With the suicide option there's one gun that would fit into the game. Remember the Romero's classic "Dawn of the dead" movie?

That's right... Derringer...

Don't care about the model or caliber variation as long as it would take less space in inventory then most handguns.

Derringers would be nice to feature in the game, more so for their simple use and the fact that they were available in pretty much all of the handgun calibers that are currently in NMRIH. My vote goes towards a .45 ACP Derringer, as we only have one other pistol chambered in the .45 ACP

Would be cool a shield, those used by the police.

FirstLook-62.jpg

Another interesting weapon would be a fishing gun, that shoots those harpoons thingies, it would work just as the bow, shoot the harpoon, go pick it back, shoot it again.

I think a police baton, or collapsing baton would be a great fit to the game as we do see police/squad cars lying around some maps!

I've always liked the idea of a police shield, but I don't know where anyone else stands on it.

I guess equipping the police shield would make it so they can't inflict any damage from the front (maybe they can still grab it, to hold you, but can't bite and you have to shove them off) at the price of tunnel vision from looking through the window, and not being able to use any weapons. More of a defensive thing for people on the go. Maybe it'd take up as much space as a chainsaw.

Problem is, I don't know which player animation would be best for holding it. DoD:S animations are sorta limited to rifles and the like.

I'm a big SIG Sauer fan, so I thought I might suggest a few of them for this game. They would fit in pretty nicely since quite a few civilians like the SIG's and some law enforcement even prefer them. The Secret Service currently uses the SIG P229 in .357 SIG (white house map anyone? XD). But, anyway, here are a few of my personal favorites. The P220 (.45 ACP), P226 (9MM, .40 S&W, .357 SIG), M11-A1 (9MM), P229 (9MM, .40 S&W, .357 SIG), SIG MPX (9MM, .40 S&W, .357 SIG), SIG 516 (5.56x45 NATO), SIG 716 (7.62x51 NATO), SIG M400 (5.56x45 NATO).

I used a P226 before (or I think it was a P228, whatever both the same and it was on 9mm), pretty cool gun if you ask me.

I'm all for SIGs but I think I'd stick more to the pistols in general. My reasons of liking them would primarily be this:

  • SIG P220 in .45 ACP, it would kind of like an upgraded M1911, in the element it would feature an 8 round magazine by default
  • SIG P225 (which wasn't what you suggested) it's a compact 9x19mm version of the P220, 9 rounds of 9x19mm of which i think this game needs more compact 9mm pistols
  • SIG P226 in 9x19mm, something to feature as a direct analogue to the Beretta M9 currently in-game, while it could feasibly be considered identical in stats to the M9, a little varity goes a long way
  • SIG P228 in 9x19mm, compact model of the P226, 13 round magazine, 9x19mm. We need more lower capacity semi-auto handguns in general and this fits the bill nicely.

I think if I had to go with a SIG in .45 ACP, I would go with the P227 for this game (I know I suggested a P220, but the 227 holds 10 rounds instead of just 8, so the extra ammo would be nice). I love the P228, and I know a lot of what I have suggested use 9MM, but just for the sake of diversity let's replace it with the P229 in .40 S&W or .357 SIG. Or the M11-A1, which is basically just a newer version of a P228 (some say it's more P229 than anything, but I like it and think it's pretty damn close to the original 228). It's a compact that holds 15 rounds instead of just 13 (obviously won't fit the bill of being a lower capacity handgun, but why would you want that when you can have more bullets! lol).

Well, I thought Hoff was still here for a second, but that was from the the first pages. I wish we could categorize all previous suggested weapons so everyone can enjoy seeing what's already been done, instead of letting this get like the StarCraft 2 forums: 3,000 results for people with audio issues. WELL, I guess only 100 of them address the right ones for every new issue! However, there are no lists or categories for all solved problems.

