Weapon Suggestion Thread

1513 posts in this topic

I hope I'm not grouped in with the not so great group... I do make some pretty out there suggestions. I know I suggested a Smith and Wesson Model 500 at one point, which to be perfectly fair is rather insane since pretty much nobody owns one of those. Though I am still hoping the Smith and Wesson M&P R8 gets added, because an 8 shot .357 magnum is freaking awesome.

Edit: this one turned out as a copy of the post above by accident, it just kind of double posted. Sorry!

Wait, we have a not so great group? Why wasn't I aware of the not so great group? And why wasn't I invited!?

I mean, I would probably decline, but it'd been nice to be asked!

We don't talk about them much. You can find one of their members in this thread actually, he suggested weapons from MW2 and nothing else. I'm pretty sure there was a gold desert eagle on his list. Not just a regular one, gold.

I might suggest a shotgun with a pistol grip, like an Ithaca M37. Or a .22 revolver. How about a handheld/throwable flare?

My post from the community hub oh well not totally:

Some of these suggestions might be crap dunno just mentioned some i would like to see in game.
- An animal Trap (mainly for pvp or to trap runners) Trap could be broken by a player if he shoots on it and by a zombie but he will die and the trap will be useable again
- STG-44
- 1903 Springfield USA
- Steyr Aug from Austria
- SIG PE 90 : Austria
- Mauser M12
- Heckler & Koch G36
- Knucklebuster
- Butterfly sword
- Striker
- Model 1887
- Sickle (farming hoe ?)
- TNT you can blow up from a distance (will take some time to set it up)

- Scorpion

- ACT .44 Magnum

- Thompson Submachine (.45 ACP)

- SIEG automatic rifle

- Certain additions to guns such as laser sight, scopes, extended magazines

Yes, P90 please. I second that.

And to say I just want it so much, because I love Stargate would be a blatant LIE! Not true! Completely utterly not at all true! But still, consider it, please? :D

Animal trap sounds kinda cool, no idea what it would take to animate and code something like that though.

As much as I like the P90 not sure how 5.7x28 would realistically fit into the existing ammo types.

I'd argue against a P90. The ammo type isn't in the game, and the only other weapon I know of that uses the same ammo is the FiveSeven. I don't think many people own either of those weapons. Lets stick to things that are a little more common. Not this call of duty or constant WW2 weaponry shit I keep seeing. I know those suggestions are for the most part, ignored, but that shit is annoying.

A sawed off shotgun isn't too original, but it's not that uncommon. Maybe some more weapons for the smaller caliber. I mentioned a .22 revolver earlier, how about an automatic handgun for .357? I know that Sig Sauer, Coonan, Glock, and some S&W make .357 semi auto handguns, although it's .357 mag in game and not .357 sig.

How about maybe a semi automatic rifle for .308? I know we have the FAL but something more civilian?

People need to remember, we're not SOF or commandos or whatever other bullshit or on some secret mission when we're playing this game. I'm pretty sure Operation Halloween is the only map where you're really on an actual mission. I don't know of anyone who actually roleplays in this game, but the back stories most maps provide (Brooklyn, Midwest, etc) should have enough context to let the player know: Hey, I'm not playing as a fucking call of duty commando.

We will soon be adding a Katana.

I'll be happy as long as the Katanas have been, or are capable of, fucking Muthas.

Also, you should be able to commit Sudoku.

And yes, I mean Sudoku the logic puzzle, I know how you have a thing against melee suicides.

P90 can be just as common as every military weapon in the game. There is no actual lore to exclude the possibility of armed forces of whatever kind that left the weapons and/or ammo lyring around after they died or in some kind of stash. It would just be nice to have it as an option. :)

If some people don't agree with certain weapons, maybe there could be an option for server hosts to exclude the spawning of said weapons....

As an active duty United States military member that loves both firearms and the accuracy of knowledge of the United States military I will fight this as best as I can.

The United States, regardless of how many different weapon types there are, has most of it's military weapons standardized, mostly for cost reasons. Sure, you might find a few out and about in the world, but we do NOT use that. The SOF guys do NOT use that. Maybe some of the NATO teams and people that have their own personal version, but I guarantee you, P90 is not something you would find on a United States service member's maimed and eaten dead body - or their varying caches spread across the continental United States.

I can guarantee you will find the following: M16s, M4s (NOT M4A1s), Beretta M9s, M249s, M240Bs. People need to know and understand the capabilities of the armed forces that their country has. We don't have P90's because they're too expensive for our budget. Get this, a single regular M4 costs the Army around $600. A single regular FN P90 costs anywhere from $1400 to $2200 (depending on whether the dealer is shafting you on the price). The US military gets package deals on most of it's weapon systems, but the cost of the P90 still exceeds it. While this money factor has no standing with if the P90 would be in the game or not, it's not accurate to say that you'd find the weapon in the US military's stockade of cool gizmos and doodads. We're lucky enough that the developers are adding in additional attachments to weapons without the over-the-top insanity that is most games with firearms in today's world.

I don't mean to be a debby downer or a nazi about this, but this game is one of few that has retained it's level of seriousness but hasn't been tainted by poor developer choices and incorporates real life elements into the game. Let's try to keep it that way.

Maybe there were foreign support troops leaving them behind? Maybe it is from a private stash of criminally insame preppers? The P90 has as many reasons to be included/excluded as all the other weapons. There are weapons lying around all over the maps, as if people just left them there for our convenience. If you could only get guns from dead soldiers/cops I would consider agreeing with you on this one, but there are rifles, shotguns, pistols, all just placed on shelves, tables or just anywhere. If you really wanted the grade of Realism you're implying, this game wouldn't be much fun to most people, because they would just die instantly. One horde would be enough to kill every player, because you can't just "Push back" the weight of so many bodies with the push of a button. They would just rush you, you'd fall and be eaten. There is no real recoil in this game (especially considering the fact you're playing "normal" persons, probably without any training in the field) and you can trick the melee stamina restriction by just using the right mouse button to finish off hundreds of zombies with a single pipe in a single playthrough (already did, much much fun ^^).

I know there has to be some kind of inner logic and I agree with its necessity, but as far as the realism in this game goes atm, I don't see why especially the P90 would have no place in this game. I'm not asking for a vulcan cannon, laser guns or a rocket launcher, because I know THAT would be too much ^^

Now this, I agree with. I'm just hoping that additional weapons added will fit in well with the scenarios we see in the game.

One thing I really like with the progress of weapons we have. All of the rifles are semi-automatic (save the WINchester). That fits well, considering the majority of full-auto weapons aren't available to the public. If we're going to add another full-auto weapon, I'd vote to have it be something common. My tiff with the P90 is that I've used it, it's an awesome weapon system, and I've the met some of the people who actively use and train with it. It's not nearly as common as people think it is, and if the P90 (or a similar kind of weapon) makes it into the game, I'd just expect to be as rare as a gene therapy. The P90 is a big deal. It's not standardized. I'd honestly expect to see an M240B more so than a P90. If that makes any sense.

I'm so jealous right now! :D

And I also agree with you on the rarity aspect, sounds like a fair compromise.

Now about that vulcan cannon..... ;)

EDIT: Has the topic of stationary weapons already come up yet? Of course mostly (or even only) on survival maps and with limited ammo (which one would also have to find first) and/or even restricted access, like you would need a welder to open the room or whatever to actually be able to get to the gun itself.
