Weapon Suggestion Thread

1513 posts in this topic

Honestly I didn't take the time to read through the all the weapon-suggestions (over 60 pages, damnit!) but I tried to get an overall impression what kind of guns get suggested mostly. Therefore I'd like to add something, but first I have to straighten out a few things:

I'm neither from the US nor from Canada, but from central europe (which should explain potential spelling/grammatical errors^^) and therefore my weapon suggestions are based on the situation around here; please don't bash for stupid suggestions...^^

So... here we go:

As gun-laws are pretty strict in most of europe firearms are mostly owned by hunters and sport-marksmen (and I'm talking about the legal stuff; little do I want to mention all the guns that fell into civilian hands during the fall of the Iron Curtain and all the still working shit that remained after WWII; actually opening-a-crate-on-grandpa's-attic-and-suddenly-stumpling-upon-a-loaded-pistol-two-grenades-and-a-belt-fed-machine-gun-situations are surprisingly common) many of the guns people own here are custom-made or custom-enhanced hunting-rifles and small-chambered targettingpistols/-rifles (and a lot of bows and crossbows. Hell, I just realize this stuff is pretty popular...). And by custom-made i mean hunting-rifles like the famous "Drilling" (german for triplet; basically i gun with three barrels, most of the time one chambered for buckshot, one chambered for a small kalliber for small game and one chambered for a bigger kalliber for bigger game. This would be too tough to use as if it was worth to implement it into the game though, i guess...) or tons and tons of scoped single-shot rifles, double-barreled shotguns and single-shot pistols (special licences needed for semi-auto rifles; bolt action is pretty common too, though).

So... long text, short conclusion: I'd like to suggest implementing a custom-made and/or commercially manufactured single-shot, scoped hunting-rifle (would be slower to reload than the current ones but still effective, i think) and another bolt-action hunting-rifle (goddamnit, I seem to be a fucking hunting-rifle fetishist...).

As for the semi-automatic rifles I'd like to remind you that there is a semi-automatic version of the Steyr AUG (Austrian rifle, chambered in the standard NATO-kalliber as far as i remenber; the semi-automatic version is even legal in Austria itself (with a special permission) and we are not even allowed to own pump-action shotguns^^) that was/is also sold in the US (only 5 to 10 round magazines available, i think).

As for weapon-attachements: A knife, some tape and... TADAAA! A bajonett! (that would break after a few blows, though...)

Or: Two magazines taped together for quicker change on that AK47-like looking rifle or on the M4A1.

And last but not least: A detached arm/leg! Punch those undead fuckers back to the fucking place they fucking came from with their own fucking limbs. Because HAIL TO THE KING, baby, that's why!

Also how about a lever-action, scoped hunting rifle (there must be one in existance, damnit! Rifles, rifles are awesome!)?

Greetings from ze europe andd keep up ze good work!

We have a CZ858, that's an AK-47 looking rifle (right)?

It's as close as we can get, otherwise Maxx would have an aneurysm.

So I skimmed this thread and have come up with two suggestions for weapons that I think could fit into the game.

Firstly. The luger P08. People in America love to collect these things it's not impossible to think that you might find one in a private home or gun store. It's a great unique weapon that would have an interresting fire animation.

Secondly the one that's been suggested several times over. But with a little spice added. The Obrez. Mosin Nagant's are one of the cheapest and readily available rifles out there. But who wants to carry around all that extra weight when there's zombies after you? Solution: chop off the barrel and stock and you have yourself one deadly pistol.

Hold on a second, I need a glass of milk.

*Gets Milk*

*Drinks Milk*

*Spews Milk*

That's one wicked weapon there. Might be a bit unorthodox for this game, but I'd be lying if I said that isn't badass.

This beast is fucking awesome. It fits perfect with the zombie appocalypse theme where traveling lite is necessary.

The kick on this thing would be phenomenal. A wrist breaker for sure.

I hope this or something like it makes it into NMRiH -- Something unconventional but sensible.

I think that sawed off 410 you made is a perfect fit too.

Not sure if already posted but what about a pocket knife?

you could use it to sharpen wooden boards perhaps,

to make a spear like barricades out of them and stick them in the ground

i could stop a few zombies and deal very little demage to those who touch the sharp point.

and ofcourse can function as a weapon, bit more demage than fists but a longer swing or stab

wich makes it slower to use, more like the kitchen knife ( compared to fists )

Bear traps... the kind that have steel jaws and snap shut when the pressure plate is disturbed... since proximity explosives are a bit non-civilian availability?

Am I the only one that wants an M1 Garand? That *pa-ching* makes me unnaturally happy.

So here's my list. Ignore it, love it, hate it, whatever.
Pistols: CZ75, Sig Sauer Mosquito
Submachine Guns: Thompson 45, UMP (NPC carried?)
Rifles (Semi and Full Auto): M1 Garand, M14, HK416, M21 DMR (Marine NPC weapon?)
Rifles (Bolt Action): Mosin Nagant w/bayonet

I personally think it would be really enjoyable to fight off a horde using a Mosin or a Garand. But that's just my idea and that is what this board is for, ideas.

Yeah Garands would definitely be cool,as well as Mosins, ofcourse, both of them use calibers that are non-existent yet in the game. :(

Two weapon suggestions.

The HK69. The game could possibly use a grenade launcher and it is more unique then say the m79.

HK69A1.jpg

The Calico Liberty 50. A semi auto 9mm pistol with a magazine holding up to 50rds. I just finished modeling one and thought I could suggest it :P

I support this. An HK69 and a Calico would make great additions to the weapon roster. The HK69's inclusion could make sense as something the national guard would use or something one could find in their supply holds, given its intended use as a riot/crowd control weapon.

They wouldn't really have that, but instead it would be an M320 grenade launcher (the newest grenade launcher used by the US as of now), they didn't adapt the HK69.

And man the Calico to be fair looks ugly as hell lol.

I was thinking the wrong weapon, you're right. Still, the hk69 is pretty cool looking would be real neat in the game. I'd be happy to code the weapon's inclusion myself, in fact.

Again, you're not wrong there, but what, does NMRiH's weapon catalog have to pass a Liberache test? Heh. Skav's already got the model made, I say give it a shot, see if you warm up to it.

Well,I'll never give it a shot with such weird object that I have no idea how does it operate,or if it exist in the civillian market, but whatever,Maxx makes the call with firearms not me.

I've always thought a scoped and pistol-gripped G2 Contender would fit in nicely. It'd be a sniper rifle that you could use with a flashlight with the trade-off being it can only hold 1 bullet with a reasonably lengthy reload time.
