I am a Canadian who hunts mystical mechanical deer and cant express my opinion without trying to imply that the person who im responding to is a retard.

I really try reading your posts but this is all I see and for some reason I cant help but make Soviet era Russian related jokes when I read it. I wonder if there is a book about this. Could you recommend anything?

Sorry about being condescending, it's just hard not to be when the person who your talking to keeps responding by reducing your argument to something about mechanical deer. A good book I found was one I downloaded off a torrent called The Psychology of Killing. I don't really know if I could share it or anything, if you want I could e-mail it to you.

And yes we are completely off topic, but I don't believe anyone is bothered, and this is interesting in a weird sort of way.

Edit: The material I recommended is just a few pages, but helps clearly express my points. If you want a good book on the subject read "On Killing" by Dave Grossman.

XENDRID: What you need to understand is that we seem to have a weird hierarchy in this forum which confuses the shit out of most everyone. Everyone is required to laugh at any jokes certain members make and must agree with their opinions. As for the newer members they must be laughed at and scorned, eventually they are either fed up enough and leave or tough it out and rise up through it.

At first I got that impression, then I eventually realized that I was actually causing others more anguish than they were causing me so I lightened up (sidra). I then hit a solid point with everyone except for one member (sidra) who despite the topic, followed the hierarchy to extremes. I'm not easy to get rid of and I thought I made that pretty clear in a few previous posts  Like I said, I think I ended up pissing people off more than they pissed me off. At first I hated Noobbot most of all then I realized how intelligent the asshole really was. Other members just annoyed me (sidra) and that is the reason I've been so emphatic.

How come you never engaged in this elaborate hierarchy? Wait!!! I just hit an epiphany. Sidra happened to be the only member who actually really cared so much about what I had to say. Well except for what I said that had Maxx riled up. Damn my overambitious personality. I was an idiot about that and I was sorry, and still am.

Anyway, Killer I have to disagree with your thinking. Comparing animal instincts with human nature isn't so simple. Human programming is entirely different. You have too many variables thrown into the mix. Emotions, personality....also posturing like Merc said sounds silly. Everything is different in an actual combat situation and the only people who understand it are the people who kill so he and all his friends aren't the ones killed. Also you are referring to times when war was finally getting out of the whole standing in a line and hoping you hit more guys than they do strategy. Yeah I could actually see posture being present in those times, not anymore.

You really can't take teasing, can you? I've never flamed you once - the first post was a joke. I stopped this "argument" posts back and you still can't stop bringing it up, even though you acknowledged this should go to PM's. So cut the crap and stop claiming that you're trying to clean up the forums or call out "antagonizers" when you're the one that's created this straw-man that I've repeatedly insulted you and that it's resulted in the perturbed peace of our forum. When in reality, you go around yelling at people and creating fights and have caused the recent hostility in the forums (me in the Iran thread, the whole forum in Joe's thread, that other guy you called a fag) with no reason except to prove your moral superiority over an internet forum when I have said no such insult to you.

I think the real issue here is that your ego can't take it to not get the last word and that you're convinced you have to prove everyone that you're right. Why else would you drone on about this crap no one else on the forum cares about except me and you after admitting you should stop droning on about this crap no one else on the forum cares about. So I'm done as this should've been over after my first post, I don't really care what you have to say.

And here's a flame so you can keep going: you're a faggot.

I found the lord of the rings movies to be suck.

Shame for you. And I agree, critics are snobbyish assholes most of the time. Ebert does however have a huge knowledge of film and has seen thousands of films, though he does dumb reviews all the time. I was just saying when all the critics hate something it's usually for a reason.

Because we're in third grade, right?

and Lord of the Rings was good, but could have skipped a lot of stuff that really wasn't all that important.

30% comic relief, 10% NEST and the Army going "PEW PEW PEW!", and 60% actual transformers.

WRONG

- Those two obviously BLACK ALTHOUGH THEY ARE RED AND GREEN robots overshadowed most of the serious story element

- DEVESTATOR was taken out by a fuckwit armed with a weapon which does not currently exhist

- OPTIMUS PRIME is god like and can take on two transformers his own size as well as Megatron for da lulz as well as taking out the main villian in the last 40 secs

- Oh jesus more of those fagoty tiny transformers who make Star Wars robot deeply homosexual noises every couple of seconds

- The marines continued to shoot the 10 foot robots even if it did shit all

- That annoying lead character was allowed to live instead of being killed off in the first couple of minutes

The List goes on CAPS CAPS CAPS, rage.etc.etc

The hell? I actually have a theory now. The people (men) who don't like the Transformer movies are very, girly. Think about it. A hot chick like Megan Fox. Tons of action. I mean, regardless of it being the opposite of those award winning movies and all, every single man should have enjoyed this movie no matter what. Instead you are complaining about marines shooting at giant robots and how it wasn't a good example of worthy cinematography. Go watch the Notebook or some shit.

Seriously I'm not even kidding Sidra and Xendrid, take it outside.

I told him to take it to a PM if he continued to have a problem with me.

Yeah and because Trek is a well thought out, deep, complex, and detailed universe where everything is explained. I like that. I love the little attention to details in a background plot.

