Weapon Suggestion Thread

1513 posts in this topic

To add a .45 ACP Carbine to supplement the full-auto only MAC-10, the 1911 pistol, and the upcoming HK45 Compact pistol, I suggest the Hi-Point Carbine.

Hi-Point_.45_Carbine_Carbine_315340.gif

It's an ugly gun. But it's cheap, available, and fairly popular. And despite Hi-Point's reputation of making ghetto blasters, the carbine is a pretty good value and is quite dependable. Holds 9 rounds plus one in the chamber. I would have suggested the CX4, but it's already in the pipeline as a 9mm, or the Marlin Camp Carbine, but it takes 1911 magazines so it would simply be a 1911 with extra weight gameplay wise, plus they're kind of hard to find nowadays.

yeah but who of all people actually becomes a modder? its not just luck. u can say its natural selection, but most people aren't lucky to think that far. take me for an example: I always had a bad relationship with my family and now its worse than ever. on top of that, they want to be nice. they play the be nice and then go sour game. ... SO... SHOULD I think of mapping as the last thing I ever do before they poison me into a REALLY clinical illness? No, people unlucky like me prefer going out in a big bang.

I did mods for L4D2 back in the day. Also some CSS models as well. I still make mods here and there.

As great as the workshop sounds, I'd be REALLY hesitant for it. I hope more maps than weapons will be added to it, ESPECIALLY after what happened to Contagion. Such hype for 3 weeks then *PLOP* dead in the water. I went to the workshop for that game to get the beta player skins back, since the current release's player skins absolutely fucking suck. You know what I find on that workshop? MLP and random miscellaneous anime skins for weapons and the phone background. While those don't bother me, what does bother me is that those are the majority of what little mods there are for that game. I feel like we have a better and more mature community than that, and while I'm not condemning either of those choice of mods, I feel like there's a lot of character and quality to NMRiH. The workshop should be a great addition, it's the modders that will make it or break it though.

Yes. I am behind you on this one. Openly available on the civilian market, everybody has at least heard of Hi-Point. Unique, haven't seen any games really include it. And it's in that weird zone between ugly and cool.

I think the majority of mods would be client side so it's not like it's ruining the character of the game unless people choose to install mods that would do so. I get what you're saying though the Steam workshop tends to open the floodgates to mediocre content. Probably lots of skins made in MS Paint :/

In a way, im glad. I could think up ways that could have kept the hype going, like comprehensive updates that would make it look new again and again. IN the end, its what the game gives in a period of few hours that will give it good reviews or not. its all about reviews, I think. u tell people its good, and they want to play it. NOW, it costs money, and ppl look at $20 bills like a $1 if they have money. So if it costs $20, u got a lot of people wary about their money going "FFFF! shit aint hgappanienhg!"

The developers are arseholes to me. in complications, they can do that to one person. I mean they have on their Zombie Panic: Source front page about someone dying. I SWEAR that's ANOTHER story I typed about like James Holmes. my goals of talking trash is to instigate the "instigators" whom I still don't know about. they're probably wanabe Italian/Muslim MAFIA/cops who take shiet too seriously, yet cant say a damn thing to my face, lol "cuz they'd probably want to hurt me." WoW. tough. tOO BAD for that. I like Zombie Panic. At least Contagion, a mod I could try in a few months or next year, is about Left 4 Dead.

Do your best to ignore it, that's what we are all doing.

No one knows the answer, we would try our best and still not understand.

bayonete in rifle is very slow, even my grandma could use a bayonete faster.

I doubt if you even know how bayoneting is done.

357 is slow because of the hammer cocking (which I might change), SKS shove is fine and you can't do it faster with enough strength to be a powerful bayonet, you can however do it faster without powering any strength, no point of that considering it's weak. Also, this is a slow-paced game, not super fast arcade shootman game. The shove already is at perfect or faster than intended speed for our type of game. (it just has a cooldown for balance.)

Various melee weapons, I like it. But they function in a nearly-identical way: you grab them to smash zombies and the zombies get hurt (Difference in arc, range, damage, stamina usage, weight, stun chance, flexibility are not enough to enlarge their variety).

I would like to see those melee weapons with various functions, by that I mean the ways you use them in COMBAT.

Here are some possible secondary-attack for melee weapons:

-Fire extinguisher: Spray toward zombie hordes to freeze them or slow them down. Limited dry powder, no refill (so no need to implement ammunition for it).

-Welder: SET FIRE ON ZOMBIES!

-Kitchen knife: Throw it like a boss. The knife spins when thrown out. If its handle hits the zombie, it does moderate damage(physics damage); if its blade hits the zombie, it deals greater damage and adheres to the zombie (like arrows).

-Fire axe: If it hits a zombie's legs, it cuts out the zombie's leg and turn it into a crowler.

All melees are actually throwable, hold your drop button for a while then let go. I like the idea of slowing down zombies with the Extinguisher. Not much for setting zombies on fire with a Welder, and Dismemberment (with it turning into crawlers and such.) will surely be a thing.

I was also thinking of doing a Stab for the knife, with a little cooldown to it as well. I haven't really finished the animation work so I'm not there with it.

Some melees already have a secondary function, such as the E-tool where you can turn the spade 90 degrees and use the pick.

