barricades, a better way than ZPS' way. I was wondering how the zombies are reacting to that? Are they trying to move away the object or go through it or just got stuck next to the object and wait to be killed :D

No, they are actually going to start smoking blunts and drinking alcoholic beverages, and when you get a bit too close to them they'll start mumbling bunch of nonsence at you in a very angry manner and if you don't leave them alone within 10 seconds they gonna put a cap in yo ass.

Right now for barricades all we have is a board and hammer. It's a bit more limited than zps because you can only put it on door frames atm. Although considering that zps didn't have that feature till long after its initial release, it's a start. Zombies will attempt to smash the board and that's about it.

We will touch more on it whenever we get to working on survival gamemode.

So in the current state we cant move freely objects like tables and chairs?

No you're still able to pick up physics props and possibly make your own impromptu barricades with them; they just aren't as plentiful in our official maps since if we want to make highly detailed multiplayer levels on the Source Engine, we have to design them as if we're still living in 1998 :P

We never confirmed this was a feature, it was just an idea people had discussed on the forums. Mappers could easily implement this if they so wanted using entities that already exist, though.
