i like goin back through here and see if i'm still listening to any of these tracks anymore. which ones managed to stay in rotation and which ones i played to death and haven't listened to in eons so maybe it's time to wear it out again (or at least give it one more play to help me procrastinate just that bit much more). same with albums. that and reminding me of songs i've been meaning to scoop up but forgot to. plus i don't listen to much in the way of pop, but you manage to give me some subpop from time to time that sticks with me and intrigues me into further research. thus the tradition continues.

That's cool. I really enjoy finding new music and sharing it, or even sharing old music. I often find that the last 9 or 10 songs in my playlist always go over the 20 listen mark in a few days...because I abuse those poor songs for every drop of enjoyment. On the "Played To Death Note" (the title of my new chillwave band) I found that watching music channels for a few hours manages to cement that. So far, it's ANYTHING AT ALL by Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Coldplay, Nirvana, U2 and Guns and Roses. All bands with a large catalogue and all having at least one song that i loved at some point...but after hearing them over and over again (Give it Away was on 9 times one day, I counted. It was on two stations at the same time at one point) they can all fuck off and die :)

Also, Shit Fuck! Ruined my own one week delay goof by delaying it by two weeks. Oh well.

Somebody Else- The 1975

Not sure how big these young chaps are in the US, but I do hope they are huge. They have a great range from funky electro pop to shoe gaze with an oddly cute lead singer and nice level of pretension (their first few videos were in black and white) The newest album is a little more electronic tinged but is still amazing.

Solid Ground- Leitbur

Some 80's inspired goodness (which is true of every Leitbur song)

Handsome- The Vaccines

Most of my Fridays and Saturdays (and some work days) usually end up at 4 in the morning in an indie club.

i'm not a valid source for what 'the kids' are into over here honestly.  sub-pop is about as poppy as i get. cute girls singing about dark shit over electronic music does it for me.

The kids are all into their Pokemons and Hannah Montanas I think.

There's something a little off about the needlessly apocalyptic piano break...but that chorus.

I really like the whole synth heavy new retro wave thing. Even though there wasn't a single fucking song in the eighties that sound ANYTHING like that.

The 15 year old me's idea of edgy...they're still a good pop band though.

I am absolutely adoring those vocals on the Perturbator track, not sure what it is. I'm feeling like she'd do a good "Smalltown Boy" cover

Sarah Barthel In Latex- Sarah Barthel In Latex

So there used to be a channel on British TV that just played indie and alternative stuff from either lesser known or unsigned bands. IT WAS THE TITS. The metaphorical, not the physical as above.

Keep Your Eyes On The Road- Lone Wolf

Red Cow- mewithoutyou

there used to be a public tv show in the area (think it was roanoke va back in like 97ish) where you could call in and vote on what video would be played, and they usually showed the alternative shit that was no longer played on mtv and other stations.  late night mtv had it's time...then it was mtv2 when reality tv and game shows became a thing. even beavis and butthead would introduce you to decent music from all sorts of genres.  it's cool youtube exists though...now people can not listen to anything and just use other people's opinions :D

GTA V introduced me to Phantogram with KYSA, which led to Purity Ring, CHVRCHES, Lana del Ray and the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs thanks to Pandora. Toss in Grimes and some Cults and that's pretty much my Sub-pop that is in continual rotation. Outside of that it's like old Linda Perry songs, or Garbage. I'm still searching for similar shit, mildly poppy but primarily dark electronic based music.

Dark Synthwave though I can fucks with all day

Yeah there's similar channels like that in the UK, with like the chat and stuff as well from the people requesting music. Some of them have pictures that people post to it as well, in the corner of the screen overlaying on the music video.

After around 9PM that shit is just full of girls with their tits out or shots of them in their panties dudes showing their abs. There was a channel called (unironically) Box Hits...I think it was something like that...Anyway, it was a music channel that played modern pop stuff but the overlay was a Babe Show*.

It was fairly entertaining (in an odd way) to watch people argue over music choices and then suddenly TITS. Then people requesting the same song that's been on 3 times already and then HOT GUY WITH NO SHIRT.

