Left 4 Dead 2

This must be some kind of joke.

First they release an unpolished L4D,they dont release the SDK for it,and now they want to sell the unpolished sequel probably without SDK too.

Thats their pathetic marketing plan, they didnt release the SDK just to sell the modded L4D.

Wats really new?

The improved AID? ...wats there to improve? ...oh it changes the map now, revolutionary technology that must be......the whole game is still scripted.

Melee weapons? ...fuk me,L4D should have had them in a year ago.

Incendiary ammo? ...does such a thing even exist in reallife?

Fire resistent zombies in plastic suits? ...yea lol.

The new special infected? ...straight out of notre dame in the circus called L4D2.

5 campaigns? ...woohoo...wonderful,like they wont get old like the 4 in L4D...

A new gamemode? ...lets just hope that they put as much of a genius thought in it like they did with survival mode...

New survivors? ...i thought that valve couldnt have made a better job with melting a zombie "horror" shooter with a sitcom, but they proved me wrong.

New weapons? ...crazy ass shit there,a full stack of 4 weapons again...

Cmon this cant be real, they cant call this L4D2,they cant charge more than 15 euros for that.

They didnt even make new zombie sounds or music compositions it seems... :o

I completely agree Nuttn

I personally thought the AI Director was a pile of shit...I could play a campaing once then the next time round could tell you were all the bosses would spawn from and when there would be a horde...

Different my fucking arse.

I still think it is fucking atrocious that they would charge £40 for a fucking mod that you can complete in less than 3 hours...4 if you do it on expert mode.

hmm, well its starting to sound better, watching the gameplay though I think i'll get bored of it fast, cause it looks like it plays the exact same.

It does. Did you see the Spas 12 animation when its pulled out? Its the exact sme as the Beneli! I mean yeah sure placeholder blah blah blah. But fuck that shit. But hey we still have a few months for them to pull an assload of features out of somewhere AND update Left Dead like they said they would.

They are updating it...all the characters are getting hats.

Er. They released the Beta SDK, so stop complaining about that.

They're still updating Left4Dead. Chances are, if they release this, they'll consider both of them as a single product like Stabbity said. Valve isn't a stupid company, I don't understand why no one has faith now that they actually released a game in less than 4 years time.

Even if they keep supporting L4D:

-The game got not much support, the first DLC was low in content (unless you consider Survivor mode a real game mode) and after 7 months we still have to get a full SDK and still got no matchmaking 2.0.Do you think that things will get better now that they have another product to take care of?

-The community will split up between the 2 games. This means less players, less servers,exc...

They just released ANOTHER game, which they claim to be the ultimate version of L4D,with all they wanted to put into the game, but didn't put in the first one.More polished, more content.More L4D.

How on earth would this make things better for the old L4D.

In every way you look at it,they screwed up L4D after 1 year from its release. The only thing to see now is how much they will screw it up.

What if, after the SDK comes out, people just mod the shit from L4D2 into L4D? Can't have everything, sure, but I bet a lot could be carried over.

(COPY PASTE)

MODDB has picked up the story

The Mirror

The Escapist

Valve knows that people are angry, and are in full damage control. Even Gabe had Doubts before the sequel was announced

So the team brought their concepts and ideas to create a sequel to Gabe Newell, and even he was skeptical about the idea. According to Faliszek, he expressed his doubts, and claimed this move was against the character of the company. "To Gabe's credit, and he's a great guy to work for, he said if this is what you want to do, if this is what you're excited about, go do it."

So great, Gabe gave the greenlight, even though he suspected it was against the Valve philosophy. No word on how he feels now, but I';m sure he'll show a happy face to the public to get them to go along with it. Even some media outlets at E3 are failed to be impressed. Voodoo Extreme says Sure, there are updates to the Director and the game system. In fact there is a long list of additions and tweaks, but when you sit down and start playing, it really just feels like Left 4 Dead v1.5. The gameplay felt viscerally the same, you run to avoid zombies and slaughter them in masse. It's fun, but not revolutionary. Melee weapons are added, but let's be honest - shouldn't have that been in the first iteration of a zombie game?

Destructoid had this to say. ...And yet, it still felt like I was playing a slightly tweaked version of the first game. I was hanging out with new characters, in a new environment, with a few new weapons and special infected and a new type of crescendo event, but...it still felt almost exactly like the first game, up until those last few moments. My strategies didn't change significantly, nor did the emotions I felt while playing the game. I'm all for new maps and everything, but what little I saw at this E3 playthrough didn't feel like enough to warrant Left 4 Dead 2's sequel status. I'll be interested to see what other new things the game will offer in the coming months before its slated November release, but I just don't feel all that thrilled for Left 4 Dead 2 just yet. It's fun, exciting, and tense, sure -- but it's all of those things in almost the exact same way the first game was.