What about some more revolvers? We only have 2 or 3 I think, and you really can't have too many revolvers. I already suggested the R8, 8 shot .357 magnum revolver. Maybe the Charter Arms Bulldog, .38 special, .357 magnum, or .44 special. Colt detective special, uses the .38 round. The MTs-255 (this one is actually a shotgun, but is a revolver style so I'm going to include it), uses 12, 20, 28, 32, and .410 gauge. Also, I think I may have suggested this before but I can't really remember, but how about the Smith and Wesson Model 500. Because when it comes to zombies, there is no such thing as overkill, and a 50 caliber revolver will put down anything!

I see a lot of people throwing suggestions here as expected, but would it not be more efficient if there was a polling site member of this forum could directly vote in? Excuse me if this idea has already been discussed. I am a complete newbie to this website, but i have been quite aware of the game for some time.

A kind of weapon suggestion database, where people could post their suggestions, and vote, the most liked ones would easily be found by the devs and it would also be easier to know what have already been suggested or not, instead of reading 70 pages of topic.

Sounds like a great idea, but that would be a really big poll with tons of weapons on it.

We don't really base our weapon suggestions on votes, so if people vote something ridiculous and/or not fitting for NMRiH's taste too much, doesn't mean it's happening anytime soon, therefore it's kind of useless really.

By the way, I'm not saying don't suggest or anything, just that the "vote" thing kind of won't work well.

Are you guys making the game to play it yourself or for the actual players? So if "people" (the players) vote for something they like, shouldn't it be added to the game? With that system you could know what players like/dont like/dont care about, so that you can make nmrih how the players really like it most, not how you like it...

We actually design the game by our vision, now there are these devs that listen to the community a lot and do what they please at all times (DICE for example with BF4), but there are also devs that go by their own vision and design choice (occasionally listening to the community still), if anything, we would listen to that small good part of our community (you have to admit a large portion of our community isn't so great, which is expected from a free game), but we won't just mindlessly add anything any group of people say without thinking and so, it really boils down to that.

Maxx stated this: "We made this game for free for fun to see if other people wanted the same kind of zombie experience we do."

So it's really what we wanted with a zombie game, and wanted people to try and see if they like where we are going with our game and join in the fun, but it's not necessary for us to just do what anyone tells us to do with the game, and it's by no means being against our community, we just go with what we see great with our game! (see the children zombies topic on steam forums for an example).

Take for example people wanting crosshair or something arcade-y, and a WHOLE bunch of people wanted it, if we implemented such thing, obviously the direction the game is taking will change, and in some sense we make the community our "designers" by implementing anything they will state and agree on the most, I know I've seen the katana suggested a million times, and we all know katanas are not coming to NMRiH's because they contradict with our traditional selection of weapons (common and realistic choices of weaponry, something you can find in a typical real apocalypse scenario, if when you are in a location that is populated and civilized).

Suggestions and crits are always welcome of course, and we always have them in mind, we've seen great suggestions from the community (which some were implemented!), and we've seen the "other" kind of suggestions which well... respectfully not going too well with NMRiH's direction, hopefully you get what I mean with all that wall of text.

Just because the fanbase would want lightsaber-dildos in the game, and vote on it, doesn't mean the devs are obligated to throw that in.

I think the devs definitely need to be the tastemakers for quality assurance when it comes to the contents. My first impression of this thread was that it was rather unwieldy. I just feel like there should be another method of delivering inputs and suggestions in an efficient manner in this particular topic of weapons suggestions. While everything in the end is up to the discretion of the devs and whomever it may concern, when it comes to the communication, it could be more streamlined.

So no AR15? The most notorious rifle on the U.S. market today?

Sure we have an M16, but doesn't it's shorter cousin get any love?

They really should add some variation to the weaponry mix even if it maybe just cosmetic.

I wanted to ask the moderators to make pinned threads regarding this, for both the official and steam forums, so you guys share me ideas for variations.

I also would like to see an AR-15 of some sort instead of just the military M16A4.
