I can't do it.

I can't wait until next week to see the next episode. I just can't. I need an island. Jeremy will understand.

Haven't they gotten off the damn island already?

Yes and no.

Next Wednesday. Next Wednesday....

However, I will admit, though the show makes little sense in some areas, the premier made ten-times less. Locke is in the past, or... the present-future, or now the past-present, and he meets up with them and...

Lot to take in. Hopefully, they'll explain it in depth, as they do.

Also, trying to explain Lost's backstory to a "non-member" is near impossible. Trust me. I've tried.

I decided to go to sleep halfway through the second episode. Did I miss anything?

Yes you did. You missed a lot, actually.

Also, I know it's impossible to explain it. But every time I've just said "Watch the first two episodes of Season 1 and you'll be hooked" and it's worked on EVERYONE I've done that too, and they're all LOST addicts.

Michelle Rodriguez is still hot.

She looked better than she did in the second season.

It all depends on how you look at it. On an episode-by-episode basis it's kind of like "What the fuck" and seems stupid, but it's meant to all be watched as one continuous long movie. One huge overarching story. I think that's the right way to look at it, and in that light it's brilliant. That's why love LOST.

A couple of my friends think I am very... retarded, for lack of a better word, for watching Lost. "Ooo, there are ghosts and a smoke monster and all this shit. Ooo, no action, it's just them surviving."

These are also the guys who haven't WATCHED the show, so their room to judge is... Yeah.

Anywho, though technically cheating, I did manage to hook someone on the show by watching the hour re-cap show.

Well it is kind of cheating by watching the recap thing but hey as long as they're hooked!

Lost is stupid, there I said it. It's a horrible show that's entirely incoherent. How could you possibly consider a show with no explainable plot good?

By watching it from the start. Not coming a few seasons in complaining about missed information. What's not to explain any way? They crashed on an island and weird shit happens on said island they find other people on the island and in so many seasons it starts to explain where these other people came from and what they are doing there along with a bunch of little mysteries to add to the suspense.

Just as Dman the Rapist said. LOST is a well written, well thought out and very coherent show that is exceptionally creative, well budgeted and chock full of talent

I borrowed the box set thingy off a friend to watch it...i kind of watched like the first 3 episodes over the space of a week and really just couldn't get into it...the characters felt too distant and hard to warm to. The initial prospect seemed intriguing...bunch of people stuck on an island and this island turns out to be evil or something...but I found pretty much all the characters unlikeable and well unreal and judging by the number of characters I'm assuming it's going to go into massive detail about all their lives and then add more characters or something. Kind of like Heroes the first series was good...fun, interesting, different with a moderate number of characters lives to follow but then it just kind of spiralled into a shitstorm of bullshit.

With LOST there are tons of characters, but as they get flushed out they are all very believable and intertwined with one another. It's just a matter of giving the show time to explain it all to you, if you have the patience.

Random thoughts:

The original script had Jack dying in the pilot and Kate taking over as the "leader" of the survivors. Since he didn't, she became an incredibly useless character. Stay here? I don't think so, Jack! Oh shit, I got captured! Jack, come save me so I can fuck Sawyer and perpetuate this bullshit love triangle.

Kate needs to get shot in the face. One of the many benefits of this would be that Jack would permanently revert to "Drunken Asshole Jack", which is infinitely more entertaining than "Saint Jack".

On the Jack and Kate subject, I love how he kept telling Michael that they'd rescue his son when the time was right. Then Kate got kidnapped and it was like "Pack your shit, everybody. It's on!". And they were surprised when he sold them out...

Sawyer's ass would've been lynched within 3 days, tops.

They introduced Nikki and Paulo, and killed them off a few episodes later because they were unpopular (read: poorly written). I would normally have no problem with this, but the episode they died in started off with Nikki doing a striptease. If her first episode started off like that, she might still be alive.

Mr. Eko's death was just lame.

What happened to that bitch they called "The Sheriff"? You'd think someone with an impressive nickname like that would be in more than 1 episode.

Locke and Benjamin are the only two living characters who have been consistently awesome. I'd add Desmond to that list, but he was pretty much the catalyst for the time-travel bullshit. For the record: Time Travel is a brand of glue used to seal plot holes.

I'm done ranting for the moment.

edit: One more thing: Before the show ends, they better explain that giant, four-toed stone foot.

The show has always been about time travel, Weege. I agree in most cases.. In most movies and shows and stories time travel is used to seal plot holes but LOST has always been about time travel.

Also, Desmond is the main character of the shows story, believe it or not. If you look at a character web of everyone on LOST (there are plenty online), Desmond is situated right in the center.

The original plot outline for the show may have been all about time travel, but I don't remember it coming into play until Season 3 (unless you loosely interpret "time travel" to include flashbacks). I know they went on to show how time travel influenced certain events from the first two seasons, but that was after the fact. I would be a lot more tolerant it if you could actually go back to seasons 1 and 2 and see things in the background that were barely noticeable, and didn't even make sense until certain events happened later in the series - and I'm not talking about the insignificant shit they already do ("The clock says '8:15'! That's two of the numbers!!!", etc.). Find a scene from the earlier episodes where Richard is banging Claire in a Dharma Initiative van in the background and I'll shut up.

And I know Desmond is the linchpin, and I find that funny since his back story is incredibly weak. Also, I liked him more when he was mildly insane.

I found his backstory to be strong. I mean, obviously Jack, Locke, and Ben have stronger and more morally aligned (good or bad) histories but Desmond is the dude caught in the middle.

And there are certain things where if you go back and watch the earlier episodes they connect. I've been watching the earlier seasons with my girlfriend the past few weeks since she only just started watching it (She just finished Season 3 today) and although I can't recall any off the top of my head since I had a shitty memory, they are there.

And yeah I know how time travel wasn't obvious in seasons 1 and 2 but it was the underlying point of the show, they just had to establish what was going on first.

Lost might actually be the single most retarded show ever to be broadcasted. They've used every fucking trick in the book twice to keep that damned show on the air as long as possible. The first two episodes were watchable but ever since then it's gone downhill.

Mooooneeyyyywhoooore
