Weapon Suggestion Thread

I started a thread or whatever on the modsite Gamebanana (formerly FPSbanana) a whileback http://gamebanana.com/concepts/167

I didn't get much out of it so on a whim I searched nmrih mods and found this thread site (who knew!)

Heres some things I guess. I won't expect anything to be made but heres some stuff I was messing around with

• M1 Garand, easily morphed over the SKS animations

• Insurgency (the mod) Makarov

and those are the only two that are substantial enough for me to mention beforehand.

A feather in the cap to whoever considers these.

I usually play NMRIH solo (I don't succeed very often accordingly but I still like to attempt)

I used to mod CS:S and post my work on FPSBanana (Yes, I did so during the time it was called FPSBanana back in 2009). It's been very long ever since I have done some modding.

But for future references, please do not post them here as this is the Weapon Suggestion thread and is intended only for weapon suggestions for NMRiH.

You can post this on the "Models, Skins and Animations" section of our forums. That is the proper place for you to post this.

These aren't mods these are just models masked over the default animations in source filmmaker; they aren't compiled in any way. I'm suggesting these models.

Alright, got you on that. Don't know why you felt showcasing your masking methods but they're cool regardless.

Unfortunately both firearms are using cartridges not even available in the game (personally would love to see the Garand). We don't want to add more ammotypes as it confuses the community a bit, but thanks nonetheless.

Italian versions of M1 Garand are produced in .308 Winchester. My friend have one. Its just normal Garand with different round chamber and has ammo clip for .30-06 which is improved in back for shorter .308 Win.

However, i would love to see .30-06 ingame.

Looks like CMP is actually selling converted and modified Garands on .308 Winchester. SWEET! I actually didn't know this. :D

M1 Garand is scumbag rifle... I hate ejected clips in my face. Still smoother bolt operation than Heckler&Koch G3.

with the workshop, are we able to add new weapons to the game, without replacing current weapons ?

same for zombie models and characters..

and if not, are you planing to give the community the access/tools or whatever to be able to add new weapons, characters etc ?

Who said you needed new ammotypes? Makarovs shoot 9mm (probably different caliber 9mms but "9mm" nonetheless) and who's to say you can't substitute the SKS 7.62 ammunition for the garand; all in all, I'm basically trying to reach out to anyone who at the very least could make these "skins" or model replacements as mods --- seeing how unless you're a high-social-ranker on Gamebanana you can't expect anyone to so much as glance your direction.

My reasoning for showing the masking thingies is to show how easily they could be simply placed on existing animations. Ever heard of c_models? Swap the gun model and compile it on default animations. I'd do it myself but I know jack about model exporting/creating/whathaveyou

I never was good at being complete with my thoughts in a single post, I don't get much practice communicating since I'm a total socialphobic recluse

After this I'd like to drop my part of the discussion: Either someone to make it a "skin mod" or official game weapon; why I posted here. But thats not really a problem

As for the mention of c_models, I figured as much but I always add a bit of what I know to show people (I often come off on forums as "that guy who goes on an on about something") I knew what I was talking about and not just spouting buzzwords like a 10 year old.... in some cases its a bad habit thats hard to break but... well... I think I'm just droning on again now. Thanks

Lee-Enfield (Would unfortunately require a new ammo type, .303 British)

XM-29 OICW (Extremely rare assault rifle with night vision scope and grenade launcher (probably don't make the latter functional)

Winchester M1887 (Extremely rare Terminator esque lever cocking animation pls)

Colt Detective .38 Special (Snubnose Revolver)

Chiappa Triple Threat 12 Gauge (Triple barrel shotgun for the lols)

This game is pointed to be "realistic" I remember promise in 2010, maybe where was headshot instant kill for all guns, no cure for infection.

And now? Its balanced for fun. Still, this gun-ammo changing is horrible.

Btw, using 9mm Luger in Makarov with blowback action is pure suicide attempt.

Well, there's 22lr conversion kits for Makarovs.

I just think the game needs at least one pocket pistol, I see more people owning them than full sized pistols where I live so there'd be an abundance of them during an apocalypse

I haven't seen a nail gun in NMRIH... Why there isn't a nail gun? It is a no brainer.

It would be a great short range weapon and it can be used for placing barricade planks, just much faster than by doing it with a hammer!

You should also add a semi-auto shotgun such as Benelli M4 and Saiga 12.

Oh, I agree with the idea of faster barricading, don't get me wrong. I'm all for that idea and I myself have pondered the idea, but not the part of it being a weapon.

Why not being a weapon? In case of dire needs it can be used in act of desperation as an improvised short range weapon.

Because they don't make good weapons, as I showed in my prior post. Why even try to put in 100 nails into its thick skin when players always have their fists readily available?

Nail gun does not make a good weapon, but its better than nothing... Specially if you have a design that fires a nail at 427 meters per second.

Well, the kitchen knife doesn't make for a good gun either and it's in the game. The main thing that speaks against the nail gun is the ammo imo. Too specific and would just result in even more clutter/confusion.
