Well apparently they do and I just sent in my application. I'll be in the reserves until I'm 17 then I'll switch to an active duty infantry unit. Do a three year stint and see if I like it and would like to make it career. Now destroy my self-esteem and make me feel shitty for my decision!

Cheers for the [Military] thread. Hope to join the Air Force this summer if I can get my weight down.

Stupid decision, get a real job.

Also, Why do you keep putting things in square brackets, Will?

Oh, I'm used to seeing it on the Penny Arcade forums. Plus, it's fun.

And the military is a real job.

Oh well I could work at rockstar and churn out games but that would be uninteresting and not as pleasingly painful as being in the military. I need a physical job. One that interests me. Plus even if I don't want to make it a career I can say I did my three years and feel proud of doing such.

This isn't the Penny Arcade forums. Why would it be fun to put something in square brackets? And why would you cheers him for making a thread about the CF? Stop being so bizarre.

The military is where all the morons from high school end up because they aren't good at anything else.

Generally speaking I don't have much "respect" for people in the military because most don't join out of "patriotism" or a sense of pride, they just join it because "I don't know what else to do" they say. I can't respect that, not at all.

Those who do join out of pride or sense of duty, I can respect that and it is somewhat admirable but there are more important things you could do if you had such a sense of pride and duty rather than joining the CF and wasting your time shoveling snow and squatting around in Afghanistan waiting to get killed by a road-side bomb.

I'm not saying that my job is superior, I don't have that sense of pride or duty. I did once, that's why I did what I did when I was in high school with the CF, but that has long since passed and I grew out of it. I just do what I have fun doing even though the company sucks a massive cock (I won't be there much longer I tell you that much).

If you're truly joining the CF because you will enjoy it and have fun doing it, then that is something I can support. Our lives are quite short. Even if you live to be 80, only 40 of those years are actually usable for anything worthwhile. After that, you're just taking up space. So enjoy it while you can, and if you gotta work, work at something that gives you boners.

Maxx, clearly you don't understand. The Air Force is the ultimate gig. Free college, and four years of fried chicken and wiping floors.

Did you know the planes to and back are like giant movie theaters with comfortable chairs and shit? And, no joke, fried chicken. That's better than all the other branches.

Iraq, man. At least the ones to Baghdad. My dad's cousin's husband was in the Air Force for 8 years as a doctor.

Yes. I guess that could sound confusing when we're talking about the Air Force...

Yeah.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I wanna go with the Aerial Gunner position. Get my hands dirty doing something before I go to college.

Fuck that, fight on the front like a real man!

Then you can get back in bits and pieces and go into my soup to replenish the other soldiers, you cannot break the cycle.

Cannot break it.

Or get a real job where your mind and body won't break like brittle lego pieces. Suit yourself.

You're lucky if you pass bootcamp. Smoking weed while you do it helps alot.

The processing for the forms takes 3-4 months if i'm lucky...

and Maxx it is something I'm passionate about. I may not make it a full career. I might just do a tour of duty and a three year stint so I can feel I've helped my country and maybe even the world, a little bit. I do not misunderstand what I might do, I'm probably just going to dig ditches and burn shit for three years but fuck if that helps then I'll do it. If I like the job then I will stay with the career for the rest of my life. You can retire at 40 with a full pension if you join at my age. If I'm still healthy that's plenty of time to go see the world and do what I want. Maybe virtual reality will be out by then? Hehe.
