I know it's cool to hate on popular shit now a days, but does anyone else feel that this is a sad thing? This looks like VALVe jumping on the reboot band wagon. Everything old that was considered a classic is being redone in HD and resold for practically full price. CS:GO screams this tactic. It will be successful, it will be praised, and it will make a hell of a lot of money. The game we needed was CounterStrike 2. Not CSS HD.

So if I see any price tag >$15 USD I'm going to facepalm so hard Gabe Newell's fat will ripple.

I agree with your arguments, but regardless this game will soak up a lot of my time. I miss playing CSS and I definitely will play this game.

I agree.. with some other guy on different topic. With you on this topic, I disagree mostly.

This CSS HD has actually some "new" gameplay-additions to CSS. Molotovs, for example, change the gameplay alot I think. So do changes to maps and defusal kit restricted to two players only. And if I saw right, there's also new guns there that didn't exist before. Few new small gamemodes too. They're small things, but enough to not make this just an visual-update for CSS. But I agree that if it costs more than $15-20, it's no go for me most likely.

Surely though they could have just added all that shit in an update or a content pack or something

Well, that's true.. but it's quite a bit of work for just an update to update engine with new HUD/GUI and buy-system + things I mentioned before. I mean, people pay 15$ for map packs for Call of Doody, if this CS:GO is same price, I think it's quite cool. Also, we just have seen the first shown content of the game, I'm sure Valve has aces in sleeve. Maybe not graphics wise, but gameplay. :)

Screenshots of the game, mostly same scenes as in trailer/videos (Interlopers.net thread): http://www.interlopers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35275

defusal kit restricted to two players only.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to just raise the price again?

This is what we get? Not Episode 3. Not anything worthwhile. A consolized Counter-Strike source, possibly with updated graphics. Why am I not caring much? Maybe they'll make it more impressive as we learn more about it. I doubt it though. Nay. Valve would appear to only support a game for the year or two after it's released unless they're selling hats.

They work on multiple games at a time. I'm sure Episode 3 is being worked on.

I'm thinking that Valve skipped Episode 3 and went to develop Half-Life 3.

Yeah, but I can't help but feel that they're diverting resources away from that to focus on projects like this - little side things that bring in more money but don't contribute to vidya gaming much.

If I have done my e-Sherlock stuff properly, Hidden Path Entertainment is working on CS:GO.

Just a question- In Counter Strike Source, what are those servers whereby if you die, you respawn again rather than having to wait the full round? Those were my favourite but I

can't seem to find them, tried searching for the tag (fast respawn)

I don't get Legion's hate on Valve but without them, Gearbox would still be a relatively unknown company (Valve helped them by giving them contract work on the expansions), Tripwire Interactive would've never survived (They were out of cash and had no publishing deal until Valve gave them one of the best deals with Steam which was still young), the HL mods would've just remained as mods and not successful multi million dollar franchises enjoyed by countless players, PC Gaming would've stagnated some more without Valve's Steam program, and so on

Not cool to bite the hand that feeds you

and Without ID tech giving out the source code to their quake engine valve would of ever existed and neither would this forum or this project and probebly countless other companies and franchises like Call of duty which are making billions of dollars.

This where the phrase "standing on the shoulder of giants" makes sense. Nobody's success is completely their own.

this is really underwhelming. the game looks a little bit better graphically but if you played a ton of cs source why would you want to play(pay?) the exact same shit you've been playing for years? maybe they'll work on remaking half life 1 after this and it'll be the exact same but with fairly better graphics. dust is gettin dusty...let that shit die or maybe give your community the tools to make the old shit themselves while you..i dunno...make some new shit? i just can't see the point in playing this over cs: source at the moment.
