I like SKS Simonov! It's very nice rifle. Cheap, powerfull, good acuraccy, but i shoot with CZ 858 and for me is better. I love it! I will be happy if sometime in this mode will appear...

One of my best friends has a CZ858, it's real nice. Maybe we'll include it in the future.

As for the military sniper, it's already planned to be the M14 EBR.

And XxROXxX, I'm Canadian so we have some strict firearms laws too, but we can own lots of fun things :)

Guns are guns, they only do two things. 1. Shoot 2. Kill if your aim was good.

guns can be used for loads of other stuff that are not killing

Contact the RCMP or the Chief Firearms Office. The firearms laws are basically universal throughout Canada although some local areas (such as the City of Toronto) prohibit firearms clubs but you can still own them wherever.

Guns that are legal or illegal are universal across the country. Message me if you want more information.

you should have a M24 or M40 in the game, they are used by both army and marines

Maybe the marine unit AI that walks around later in development can have marskmen with them?

They will be using the EBR.

They will be using the EBR.

Makes sense, considering the common engagement range in an urban setting is never more than 200 to 300 metre's or less

EDIT:

I'd also presume most of the Marine units will be armed with weapons similar to the Insurgency mod or to real life contemporary marines? Squad Leader with an M4, a few guys armed with M16's maybe one or two with either attached grenade launchers or carrying a fuckton of hand grenades, one with a EBR and maybe one carrying a shotgun for door breaching and close quarters

squad leaders use M4's only in army, Marine's squad leaders uses the same gun as the rest of the squad, the M16A4, squad leaders are the only ones in squad to carry a M92FS 9mm pistol (the famous "Beretta"), there aren't normally more than 1 soldier in a squad with a grenade launcher, nearly all of them have frag grenades, the ones who don't have them are normally either medics or specialists (the ones with slug shotguns to breach doors).

i wonder if marines would still use those kind of load outs when they know they're fighting close range soft targets. i would imagine there would be some room for adaptation in such an extreme environment...then again they might not have time to figure such things out since the mod takes place not too long after the shit goes down i suppose.

I'd imagine they'd be equipped initially with standard load outs during the beginning stages of an outbreak but they might get re-issued additional weapons at a supply drop or at a checkpoint to better facilitate the need for Close Quarters, Room to Room Combat. Ya know, when the first wave is out and they've had time to re-adjust to their surroundings.

Yeah, but if the USAS-12s that they would be equipped with at that point were actually implemented in the game, NMRIH would be too much fun, and could potentially upset the balance of the universe.

I don't think USAS12s are standard issue as far as I know.

Correct. The US military uses the Mossberg 590 and Benelli M4.

I like that idea that someone had a while back: where a player would play as a rooftop military sniper a la 28 weeks later ,and try to kill the players on the street as they tried to get to a waypoint.

Yes, for that one player who is sniping on the rooftop. Others would have crappy times when avoiding zombies and sniper bullets.

While taking potshots at the sniper.

That's a scenario i can see me play through.

Well aren't you going to be fighting zombies either way??

Besides, fighting zombies by itself could get stale after a while, having to avoid "sniper bullets" would add a new dynamic to the gameplay.

or just a sniper helping the people, but he might have a hard time telling this from that

This sounds far better, sniper should aid others to escape or something.. This sounds pretty good idea. :) One or two guys are at the rooftops and they have sniper/assault rifle which they can use to lower the number of zombies. Players starting on the streets have some smaller guns/melee weapons to put up a small resistance against zombies.

They're not, but if the military identified zombies as soft targets and wanted to respond accordingly, the USAS 12 just springs to mind for me. I do know that some military branches have purchased them in the past, but how many, and how long ago I don't know.

considering every server will have at least one griefer, anyways. i can't see this being much different, other than the fact that its supposed to happen.
