Zombie

34 posts in this topic

Hey all. In my Project Management class, we have to run an ad-campaign for a game, part of which is a trailer. The game I'll spare you, but just so you know, there's a scene with zombies. So that's what I'm doing, a zombie.

THE-FRONTAL_Modelsheet_done.jpg

That's the model sheet, drawn by someone else, not myself, looks good though.

ZombieInProgress.jpg

And my current WIP Zombie.

I think it's going good so far, I've never even thought about modeling human figures before this project, so the fact that I have to model, skin, texture, rig, and animate it, is a bit nuts. But I'm tryin!

looks good. I would select the edges in the middle of the chest and move them in abit. 622 poly = triangles? or quads? ( i dont use 3DSMAX,so i dont know).

Quads, I think we're shooting for under 5,000 triangles, My personal goal is 3,000 because there are probably going to be a few of these guys on the screen at once...

Good idea with the middle chest verts, I didn't even think of that -.- In time Flea, in time.

HeadInProgress.jpg

What's that? My first ever head in Progress? Oh noes!

Can't wait to do the zombie one once I finish this tutorial. That should take a few hundred hours >.>

-edit-

JoanOfArcBodyFinished.jpg

Done with the head. Time to take a break from modelling, I'm about to go nuts -.-

Starting back up tnight at 8 to get the head of the zombie done, 3 hour break. Wish me luck.

Then I've got to unwrap it tmrw. Then Rig it(easy), then skin it(not so easy).

So here's hoping I can get it done.

LOL! He looks retarded right now, what with the no ears or nose part. Lulz -.-

Ears coming tmrw or Monday, rigging tmrw, don't really need to rig ears so why the hell not do it after...

No nose, it has no nose. Smashed in. Gritty textures will come later. Woot.

Isn't it? It's creepy as hell. It's also got decayed eyelids and very pronounced Cheek bones, as well as decaying and ripped off flesh >.>

Maybe some hair too!

It's caved in. That'll come in texture >.>

what are you going to use to texture it? I recommend 3D-brush! :D If you decide to add ears, keep in mind they tilt about 15 degree backwards from the skull.

Yeah texturing is not easy to learn..takes ALOT more patience then say modeling, or rigging.

Lol thats one messed up face :D Proportions of features on characters often make the biggest difference. Anyhoo, for a first charatcer its going great. Even if it does remind me of something from very very far way :D

That's a one mother-*beep*-weird-looking zombie or what-ever I've seen before. But it's WiP and it's changing right?

Argh, it looks wierd because it has no nose, I'm well aware of this >.>

And it's not textured yet or anything, and it may be getting Z-Brushed, depending on time constraints.

yeah he'll look alot better with a normal map, and for that to happen you need to sculpt. Though i'll never understand peolpe fascination with poorly design sculpting apps :P Mudbox FTW!

BTW, i would make his hand abit bigger, right now they are abit too small for his frame(body type).

Can you post a shaded view with wireframe overlay? i'd like to see the poly flow..