Star Wars is the epitome of "made up bullshit", make up a race just for the sake of having them in one scene, no real language definition in the alien dialects, complete disregard for all rules of science and nature, and a lot of crappy characters with the exception of Mace Windu, Yoda, Darth Maul, and Han Solo... We can take this to another thread or discuss it on Vent.

When 73% of professional, respected critics say a movie ain' that great.... It probably ain't that great.

Just sayin'.

A great movie is "To Kill a Mocking Bird", or "Citizen Cain", or "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (the original), "The Longest Day", etc.

I wouldn't put Transformers 2 in the same league as those.

Of course you wouldn't. Even I wouldn't...

It is just CGI action which does not make a good film, but it does make a good action film. I saw Transformers 2, it was awesome because of the action and effects, nothing more. If critics don't like it that is great, Micheal Bay is rolling in cash right now while triggering explosions in his back yard because he can.

Good action movies: The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Star Trek, Die Hard, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Star Wars, Seven Samurai, Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Not good action movies: Transformers 2.

Phew, I just came back from Japan, I feel sick, goddamn i hate airplanes.

Fuck you Sidra, if you hate the movie, get the fuck out of the topic.

Same with all you other haters, ITS A GODDAMN MOVIE, ITS PURPOSE IS TO ENTERTAIN, and it has fulfilled that purpose.

You guys don't need to go all ape shit, tracking down each single mistake in the movie, and what exists and what doesn't.

My dad has two friends who are fighting in afghanistan, they agree with what I am saying and have killed people, so yes I have the best possible proof of my argument. Of course some of you might not believe that as this is the internet. And no, I am referring to war in general, from modern times to back in the civil war. That's what i'm trying to explain. Everyone thinks humanity is elevated from other animals, that we're better and different, when were not. We're just another animal, sure we are slightly smarter, but that is just doing more harm than good. When we are in a extremely stressful situation we revert to our animal instincts, read any war book. I'll talk about one that everyone here should at least know about. All Quiet on the Western Front. The main character talks about how when they hit the front line they are reduced to nothing more than savage animals. You aren't supporting your arguments with facts while I am quoting books and real people who have been to war. Infantry combat is posturing! Posturing with lethal weapons, but posturing non the less. Of course its not 100% posturing, but quite a bit of it is.

Yes I know i'm not writing very clearly right now, but stay with me ok?

Oh and Xendrid, don't let everyone get to you.

Also as the the Russians were so kind to demonstrate during dubya bubya too even thousands of men will surrender en masse given the right conditions, like never seeing a tank before, fighting against one of the best trained and most experienced armies in the world while having sub standard equipment and given a few months of training "if they were lucky". Outnumbering the other guys while nice isnt everything. Oh and dudeeaterkiller while firing a gun at deer and paper targets does feel empowering many can testify that when the bullets start flying the "invincibles" are some of the first to go. Oh yeah and "war just being posturing" gave me a good laugh, I pray to Stalin with all my might that it was a joke.

That was an extraordinary circumstance in Operation Barbarossa. But I suppose that most, when faced with the Wehrmacht even with superior numbers, would wither away into virtual nothingness. In that case, one must also consider the general disarray in the Red Army at the time, following the purges, and the fact that they had only recently begun mobilizing assault forces on the front without any defensive positions.

And Dudeeater, I wouldn't consider the psychological effects of warfare to be "posturing". Posturing would be more like illusions; setting up dummy vehicles and armies as the Brits did in North Africa to disguise armor and to give the Luftwaffe and consequently the entire Afrika Korps an incorrect model of the British army and numbers. Posturing would be shouting on the battlefield and other similar things. Suppressive fire and artillery are not "posturing". Besides, another aim of war is to disable enemy armies whether through starvation or direct elimination, neither of which is "posturing" either.

Must be a pretty shitty movie if all it has going for it is megan fox and fancy CGI. Not to say that "simple" movies aren't fun to watch sometimes, but i have this feeling that this wont really be all that fun even as a mindless action movie.

You're 12 years old, you have no idea what war is like.

"Everyone thinks humanity is elevated from other animals, that we're better and different, when were not."

That is just stupid and childish. Other animals have the ability to create something like this

46a86e92df20c1.96624864frogview-gallery.jpg

or this insane phallus building

1.jpg

or this

jolie-gun.jpg

or this which has the ability to destroy the entire universe.

HadronColliderLg.jpg

and other animals write books. humans are the dominant creature on the planet and we have the ability to wipe any other species of the earth if we really feel like it. We don't even try to but we still put animals into mass extinction.

Just because you know someone who is in combat situations doesn't mean you automatically understand and respect it.

My grandfather was in the Korean war. Front lines, he was always fighting. He really didn't talk about anything for good reason. The one thing he did tell me was that when you are in the middle of a fight you don't know what is going on. You don't know if you actually killed anyone you just keep shooting. I actually think it is pretty funny today how "Iraq veterans" act like they are so battle hardened. Granted there are those who actually are subjected to that and all my respect goes to them, but all those other fools don't realize how different the Iraq "war" is from an actual war.

Try fighting against enemies who actually have the same shit you do, try storming beach heads wide open to MG42 fire.
