Texture Artist & Graphic Designer

7 posts in this topic

Hi, my name is Francis (skeletorfw).

I am applying to work in texture art and promotional art.

I've been a freelance digital artist for about 3 or 4 years now, specialising in typography and graphic design.

I have experience with Photoshop (and the gimp)

Premiere Pro

Bryce 6

and more

My experience in games started out with texturing models for Halo 1. Since then I have moved on to texture art and level design (though I have only limited experience in the latter).

I have never done promo work for a game before, but I have a lot of experience in the digital art genre. I am also a freelance photographer and logo designer

Thanks for the application, Francis.

Do you have any examples of your texture work? Can you do thigns like environment textures, such as concretes, tile floors, road pavement, brick walls, etc.? Those are the kinds of things we are looking for.

Your graphic art is nice but I tend to take care of most of that stuff myself, with InZaneFlea :)

It'd be very nice to have another texture artist though, the three of us can't pump ALL of these out by ourselves :P

I'll be able to assist with more tileable textures than props I think (Maxx knows too well how many tileable brick walls I had done in a 30 day period, I was the tile biatch). I'm a super freaking busy guy as I work 2 jobs and i'm working on a project as well...but i've already talked to Maxx and will try and assist with some stuff as best as possible. I'll scope out the pinned thread for what textures you guys need and rock some out in my spare time. If you happen to know the URL for it, or other "texture" threads, pm me em and i'll get at it. I'm not depending on that though (I can do it myself, just not now as I need sleep), just if you have the time.

Okay

I've found some of my textures (unfortunately only 2 at the moment, I'll try to track down more)

Plastered Wall (2048px texture, downsized by photobucket to 1325px)

sandstone.jpg

Bricked Street (1024px texture)

Pavement.jpg

Both images tile seamlessly :)

Any more examples to show would be great.

It looks like that first texture, the plaster wall, would be noticeably tiling because of that dark splotch and the scratches...

How much of these textures was actual painting and sampling? It looks like they are straight from photos. I'm not criticizing, I'm just curious.

I mostly work by going out

Taking reference photos (or photos)

Then either re-painting the reference or heavily editing the stock

(I should have a fully digitally painted asphalt surface somewhere :)

And I can most probably re-edit the plastered wall to remove the scratches)

"Newly Laid Asphault" texture:

I can do a few others if you want me to
