Slingshots are lethal to human beings, not zombies.

Doesn't make sense. Anything that can fracture or break human muscle tissue and bone is inherently lethal to humans post-mortem. The difference is that a zombie has a dulled sense of pain. That would not have any baring, however, on a high-powered slingshot crushing a section of the skull.

Makes complete sense. If you've noticed, some guns require more than one head-shot to effectively take down a zombie. This means that it is highly likely that the zombie does not need very much of the brain at all. Besides that, a zombie wouldn't get knocked back by a slingshot, making them quite useless in comparison to most weapons. As for crushing a section of the skull, there is no follow through, meaning that if you did destroy the skull, the projectile would likely not have enough power left to do very much.

Never mind the fact that youtube is full of videos of slingshots crushing through legs of lamb, breaking bones, and going through simulated zombie skulls.

You're also talking about high powered slingshots, not the basic ones that would be easily found. Those high powered slingshots aren't cheap either, so thats another thing to think about.

Also that they are probably using things like Steel Balls which is heavier than a rock or so around the same size.

Slingshot would seem like an odd weapon of choice in a zombie apocalypse situation anyway, I'd be running around feeling like bart simpson

How about a Mosin Nagant?

It uses the already existing 7.62x54r that the SKS fires because it's an old soviet weapon.

Lol, the SKS uses 7.62x39, just like the AK and it's derivatives. Also the MN1891(/30) has been suggested before, many times.

Yes, because in the fall of society people would have exactly the weapons they want.

Where you gonna find steel balls made for slingshots?

That indicates to me you have money. A lot of people don't have the money for that. When it happens, everything disappears in a bang. You would have wished you saved every dollar you had for more guns and ammo, but you would know it's too late. God damn, why don't Iget paid for these thoughts? I could have $2k at least for all the shit I've typed. OH yeah, it's so fucking important for me to conform to society in some kind of way, first. That kind of means that I am less shy and just died and was down for whatever. Well, I don't know where to start, but point in case: A lot of people are in the same position as me, but in their own way, forbidding them from saving their good money on guns for something they don't know whether or not will happen, you see? Sure, some will apply for loans in the apocalypse, if they permit it. Much worse, in Martial Law, the military may come looking for you if you owe a lot of money. They could simply take your arse to a concentration camp/FEMA camp for trying to play the banks for some money.

Why even waste the efforts on such a silly weapon? Then they have to go and create new ammo type for it, etc. just not worth it

Besides, the game already has a compound bow which is 10x better anyway. I'd rather see more work put into more practical weapons

like the fubar!!

*Removes sunglasses*

Dear God.

Why am I wearing sunglasses at night!? INDOORS! Ludicrous!

Oh, and that Fubar's pretty awesome too. Finally a melee weapon I can main. Hopefully it will not be as much a stamina hog as the sledge is. And you use every part of the tool as well, that's a nice touch right there.

Slingshots are not guns. They do not have rigid chambers designed to fit only one type of ammunition.

Also, I never said I particularly wanted them in-game. I only rebutted the assertion that they were incapable of being lethal.

You wearing sunglasses in front of the computer monitor indicates you are blocking light rays into your eyes.

I guess you could say...

*Puts sunglasses back on*

It's not worth the eye damage.

YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH, that wasn't a joke.

Yes, but other ammunition wouldn't be very dense, probably not dense enough to break the human skull. My point was not that they would be completely incapable of ending the existence of a zombie, but that you would need a very specific situation for them to be able to. One that would likely not happen in a zombie apocalypse, save for the chance that you have all specified materials readily available and knew exactly where you should hit them. A gun, particularly a .22, can do some major damage to all parts of the brain, even if only one round is fired. A .22 would be likely to bounce around in the skull, causing major damage, and other round would have enough power behind them to send a shock wave through the brain tissue. A steel ball or lesser ammunition for a slingshot on the other hand would likely only crush the skull locally, that is to say in one specific area, and such the part that the zombies do need would have to be targeted specifically with a slingshot.

Also take one thing into consideration: This is a game and you won't have to pay for a slingshot!

By the way, don't you know they perfected sling shots? You can buy one with a wrist band to latch it onto your wrist, pull the ball far back, and it will snap! I heard they could be deadly.

Yes, you won't be paying for the slingshot, or even the ammunition in a situation such as the in-game one, but where would you find it? It's not like you're gonna find a slingshot factory or something.

LOL, that's true. Let's find a slingshot sitting on a table at the park, or in the kitchen cabinet of a house. You could still... LOL... find it somewhere, even in factory. Kind of like some people who found they could use a keyboard to beat the shit out of zombies with in Zombie Panic! Source laughed, maybe people would find it funny to see a slingshot, giving them a "wtf" moment. Like being in a badarse zombie fight, then noticing you equipped another gun upon dropping an item, and it happened to be a Nerf-gun. *Pow* *Rotate* Pow*

I guess I see that point. But at that, you could theoretically find a MP412 Rex or Pancor Jackhammer, although chances would be extremely low. So low that putting them in the game would be stupid.

I'd like to suggest the MP-446 VIKING. As a sport/training pistol, it would be readily available for civilian purchase, and although it is basically a downgraded MP-443, which has seen it's fair share of video game action, it wouldn't be something that people would expect to see in a game. Most people are expecting 15,000 shotguns and a few of the rest of the weapons, it's a zombie game after all. Also, the weapon is already 9mm anyways, no need to make a new ammo type. The downside is that some may recognize it as the Grach(MP-443) and call it a renamed/incorrectly-named weapon because they couldn't just go research it. Personally, I think it would be often seen with a more sport oriented grip and adjustable sights, so you could make it look quite a bit different from the Grach in other games. This, combined with the awesome name: VIKING, makes me want to see it in this NMRiH.

Sporting section of any given store, the millions of houses that have one.

As far as the ammunition being rare: Ball bearings are not rare. Neither are the myriad of other small, steel objects that could be slung.