Again.

It's 5 new campaigns. Five new campaigns. Which means at least 15-20 new survival maps, 5 new versus maps, and it's supposed to be compatible with L4D. All L4D mods will work without having to change anything with L4D2. TBH, if it's like $30, it's more content than you got for $50 with L4D1.

It would be awesome if it's just a big marketing campaign for the new L4D redneck edition FREE DLC.

<_<

Wishful thinking.

Sorry to say that. They just made their move.A wrong one,but they did it.

The community is going to split up.From every point of view you look at this,it looks like a pile of shit....

Oh, and you can read just about everybody's opinion on the sequel here

Just watched a video of a bit of gameplay. The zombie models don't look to good (though it could just be due to the different style), the combat shotgun just looks off, but there was one redeeming moment. The guy in the white suite uttered a line adapted from Arrested Developement, "You're really gonna shoot a guy in a $100,000 suit? Come on!"

Still wouldn't spend full price to play as Gob Bluth.

Umm, can anyone tell me whether is it possible or not that you can get so excited from something, such as L$D@, that you'll get a full erection in less than 10 seconds? Or just excited from anything and have an erection? Has it happened to anyone or anyone we know before? If so, I hope to one day make or lead myself happy enough to do that often... I wonder what it would be like...

Edit: I read all the posts and I also wonder: Is Valve just freaking lazy or they just want a few extra bucks since they know people will buy it anyways?

Screw valve, they are ruining people's anticipation by just choosing to be like Sims (FREAKING HORRIBLE with X PACKS) It should be at least more like Starcraft and its expansion pack, at least that was highly satisfying but this, I haven't even read or looked at it but it sounds freaking stupid. Because they choose to go this way besides turning it into an ACTUAL HUMONGOUSLY POPULAR AND SUCCESSFUL GAME IT CAN BE, BY HOW I CAN IMAGINE HOW IT WOULD!

If I was Obama and I liked video games, I would like what he did when he postponed a baseball game or whatever for a 30 minute commerical of himself. I'd DO THE SAME THING: I'll postpone something significantly awesome just so I can TELL VALVE THAT IF YOU RUIN ANOTHER IDEA OR RUIN L4D'S POSSIBLE GREATNESS TO COME, I'LL SHUT YOUR ASSES DOWN FOR DISAPPOINTING PEOPLE AND I DON'T GIVE A F*&% IF YOU DON'T LIKE ME BECAUSE WE-DON'T-LIKE-WHAT-YOU'RE-DOING!

Joe... Why? Why did you do this?

Because L4D is aN EXTREMELY good idea and they don't see how great it can be!

I'm sorry, Stabbity Style, I just can't allow you and your cute avatar be angry.

In reality, I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY IT! I HOPE IT COMES TO XBOX OR MAYBE I'LL JUST BUY IT 4 COMP!!!

Shame on Valve, still. Shame, shame, SHAME!!!!!

Aint it a shame ruin advantage? Aint it a shame? Aint it a shame to neglect greatness? Aint it a shame? Aint it shame to have no care for L4D when it's got zombies, mass killing, and monsters... or especially 4 player campaign. Aint it a shame!

AINT IT A SHAME!?!!?!?!?! AINT IT SHAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??!?!?!? AINT SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEE!!?!!???!!?!?!?!? SHAME! SHAME! SHAAAAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just typing replacing lyrics to a Kurt Cobain cover by Led Belly, it really does make angry, as first in a very long time...

Joe, you are awesome.

It never gets old saying: Thank you, Xendrid! You can be awesome, too! With... well, the more you be yourself, the more unique or original you are but also know many things in this world are misinterpreted or things aren't perceived clear enough but it's always easily possible to perceive them clearly, but easy can be an opinion.

Edit:

I watched the trailer for L4D2. IT COMES OUT IN NOVEMBER!!! THAT IS PLENTY OF TIME TO MAKE MORE DECISIONS!

I have a question to ask, why is it that people keep blaming Valve for this? I get that Valve has something to do with L4D1/2 but isn't it Turtle Rock that made/is makeing the game? I thought Valve was just the publisher, did I miss something that happened? Am I wrong?

You might be right, actually. Actually, I now get the idea that Turtle Rock is not even a big dev company so they don't give a crap about making an epic game out of L4D so... screw them for not wanting to make it big by teaming up.

No, it's really not.
-Informer (How do you make the quote show people's name so easily without clicking "reply" next to their post? I'm sick of just clicking quote on my bar and cut and pasting it in the quote.)

Anyways, it is plenty time for a sex time, don't you say?

Turtle Rock was the original designer/developer however it was brought by Valve a while ago and it now named Valve South, making it part of the Valve company so more people could work on it more easily ;)
