Oh wow that guy has been playing too much MW2.

"HE'S GOT A BAG, IT'S AN RPG OPEN FIRE"

It actually did look like one of them was carrying an RPG. Then again, the video isn't clear enough to know for sure.

The Reuters group have a right to be pissed. The intentions of the gunner and crew were to kill and nothing more. They abused the rules of engagement. Unfortunately this type of thing happens all the time. Every once and awhile an incident becomes public.

Just watched it, heard about it the other day though. Man, that's just brutal. they didn't really try and bother to confirm/deny that the targets were insurgents. And then when they shot that Hellfire in to that house, there was a dude just walking down the street minding his own business when a missile SMASHED IN FRONT OF HIS FEET. Talk about shitty.

You need to remember this is combat and sometimes its best to shoot and think later... for instance... you drive up to a HMMWV and get just a little to close they with put you in a coffin with out yelling at you.

Watch that guy swing whatever he's carrying there. Even if it's not a gun, I can see where a misunderstanding might come into place.

Uhm, I'm gonna go ahead and assume that carrying a gun on the streets of Baghdad is not unusual and does not immediately make you a legitimate target for a fucking one ton attack helicopter.

But that's just me.

Uh yeh, a pointless war where incompetents are given control of one ton floating chunks of metal with missiles attached to the sides. Let's just stare blankly at our computer screens instead. Lest we forget, we do have far more important topics to share our pointless opinions about. Like the latest arbitrary plot twist in Lost and trying to finally determine if Havikk could indeed fight 20 marmots to the death and win.

He could.

But that's just me.

Lol at the picture.

Their vision is pretty sharp and imo its clearly visible that those are neither AKs nor RPGs.. Maybe its different if you actually sit in the chopper all geared up and shaky, but yeah..

I dont want to deny that it could have been an accident, but it looks more like a massacre to me.

"Oorah!"

That's a negative, Ghost Rider. Oorah is reserved for Marines, and while they're still prone to the occasional fuck-up, they're smart enough to NOT FILM IT.

The word you're looking for is hooah:

I can't see this to be the fault of the gunner and crew; they reacted quickly to what they perceived as a possible threat and they did their job well (When your life is on the line by flying around in a hostile environment, it's not a good idea to second guess yourself unless you want to go home in pieces)

Plus this all could have been avoided to an extent if the journalists had been wearing equipment that clearly marked them as members of the press (kevlar vests and helmets that are normally issued and marked for war reporters for example)

I can see how idiots engaged in an unnecessary war can be excused for killing unarmed men. I can certainly understand this when considering that they would have had a better view of the situation than anyone watching the video. It's also excusable that higher ups deferred the medical treatment of children who were wounded there to providers who were not capable of administering the same quality of care to avoid a PR disaster, but ended up getting fucked anyhow. The constant barrage of euphemisms and bullshit denials the press side of the military provides are also kosher.

It still isn't a war. If congress would get on board already, we could just finish this thing with the other 2/3 of the military.

Hundreds of thousands of people engaged in protracted combat is not war. I agree.

That gif slowed down.

The last pic taken by the camera man peaking around the corner.

These men decided to place themselves within a group of armed men that were moving towards a Coalition vehicle column. Even if the pilots were able to tell that two of them were carrying cameras; they could have been there to film the attack, like the insurgents often do.
