Makin' a real zombie head...

29 posts in this topic

So with 3pi's DOtD head thing, I figured I'd just post this:

brennanzombieWIP.jpg

I'm slowly modifying a life casting I did of a friend.

After I finish this I'm making another mold on it and then I'm going to make a skin out of latex. I also have a skull which I'm going to build up the muscle masses on based on the finished head, it's sort of like an ecorche but a tad skewed I suppose.

Why Am I doing this? Well I'd like to try it out, gain some work experience and have it around for a bit, but ultimately I want to shoot it with a 12 gauge, slug most likely, while filming it to see if I can get a super realistic head explosion in a practical way.

I started it nearly a year ago, but stopped due to time, and then I just started from scratch again recently. I may have even made some mention of it on here, I don't really remember.

I think that's one of the best uses of time I've heard about all xmas. Looking forward to seeing it being blown to high hell, assuming you post the vid here :D.

You're going to film the head exploding for us aren't you? So when we shoot zombies, our heads explode nicely?

I love you.

I have nightmares of Neogod coming into my house and using my severed head as his next project.

See if you can get a normal pic of your friend, and put it next to the finished product. Before/after kinda thing.

I'm definitely going to do that, I'm also just gonna make a couple zombie masks for fun, haha.

thanks all, I do what I can.

Anyway there's a big ass crack down the right side of the face, pisses me off, it got too cold and it seems as though the plaster inside the clay for the sturdy backing cracked forcing the clay apart, no worries my babies, I will fix it, and continue progress on it. But I am pissed and drunk none the less, piss drunk if you will.

Oh, and Iniquity, if you dig this, check out this, I made it last year for a friend who is equally attracted to zombies and gore as I am:

The zombie barbie, a modded barbie with custom box and everything!

That zombie barbie is ridiculously cool. How long did that take to make?

The Zombie Barbie took me a couple days to make, I had done a quick test run on another barbie (Who's arm became one of the finals accessories) and it went surprisingly smoothly, so all and all that was about a 24 Hrs of work over the course of 4 or 5 days, I can't remember. All I know was the organs took the longest as I casted them in latex, and the latex I had was shitty and took fucking forever to dry.

anyway, the sculpt is pretty much done:

I know it doesn't really look different, but that's because it's just a lot of little things and more minute details I added in. Next step is making the mold, and then I get to cast n' paint

Hey Neo, how did you do that zombie Barbie doll? Otherwise, you really got talent. Maybe someday you find yourself from movie industry. :D

The zombie barbie or as brig put it "Blombie" was I just bought a cheap barbie doll at target and took a soldering iron and made woundes, then sculpted some organs out of super sculpey, made some simple push molds out of them and brushed on latex until it was think enough. then with acrylic paint I repainted her, and then to make it glossy just took some gloss painting varnish and painted it on where I wanted it to be glossy. The box I just took a barbie box and pulled it apart and scanned it and just made a new box cover in photoshop based on it the layout, printed it out, in several different pieces and glued it all down, and coated it with a matte varnish. and glued it back all together. Fun stuff.

and honestly, I do have plans on making a zombie film, perhaps in 10 or so years, when I have enough knowledge of these things, and it will be the most epic zombie film series ever, trust me, and it will have the most gruesome realistic effects as possible.
