Weapon Suggestion Thread

I'm so jealous right now! :D

And I also agree with you on the rarity aspect, sounds like a fair compromise.

Now about that vulcan cannon..... ;)

EDIT: Has the topic of stationary weapons already come up yet? Of course mostly (or even only) on survival maps and with limited ammo (which one would also have to find first) and/or even restricted access, like you would need a welder to open the room or whatever to actually be able to get to the gun itself.

From my understanding of it, Operation Halloween is the only map where the actual stationary weapon works. I watched a tutorial on how (insert the map author here) made that, but the tutorial was for CS:S instead. Works the same in NMRiH though. In Operation Halloween, the turret uses a moveable prop_dynamic and you're able to fire a trigger_hurt that is in a straight line. When I made mine, the trigger hurt wasn't killing the zombies at all. I even went into Operation Halloween and tried to figure out what the hell I was doing wrong. No dice.

For nms_zps_farmhouse_v4, I used a UI trigger so when you fire the turret, instead of there being a trigger_hurt firing out of the weapon, it triggers a point_hurt that's just conveniently large enough to simulate the spread of a machinegun. So technically, my stationary weapon works, it just does aoe instead of you having to aim and make sure the bullets hit.

As for having to unlock a door to get the turret, what could happen is the turret be like the key in the cinema in Broadway, or like the ammo cans you have to get on Operation Halloween and Farmhouse. It's a prop_dynamic that you place into a trigger. There's two prop_dynamics, the first prop_dynamic is the item you actually pick up. Once it's placed into the spot where you put the trigger, it kills itself. The second prop_dynamic is the same model of the first prop_dynamic, but it's in a fixed position now, kind of how when you put the key in the door in Broadway, you stop holding the prop but it's in the door. The second prop_dynamic will be the model that you are able to move around. You parent all this together and just assign triggers.

Here's the tutorial: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CIWqRkLQ3g

Tell me what you think.

Tell me what you think.

I think you know a lot more about map editing than I do. ^^"

I also didn't even know about the Helloween map, because I have rarely played user made maps yet, mainly because I decided to take a break from playing until the update(s) are out, but I will check that turret out as soon as I play again!

Thanks for all the info and I hope my lack of knowledge in that field doesn't ruin your mood! :)

Aww yeah P90. As much as I like the gun I don't think it's worth adding.

As for legal full autos, there are quite a few Uzis and a surprisingly large number of HKs (91/33/5 and in between), most of them being converted from semi-autos from back when you could do that legally. There's the MACs and illegal Tec-9s too but I don't think I'm baller enough for one of those.

a lawnmower with katanas for blades that plays "let the bodies hit the floor", the wheels are chainsaws and mounted on top of it is a butterfly p90.

I noticed a lot of you guys are making cool suggestions, I just wanted to note on something:

No WWII-era firearms of some sort, sadly these nowadays are either rare, expensive or both, only firearms that can be seen that I could think of are the 1911 and the Nagant, one is already in the game, one can't be added because it's a new caliber. (though wondering if anyone seen Nagants on .308?)

Also, no firearms on new calibers, we aren't yet thinking of adding something on a new caliber so try to find firearms that support the current NMRiH available calibers.

I also wanted to note that regarding Flamethrowers, we've said previously we wouldn't be adding them anytime soon because they are just at the same level of WWII-era firearms, rare and expensive (though not illegal) and they also require professional use for safety.

Though, I think that has just changed, because ThoughT sent this link: http://xm42.com/ take a look at this thing! the world's first flamethrower on the civilian market.

And if anyone is asking about Crossbows, I personally don't like these but we are adding one actually, who knows when will it be done.

One last thing, seeing that we don't have a thread for Weapon Variants suggestions yet, we might as well use this thread for variants until we make a separate thread regarding those (that is if we are making one).

I think I suggested this before, but the FN Five-seveN? Here, have a video.

New caliber, gotta stay away from that, otherwise it's a great firearm, I would pick the modern version of the 5-7 if I could.

As far as full auto weapons go, what about bumpfire stock variations? A 10/22 with a bumpfire stock simulating full auto fire, is actually pretty believable.

Firing full auto from only the waist (not Aiming Down Sights) could be an Interesting? mechanic

yeah sadly as much as I love flamethrowers I don't see how they could get worked in :/ I've always wanted to see a postal 2 style gas can though lol.