*

In case this isn't something that is outside of the UK let me explain. Babe shows are a channel/ phone sex line service where the girls answering the calls are on screen. Usually 1 to 3 naked Essex girls on a bed, shower or something similar who will bump, bounce, grind and play with themselves/each other whilst taking calls. I've probably made it sound better and also worse than it is. It's trashy but it's not as exploitative as it sounds and there were a fair few that had dudes in their boxers grinding on stuff as well. There are around 40 of these channels on UK television (and folks call us prudish) It's not something I've ever watched, it's not my thing. (I prefer to watch girls through their windows, it's not a gay thing but more of a power thing) But that concludes a little view into Britain. In our next episode I'll show you "White power skinheads going for a curry after a protest" and "Telling foreigners the wrong directions and then meeting them at their intended destination"

But actually music.

Now, BMTH were kind of a punching bag for years. The shitty "deathcore" music and the look of the band being the maing factors. BUT with their last two albums being significantly less "screamy" and with their last output pretty much being an electronic pop rock album I have become really fond of them. Not to mention their attitude to album leaks which was "fuck it, we'll just release the album early"

Avalanche- Bring Me The Horizon

Skindred are an odd little duck. Ragga, Metal, Punk, Hip-Hop is their self proclaimed genre.

Doom Riff- Skindred

I love when electronica goes full dance punk

Go Time- Digitalism

And the always excellent HEALTH, with their amazing contrasts between heavy ass instrumentation and super soft vocals.

STONEFIST- HEALTH

Snake Eyes- Frank Carter And The Rattlesnakes

A Mountain With No Ending- Classixx Ft. Panama

Something nice and soothing.

I can't lie to you about your chances, but... you have my sympathies.

Happy Holidays and New Year to all!

I hope that the Bearded ancient one, the blood cloaked judge, master of wishes, lord of the flying bulls and tyrant of the lesser elves granted everyone that pony they wanted and that copious amounts of liquor were imbibed, tongues stuck down many throats and many promises instantly broken.

Here's a bunch of songs that sum up the end of my year*

Metrosexuals Creating Breathy, Dreamy Track With Retro Outro.

Mutant Louse Fetus Plays Tiny Trumpet

Hypnotic Cowboy, Tortures Kidnap Victim

Having Confusing (Possibly Racist) Thoughts Over Girl With Sexy Body

And...Watch Dogs 2 Was Pretty Good.

* or maybe they're just a bunch of songs I like...who knows

Continuing my journey inward, tryin to understand myself (and my motivations) better, in hopes of becoming who i feel i am intended to be, one step at a time. Tryin to be patient with others, despite how hard they make it some times. Trying to listen to more shit that keeps me calm, I still enjoy metal, but it's use as a cathartic device is dulling over time, my anger along with it. Almost done with my personal project, ya'll might dig it. A lil hybrid book/comic book, this particular one is a story about infidelity and werewolves(...not infidelity amongst werewolves though).

That's looking pretty cool. I really, really like the whole look of the tearing part. A nice visceral design that appears straining and effortless all at once. With the clenched teeth baring jaw coupled with almost apathetic disinterest shown by the wolf who is staring in another direction, like it ain't no thang.

Funnily enough I was actually thinking a scene that I always remembered and enjoyed from An American Werewolf in Paris, which I checked on Youtube and I totally remebered it wrong. In my mind there was always a scene where the hero werewolf grabbed the antagonist (in human form) on the shoulders then pulled him apart, splitting him down the middle like some kind of autopsy/banana peel scene and ate his heart whilst it was still suspended in the air. TURNS OUT THAT NEVER HAPPENS IN THE FILM, but it's an image that I have always associated with at movie, but I guess I must have made it up and kind of associated it somehow? Since no one else did it (apparently) You can use that in your comic story book... as long as you quote me and give me all the moneys.

It's cool that you're keeping calm and losing some anger (not that I have seen it) I wish you all the best. I kind of forced myself to hide my anger whenever I'm in a public setting (work, nights out whatever) a few months ago. I still get frustrated and roll my eyes at stuff, but now stupid things that would always enfuriate me I am finding much easier to bursh off and laugh at rather than go into some angry outburst...I've been constantly vomiting blood since I started but I reckon that's what they call progress.

I've not smoked since mid December. SUPER stressed as a result, to the point where it is impacting my verbal and written communication (vocabulary and grammar suffering tremendously) The stress is making it hard to get the words out correctly. *I actually went back to edit this because my initial attempt was completely nonsensical (as opposed to my mildly nonsensical brand)

Anywho. Music!
