Honestly, start making those maps. You ask opinions and do nothing? Mobius and others already told what they want to see (answer is: titties). So grab yourself and open up Hammer Editor and you know......

Zombies lack the motor functions needed to swim.

I could program the zombies to drown if they are too deep in water.

But zombies don't need oxygen and therefore can't drown.

Zombies move, zombies have muscles, muscles use oxygen => zombies use oxygen.

zombies dont use oxygen, they dont use blood either. it doesn't make sense, it's not supposed to.

QFT

The general "idea" that is usually accepted is that the "virus" or whatever it may be uses the body as a host and simply restructures, or builds a new "control system" in the body, think of a plant with roots kind of thing. As Monsieur Infr4mer stated, it isn't really supposed to make sense.

Really, you guys need to make good ideas? Not even: A forest! Is a good idea... I mean yeah it is but how? How is it a good idea?

I will try to give ag ood idea. First I will point out one: ZP's ship map is a great ideabecause when they finally try to leave, they have to go off into an island. Usually, everyone dies. The bad part of that map is how the island is small, there is no food, and the map is over with. The idea of going on to little motor boats and going to an islando n them is awesome but for another map: it's not good enough. I'd want to put a house on that island, or at least something like maybe some reseearch facility or whatever. Then, the zombies can respawn on that island and a trigger can kill the zombies back on the ship so no time is wasted.

How about a map where it is designed where it will force the survivors to leave the area they are at by commanding the zombies to break and enter the areas? The idea is that they must keep moving and if one of you jumps on top of something and gets surrounded, he could be out of luck unless you find a good weapon or spend time beating away zombies with melee, risking your lives especially when zombies are going to to keep coming from behind and all around. This map could be a map where there is no running back; maybe, like Half Life 2 in that night-time creepy deserteed area, you must drop down where you can't climb back up... or everytime a survivor wants to go back to an area no longer needed, zombies spawn so they don't want to go back. This way, there can be more zombies at a needed time for them to attack you without as much overload and lag. Maybe, it shouldn't be in the city.

Maybe this idea where zombies keep you moving should also be a darkened map, like a town with a church, a graveyard somewhere off in the distance. There will also be more trees, maybea bridge with water under where you might find an interesting way back to an area you were once before. Then again, they don't have to have to "keep moving" but as long as they are all in one area the zombies forced them, all the zombies at least 50 feeet away can disappear... and when you jump in to the water, climb out and walk through woods and bushes, or continue swimming, or go through some mini cave, you end up in an interseting area where you used to roam that you haven't seen or noticed before. This could be a map like Resident Evil: you get things done but there are some things in the beginning you can't get through until you find or complete the necessary requirements before getting there. This, if designed with no lazy mind but of interest and desire, and one's own passion that all mappers have, it can become a neat map!

So an overview of my idea:

A map that is usually dark; flashlights are needed and if you can design a torch and matches will take the place of its ammunition, that's cool. It will be a town, maybe: some houses, maybe a bell tower. There might be a concrete road somewhere but you will see a town with litten torches scattered and indoor electrical lights here or there... Whatever you imagine. There will be a bridge, a water pathway, secrets. There will be underground ways, keys to get to unlock other areas. The story is: you all are running away and apparently you decided to go where most made the same mistake and became zombies. You get out the car, as the road has ended and wish to see refuge from the place you were before; and you are low on gas and maybe wish to search for gas. The area is pretty much engineered by fanatics of puzzles and the reasons why they built these secrets to the town also has a mystery that may somehow combine with No More Room in Hell's name, the logistics of the zombies, or hell itself. It could be a map that hints the reasoning or coming, the irrationality of zombies coming... but just connects why the zombies are there. Not with words but with a map. Maybe, you can also add a little tree house! As it is in the night, while roaming through a little bit of woods, you can see a tree hosue with a lantern or torch on in the inside and decide to go to it. The woods aren't big... they are mixed in between so that you don't have to run into an invisible line. It could be a rocky area so rocks can block you or just a higher grassy cliff can. Whatever you decide.

This idea is definitely rushed but jsut an exmaple.
