Zombie suggestions

I have know idea what you guys are doing zombie wise. Though as fare as i can see from the vids what you do have is frightening even though they are slow. but I am going to post some suggestions for zombie "types".

Armored: (not like l4d)

armored are cops or military that have been infected they have a high resistance to ranged weapons. They take x% less damage when hit in the chest do to there vest. you can still kill them easily by aiming at the head. Side suggestions give some helmets taht must be shot off before you can shoot them in the head( not strapped on)

bloated zombies: based on a stage of decomposition)

bloated zombies would have slightly less health than other zombies as they are decaying, but they make up for this in the fact that they have a chance of exploding on death if not hit in the head.(some of the chemicals given off by a body in decomp are explosive)

I am going to stop here as I really have no idea what I am doing.

We plan on having:

Shamblers - Your traditional Romero zombie. Harmless alone, lethal in hordes.

Armored - Soldiers and Special Response units who have been felled by the undead, no trudging along slowly in their head-to-toe body armor.

Runners - the fresh infected, before muscles give out and tendons go rigid, players killed by infection will arise as runners (AI controlled) and about 1 out of every 20 zombies will be a runner.

Children - young children moving in packs like wolves. I hate children.

Torsos - slowly pulling themselves along the floor, looking up at unsuspecting survivors and latching on to their ankles!

Currently the only ones in the build are the shamblers. We hope to get either the runners or the armored ones in next. Not all zombie types will be ready for our first release.

The bloated is a nice idea in theory but it would be instantly compared to the Boomer or whatever from L4D, which we're trying to avoid comparisons like that.

yep just bloated as in decomposed.

Another idea (based on images of skeletons taht still have some flesh on them.

Skeletal

Skeletal zombies are slow like the shamblers but they are harder to hit as most of the flesh on there bodies is gone. A skeletal is the result of a body being feasted on by zombies.

Hahah bloated zombie making some kind of explosion can be sensible. Their decomposition or major inflammation of infection causing them to bloat will have every bullet spewing blood, bile, and infection out of their body.

I also like the idea of skeletal zombies. Just the name of it reminds me of a classic movie or imagination of skeletons or extremely decomposed zombies walking amidst the night. As I may say, it just needs a map to fit their beauty in. I imagine a zombie like a fireman or soldier could be one of those moments your a room, which you can get out with one of them coming at you with heavy strength and you try hard to avoid them. They are like a seldom boss type zombie that can be seen out in the open or in a room alone where the infection must've took them on their last stand in a corner.

Ok I would run from anything that is literally spewing bile blood and what ever else can come out of the human body. FOr reasons of gross whats thae green stuff.

Dont forget:

(all of these have shambler and runner versions, so that doubles the number of types.)

vested zombies

-Mortorcyclist/cyclist/construction zombie

zombies that wear protective helmets, blocks some head bullet damage, block almost all head melee damage.

*motorcyclist can not bite.

*construction zombie has reflective bands that makes them easier to spot in the dark, creating an eerie glow when flashlights hit it.

-Firemen zombies

Fireproof, have more resistant armor and usually come with helmets that block melee head damage.

-Straitjacket zombies

arms are bound, causes the zombie to only try and bite, can not break obstructions and takes longer to get up if stumbled.

Hazardous zombies:

-Wicker zombies

zombies that are coated with a flammable substance, and may burst into flames if shot, has a chance of causing an explosion.

-Immolated zombies

zombies that are coated with a flammable substance, already lit and may light wicker zombies, or cause environmental fire damage, expires after 1-2 minutes.

-Barbie zombies

zombies still bloodily tangled and ravaged with barbed wire, cause more melee damage and higher infection chance if clawed or bitten.

special zombies

-Albino zombies

sensitive to any light source, spawns in the dark only, has glowing red eyes, inhumanly pale skin and white hair.

-Ginger zombies

kick them for extra damage.

Zombies like Uncle Reej from The Night of the Living Dead remake (90's) would be good, that zombie freaked me the fuck out. Fat zombies, they dont explode or throw up, but it's a nice difference in the crowd to see someone who liked pizza turn into a zombie.

I jsut came up with another suggestion.

DEAD ARMS.

Dead arms are runners or shamblers that still have their weapon in there hands. they deal slightly more damage than normal (half there normal melee damage plus the melee damage of the weapon.) some of the dead arms still have ammo for their weapon. they can drop some mags on death (ones with ammo have a back pack) You can pick up the weapon held by a dead arm most of the time it will have no ammo.

side suggestions for this one:

*The Dead arms will drop there weapon if shot in the arm.