The only WW2 gun that I could think of working well would be the TT33, but I doubt we're adding a new caliber :/

Maybe the suggestions would be easier to overlook and evaluate, if there was an extra thread for "Melee Suggestions" & "Firearms Suggestions" (and in case the latter gets too crowded as well, you could create one for pistols, rifles or automatic, semi-automatic or something along the line). Just a thought ^^

Yep, Jeffrey Dahmer. I wish they could organize these things up, but I guess not. It would take too long... Yeah right! That's only 70 pages, not like 170. A few moderators have time to fix this up. What if I could help. I only have 2,832 points with 1 warning, as if I got a "sick mosquito" always there. Thanks. Maybe that means I'll have a semi-decent life!

Let me guess: they take a man like you, clean you up, and actually give you money so you can live a long life to look at the world who is NOT YOU?

WHAT about the RCP90 from Golden Eye? That one was interesting! It still sounds like a remote control car but logically the name of a gun. Imagine seeing a 3D version of that gun with higher quality audio file.

That is the P90 basically, which we just refused a second ago because it is under a caliber non-existent in NMRiH currently.

NMRIH has too much calibers, should be decreased (many of them are redundant, because they are exactly same). 22 LR, 9mm .357 Magnum, .223 Rem and .308 win, 12 gauge will be enough.

I saw Mosin Nagant converted to .45-70....

I would like to see:

Ruger PC9

CZ 452

Glock 43

Ruger LCP or something like that

Small revover like LCR.

Springfield M1A1 (civil version of M14)

Ruger Mini14

some one shot break action rifle...

Ehm, not a Ruger brand commercial...

They are the same "thing", just under different names.

It's the same with how the SMG1 in Half-Life 2 is basically the MP7 with a red dot sight.

well I liked the RCP90 alternate version better. They were still different in models, name, and sound.

Well if it is different, then it still won't be accepted, it's not a real thing.

different models are real, zombies aren't, plus ive mentioned plenty about how IMPOSSIBLE it is for zombies to thrive being mostly shufflers. I could be one of those zombies; that's offensive! zombies need to be a little more tougher and more intellectually tribal in order to take over even the police. Hell, they are FASTER in the cinematic videos for Resident Evil 2! SO I vote FOR RCP90 due to the community's lack of answering DIRECT questions! It both looks and sounds better in my head than the popular model of the real P90 anyways! Reality sucks!

and how does the caliber not being present in Steam really matter? it really has to do with hit points and whether or not it goes through the body. no one notices the "caliber."

It's still the same basic weapon. It's like saying we should add a PP-19 After we just said we wouldn't add any variant of an AK (Although in this example both these weapons actually exist). I personally love the PP-19 but I know it wouldn't fit into the lore or feel of the game. It's the same with any variant of the P90.

There are loads of people already confused as to which boxes of ammo go with what weapon. Having an oddball box that only works with two exceedingly rare guns, wouldn't make much sense.

The 5.7x28 cartridge IS very neat. The guns that fire it are neat as well. But realistically it is only available to a few very wealthy people, and adding it would detract from the 'average joe' vibe that we have going with our protagonists.

since NMRiH is "realistic," you can have one map where you play as people, even assuming police officers who have a small arsenal, who get to use more guns than the people in other maps. this way, NMRiH's authentic style isn't tainted with today's perversion of reality with spoils of communication and infinite stamina. so one map has more guns than another map. Hell, you can have a map featuring flintlocks and muskets from the 17 or 18th century. if there's anything worth bearing from olden times is the die-hard will to persevere without being needy or as dumb as clouds when it comes to ideas. now, I hate typing. I gave away so many ideas, ifeel like I will be depressed or pseudo-depressed no matter WHAT people throw at me. In the end, it will be EVRYTHING I was warning those dumb motherfuckers about, but they ALL had to INTERVENE ANYWAYS as Men in Black, or their likes.

Ehem, and another map featuring Maxx's arsenal. lol I DO NOT know our mappers here.

Is there any possibility you will implement workshop support for NmriH sometime in the future, so people would be able to skin the weapons like they already do in Contagion?

There is! we are going to figure out how to implement workshop for NMRiH.

yes, but no. it doesn't look the same. plus, the absence of the mp5 in Golden Eye just shows their own kind of tastes. Golden Eye is too popular for that kind of shiet. plus, the RCP90 fires 60 or 80 rounds. that's different and different.

Awesome! :D

If something is able to prolong the life of a game, it's mods! Just think what would've become of Half-Life without all the modding possibilities ^^

yeah but who of all people actually becomes a modder? its not just luck. u can say its natural selection, but most people aren't lucky to think that far. take me for an example: I always had a bad relationship with my family and now its worse than ever. on top of that, they want to be nice. they play the be nice and then go sour game. ... SO... SHOULD I think of mapping as the last thing I ever do before they poison me into a REALLY clinical illness? No, people unlucky like me prefer going out in a big bang.
