Leave the self-parody to actual metallers and quit unintentionally mocking your own stupidity.
Aw bwess. You actually think I was poking fun at you. Aw. And I suppose by ACTUAL metallers you mean instrument abusers. For the record I love metal, even some 'extreme' metal.

ALSO my old music teacher used to recommend obscure bands to me like ADM (and Forever Never, Karnivool stuff like that). They do use a lot of recycled hacked metallica riffs and the vocals are hardcore punkesque but not bad music to drive to overall.

I'm pretty sure that's a quote out of Gaahls diary.

Why did you have to edit that? Now my post makes even less sense! Hmpf. I really need to start using the mahafahking reply button.

My music teacher quized us on Slayer when we had a test on "the history of contemporary music" or some such shit. Pretty fucking awesome, he also tried to teach me a couple of Vader riffs.

Vader was the shit back in the nineties...although not so much anymore :/ "The Beast" was pretty poopy and the vocals no longer do it for me.

True that. Same goes for Slayer, but with the 80s being their glory days rather than the 90s, I suppose. During the quiz he played "Raining Blood" though, so it's all good.

A person that has not lost it with age is King Diamond and his band, consistent motherfuckers to say the least. "Give Me Your Soul... Please" was pretty uninspired and shitteh though, sadly. Still, almost three decades of kicking fucking ass, and I still like to believe he can bounce back.

I agree about king diamond... even at his age, he is still awsome.

Hater hater Christian Slater!

Why though? I guess Mercyful Fate was a bit heavier. His vocals sure dident change, well, except that the production got tighter, on the other hand I suppose the lyrics did change.

i could never get into the high pitched vocals, i was into hip-hop and horror rap like grave diggaz and shit up until i was like 13-14 (1994-95?) then i found pantera's cowboys from hell and from there went on to cannibal corpse's the bleeding. i still love hip hop, still love metal...but i listen to a redunkulous amount of dubstep these days.

Same goes for skate punk, metal(CAN Y'ALL SPELL NUCLEAR BLAST?!) and pop, as in alot of it being quite shitteh. Nowadays sucks pretty hard, overall, as far as music is concerned.

Not that I have taste in anything, but still!

We derailed this thread good, dident we?

I guess I'll throw some good modern country(well, sort of country)into the mix. Bonnie Prince Billy - Cursed Sleep

1. Real southerners would rather hear a fat girl fart than a pretty boy sing.

2. Hinson is a vampire, Henson made vampire muppets.

Cant put my finger on it. Could it be the lack of ".....................satan™" in the lyrics?

You forgot the important wine sip!

Sure, I guess the whole "horror story" thing never worked for you? It did change the atmosphere of the music. I mean, it's a pretty cool concept to have a little story spanning across an album. To be totally honest though, I don't really listen that closely to the lyrics. But I see where you are comin' from... call off the voodoo ritual Poncho, Cannabis is off the hook.

edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yFCwDU3bw4 Hold me. I'm not even such a big fan of heavy metal, but Mercyful Fate and King Diamond man... So fucking good.

1. as a "real southerner" i can attest.

2. my bad home skillet, i only heard of him through my beloved squidbillies so forgive the vowel flip floppy.

i think all off topic posts are expected to go off topic at some point...same reason why religious posts go here...cuz they're fucking off topic.

I respect almost all musical genres and bands.

Austrian Death Machine is not respectable. "Hey lets steal a genuinely good idea from this lesser-known band and make money off it because we're already well established. And lets make the music really generic and bad."

Sorry, it's just that most of your posts seem to be exchanging cute little quips with me. And "instrument abuser"? I don't even know what that means. Do I try to play technically difficult pieces? Absolutely. But I'd just as gladly play demanding classical or jazz pieces as much as metal. It's just that at this point, it's a bit more fun for me to play metal and the riff structure is much easier than the more linear structures of many classical and jazz songs. I just hate nearly everything that isn't of the three genres mentioned in this paragraph. But I've gotten quite over attempting to get people to "understand" metal or much anything else for that matter.

And sickjoe, best songs off The Bleeding would be Stripped, Raped, and Strangled (I play the shit out of this one), the title track (also play this quite a bit), and Fucked With A Knife.

Oh, hey, Noobcannon posted something other than the virtual Luxembourg wheat harvest!

ADM is not obscure. How does recycled anything sound good?

Obscure to me...I usually don't listen to that stuff. PLUS I never saw any of their albums in stores or anything, or had indeed ever heard of them before 'Teach' recommended them.

And if you read my post you'll notice I was critical of their recycling and (to a lesser extent) the vocals

And "instrument abuser"? I don't even know what that means.

Pretty much any and all of these throwaway bands that get a couple of biggups on myspace and decide to make a record. Talentless wanabes who dress in black, paint their faces and sing about Satan or death or rape or some form of farm equipment. Those hacks that grunt over badly distorted guitars and shitty drumming (See: Job For a Cowboy)

I think you know the kind of bands I'm reffering to...the ones with overblown videos and the like