*most commonly found with pistols

*mapper can set a dead arm to spawn at a spat with a specific weapon

*has a armored variant (military)

Just to add onto of the Dead Arm idea you posted, what about a "Explosive Orientated" Dead Arm that gives you explosive weapons (ie grenades or molotovs) but can be a very serious danger to you and others if not properly disposed of.

Think of it like this, a Military Serviceman or a crazy pyromaniac carrying a bandoleer of hand grenades or molotov cocktails. He dies by the undead and arises, wandering the streets. Equipped with the Hand Grenades, he is effectively a walking bomb while the other one with Molotov's becomes a perpetual fire hazard. Stray Shots to the chest have a high chance of an explosion, sending lethal shrapnel in all directions in the case of the Hand grenades or befalling a large patch of fire from the shattered Molotovs.

Just some idle notes:

  • Melee Weapons more useful in this regard, zero chance of an explosion through blunt impact or slicing/stabbing
  • Firearms potentially dangerous in close encounters, only a headshot will safely guarantee a confirmed kill, any shot that strays to the chest will cause an explosion. A successful headshot will yield a person a number of Molotovs/Grenades (not many, something like 1 or 2 usable grenades/molotovs).
  • Grenade Zombies explode when shot in the chest, the Zombie carrying the grenades are vaporised when shot and damaging all those near it occasionally creating Zombie Torso's, showers an area in a large spray of metal shrapnel that can seriously damage or kill human players in the vicinity, even when fairly far away.
  • Molotov Zombie erupts in flames and leaves behind a massive patchwork of flame potentially blocking a route or access way. Zombie is still moving in this state and becomes an undead walking torch that can inflict further fire based damage.

only problem with that is the grenades one. the only way that it will go off is if the zombie manages to pull the pin which is very unlikely sense at most the zombie is going to try and club you with it. grenades are designed so they don't just go off at random no even shooting one with lets say a 9mm pistol (take your pick) can set it off.

The Molotov on the other hand makes sense but Molotovs are very inconstant what may brake one will not break another. also some times they will not cause the desired pool of fire, other times they can manage to light themselves eternally making them useless. so they unlike the grenades are not 100% likely to do the damage they are meant to.

don't know if this is counted as raising a dead topic sense it is the top topic.

Another zombie idea

Blind eyes

blind eyes are zombies with no eyes and even some times no heads or face. blind eyes are unique in the way they "hunt" they follow sound and can hear any movement. Blind eyes are a mutant variant of undead as they can navigate any obstacle in there way but have no visible way that they can do it. these zombies track the players unlike normal zombies they "hunt" there targets and will only change targets once they are dead, the target is infected, or the target is dead.

Looks: blind: missing eyes ,face or even the hole head and skinny as hell, you can see there bones.

behavior: if alerted by a player they will hunt said player till (see above), they run on all fours this makes them slightly faster than runners.

how to get them off your ass: kill them, trigger an alarm, may draw other zombies but they will try and destroy the source of the alarm

WILD DOGS (not zombie)

wild dogs are big dogs that have been abandoned, they have been left in the infected areas feasting off of rotten flesh which has driven theses common house hold pets mad. Wild dogs will attack and kill anything they think a threat zombie or player.

looks: 3 main types, huskies, labs, and bulldogs

behavior: will work together in groups of up to 5 to kill a target, will protect there territory.

notes:

*wild dogs can easily avoided if you spot there area(med sized area devoid of zombies)

*wild dogs can be used as a weapon if you can draw zombies in to there area

*do not feed them wait feed them you might get a passive weapon or lose your arm(not elaborating just a joke)

wheelchair undead(just a joke)

a zombie that's in or pushing a wheelchair this is a harmless zombie in a way it can't hurt you.

notes:

* sometimes there is a weapon or ammo in the wheelchair (rare)

*this zombie still remembers how to use a wheelchair

* poor old bastard

Hey, whats about body bag zombie?

It´s zombie trapped in body bag, because dead was put to bag before reanimatation. Bag is totally enclosure, zombie can´t go out and in this enclosure bag is massive decomposing proces and produce gas with infection(bag is bloated compare to normal bag with dead body)... You can kill(or simply make a detour without kill) with blunt weapon, but with blade weapon or firearm you break wall of bag and toxic gas with bacteria comes out and you are infected.
