Fistful of Frags beta is out!

Fistful o' Frags.

http://fistful-of-frags.com/

It's a mod for Half-Life 2 set in the Old West. It's not overly complex, but that's the beauty in it... it's very well polished, and it's only in the beta (Though it won't be released to the public till' the 21st). You play as archetypal "Vigilantes" or "Desperado's". All the weapons are either very well done reskins or entirely new models. Basically, the game revolves around "notoriety", a resource you use to buy equipment, and eventually win the game. The team that maxes out their notoriety wins the round. Notoriety is gained through any positive action, mostly... damaging an enemy, getting money from crates, that sort of thing. Where the game really shines is long-range combat, as the diameter of bullets is increased a bit, which makes hitting people easier. Not to the point that it's easy, but a new guy could snipe a player while he's running.

I figured someone on the forums must have registered on the forums at some point, since they had a pretty big community. If no one did, this thread is thoroughly pointless.

Actually, you don't win because of noteriety. Every team has a Money meter, and the whole gamemode is that you collect money from crates around the map. Once you get money from a crate you get an icon over your head that states you are packing gold, then you have to wait for a certain amount of time (depends on how much money you are packing) before you can cash in that money to the team meter. During that waiting time people can kill you and steal the money, and you can take it back before they cash in, but you have to be fast to do that.

The first team to get for example $15 000 (it's different depending on the map size etc) wins the round.

But yes you get noteriety from protecting teammates that are collecting money, by killing/damaging enemies and also for cashing in gold of course. These points are good for buying new equipment and items such as weapons, clothing, extra lives and spurs (sprint).

The game is supposed to be released today on the 21st so go download it now! I've been testing this for a few months and it's a great game.

This game is fucking awesome. It has it's share of problems, but overall it feels really solid. Nothing beats throwing a tomahawk into some poor sap's back. Cleric and I were owning the shit out of everyone and stealing loot.
