Assassin's Creed (spoiler for people who haven't played)

34 posts in this topic

K so i just beat it the first time (rented it once, but never finished it)

so yea, i love the story, screw the people who said that the ending sucked (even though it was the deepest story ever except for MGS)

the writings on the walls at the end of the game can be decoded, i decoded one of them, and one is a drawing of the huge ground art in Peru (or commonly referred to: The Nazca Lines)

some i think are crossword puzzels, but i haven't found anything on it except that

yona nigu (something like that) i think its a Japanese (island?)

and some letterings are in Japanese (im Japanese, but i forgot my language :P its probably old Japanese language anyways, otherwise it would be too easy to decode)

some were referring to pages of the bible etc. etc.

the point is that people are saying that the new game will take place in the French Revolution, the thing i don't get is that THE STORY IS NOT FINISHED, Warren went to search for those mysterious locations (which you know shit about) and they leave it just at that? added that there is an achievement called "Vision of the Future" which is probably the next game, so why the fuck is everyone talking about it taking place in the french revolution? did Altair step into a magical time device that sent him to that era?

Yes, there are all sorts of religious symbols. However, this game came out like a year and a half ago. Fucking get with the times.

I wouldn't say it's the deepest story since MGS. I did enjoy the story, though, and really thought it was a great way to set up a series.

Exactly - MGS doesn't have a 'deep' story, unless by 'deep' you mean entangled in a never-ending web of conspiratorial bullshit. Right when you think you've uncovered the real storyline, you soon discover that it pans out only to be another layer in the conspiracy.

So it's like Scaryzombie's thought process.

There should be a game where it turns out YOU'RE behind the terrorist attack and you knew it all along, you just never mentioned it so the player is in the dark lol

You horde all these weapons and ammo and health packs and shit and prepare for the big boss battle only to reveal that you are the boss, then you betray all your "friends" and blow up the world. And no gay plot devices like amnesia or split personalities either, just good ol fashion lying through your teeth for 3-5 hours of gameplay.

Deus Ex

Thing is, Deus Ex was actually good and not really convoluted. MGS is all right, I suppose, but it's never been the pinnacle of gaming.

That would be an incredible game.

Some game franchises with the best stories include:

- The Deus Ex series

- The Longest Journey series

- The Fallout series

Deus Ex and Fallout have very believable characters and plots, and are very convincing within the confines of the real world. They have so much content and cover more or less every facet of the story and chronology. So much information that you just want to talk with other people about it because they're both very intriguing.

Longest Journey is just very well written and rather emotionally charged. Simple gameplay but you keep going because the plot and world are so engrossing.

Shut the fuck up fgt.

MGS4 was fairly fun to play but the story was quite frankly... forgettable.

Lol, Final Fantasy 8 is the complete opposite. Awesome story and music, yet very weak gameplay.

FF8 is the best Final Fantasy in my opinion, and generally speaking I hate the Final Fantasy games. They're all crap and most of the stories are shoddy, and the gameplay is consistently uninspired and unoriginal. Final Fantasy 8 had the advantage of having a pretty well crafted story and a few cool characters.

Still, the two best game world storylines go to Fallout and Deus Ex. Half-Life is up there, but there is still much to be explain to properly flesh it out.

Half-Life and Half-Life 2 are very good at storytelling, but they don't really have a story to tell :P

Yeah it's kind of a shame. They have this whole conceived back plot and running story threads but they leave you out of the loop a lot. It's much like Gears of War. I'm sure if the storyline were presented, it would be really great. But it's not. It's next to completely absent.

Thing with Gears is that the sequel sucks major pen0r. After UT3 and the major fuck up that was, I saw this coming (lolololol) like Ron Jeremy. I'm so glad I didn't waste $60 on that utter piece of shit.

I think the story to Half Life 2 was better than 1...the whole earth invasion and dystopian future is a tad cliched and unoriginal but it was done in a good way...the whole earth being killed as well as humanity was a nice touch

Gears of War had a story?

Agreed. It was interesting where Valve took Half-Life after the first one. It could have, really, gone in ANY direction which left a lot of theories to blossom.

Gears of War had a story?

It does, they actually have a rather fleshy and full backstory developed. Something like a novels worth of story... Yet none of it ever makes it in the games... <_<

No idea, but I know internally they have hundreds of pages of story.