I'm going to just go ahead and pile together all of the guns I can think of off the top of my head right here. Colt Python (.357 Magnum), S&W M&P R8 (.357 Magnum), SPAS-12 (12 Gauge), Benelli M4 Super 90 (12 Gauge), IWI Galil ACE 23 (5.56 or 7.62), Kel-Tec KSG (12 Gauge), Saiga 12 (12 Gauge), M40A3 (7.62 or .308), Ithaca 37 (12 Gauge), Mossberg 590A1 (12 Gauge), Browning Hi-Power (9mm), SIG Sauer P226 (9mm), Walther P99 (9mm). I tried to only post the ones that could be relatively easy to find and aren't insanely expensive, and most of these I have actually seen at my local Mark's Outdoors store.

But there's already so many guns in the game that either look and/or function exactly the same as a lot of those. Game doesn't need 3 different revolvers, and two 9mm handguns is already fine. Same with wooden and synthetic pump shotguns.

Can't believe they banned the SPAS. >.<

But I'm also curious if this is true or not lol.

I would LOVE the Galil ACE 23 on the 5.56x45 NATO. (7.62x39 is just as fine).

No, that's why I said MOST of these. Though going back, it's really more "some" of these. Saw an the M4 Super 90 there, saw a KSG there, saw a Saiga 12, saw an M40 though I'm not exactly certain on the model because I didn't really look at it much, the Ithaca 37 is one I saw there, as are the P226, P99, Hi-Power, and Mossberg 590. The Colt Python is up there mainly because it's a classic, and part of it is that it's Rick's main gun on "The Walking Dead" (can you blame me?), the R8 is there because it's absolutely amazing. As for the SPAS-12, well, here you go, one with a solid stock http://www.armslist.com/posts/4422497/portland-oregon-shotguns-for-sale-trade--spas-12 and one with a folding stock http://www.armslist.com/posts/4218321/puerto-rico-usa-shotguns-for-sale--franchi-spas-12-original-12-gauge-shotgun The Galil ACE is one that is supposed to be coming to the civilian market soon from what I have heard, so I just tossed it up there as well.

Stop raining on my parade man, this is the list of guns I would like to see in the game, not the list of guns that HAVE to be or are going to be put in.

Nailgun (This is a tool, not a weapon.)

I'm not suggesting shooting nails at zombies, I'm suggesting a tool that would assist players in boarding up faster. This could be useful for map specific objectives, and keeping up defenses in survival.

BF33-2_Flat-web_600x450.jpg

Pros and Cons vs. Barricade Hammer

Pros:

~ 33% faster boarding up speed

Can suicide with

Stronger Shove

Cons:

Heavier

Less Melee damage

Instead of another 30 round 5.56 bullet hose, how about the Mossberg MVP? The 5.56 version takes standard AR-15 magazines and has several stock and sight options (including iron sights) to pick from, so you can make a pretty solid lineup of variations.

I think it'd be cool if we could use the fuel can for more than just an ammo item for the chainsaw(s).

Such as, being able to equip it and pour gasoline/fuel onto the ground however long you want until it runs out, and then if you have "matches" in your inventory you'll be able to throw one in your puddle or line of gasoline, setting it on fire. It'd be useful for, let's say, on Chinatown, someone's using the torch on the padlock on the gate and the horde is moving towards you. Someone could pour a line of gasoline some feet away from the zombies, and light it on fire. If zombies walk into it, which they will, they'll catch on fire and die easily, but it's also punishable since some could turn into flaming runners.

Also more functions with weapons that include different resistance types and damage types, such as with a knife you can slash or stab/pierce.

I have tried the gasoline line using hammer entities, not a good idea. It makes the game too laggy to play.

Melee weapons

Since l read about the Chinese map for 1.10. I was thinking on some traditional chinese melee weapons, farmer weapon or some ninja like weapoin, which ofc would be more common in japanese maps.

Like for example, if the map would play on a smaller village, having rice fields around it or weath, you could find those small scythes. Sicne l dont think, that civil people can buy guns in the stores like in the US or other countries that have gun stores.

Like on the picture below

300px-Kamas.jpg

I'm not sure about this, but I think that there might be some families who own an old sword at home, maybe as a family heritage, which the player could pick up in some maps. There are a lot of traditional close range weapons by both China and Japan, and of course any other country in the World.

Some other weapons that could appear in those maps.

sdk.png

I know that these would be map specific weapons, but as l know, not all weapons can be found on one map, like the chain saw or the circle saw, or what its names, saw it only once.

Long range weapons

Since we got a Bow -no clue if others already suggested this- we could have crossbows or crowbow pistols in the game.

The Crossbow would take almost as much space as one of the snipers, and would use the same ammo as the Bow. Of course the arrows could be picked up again from the zombies.

Crossbow

big%20rhino%20-%20cocked%20expanded.jpg

Crossbow Pistol.

viper-pistol-crossbow-free-target-1013-p

The Crossbow Pistol would use smaller bows ofc which could be found in the gun stores or in some houses storage. Or in the secret storage at Toxet. Guess some hunters prefer these silent weapons instead fo the projectile ones.

Well, these would be my suggestions. Sadly, l didn't went through all 70+ pages to see all the weapons, so l dont know is the crossbow was already suggested or not.
