No ambient sounds on my server

11 posts in this topic

why on most dedicated servers (and my too), no background sounds (ambient) - wind, sounds animals, rain, horror cries and others, but on other rare servers (yet official Dallas), this sounds there its good audible, you can still hear these sounds by creating your own local server, but if you create your dedicated server on VDS (VPS), then no ambient-sound. At first I thought that it SourceMod fault, but even clean server without SM not reproduce ambient sounds. I play in nmrih without music and i need these sounds for the atmosfear, i want my server have ambient sounds

However, i try still install Ubuntu 12.04, maybe this version play ambient sounds

Bad, i could not install Ubuntu 12.04 - very lot of problems at install. I install Debian (9) and hope that this problem will be fix

I will try install CentOS 6, this OS easy accessible to me for installation on my VDS

Terribly, just terribly... Never install server nmrih on centos, many errors, and in end when you start server, you cant connect to for some reason (debian and ubuntu all ok). Forbid install your server on centos in this article (https://wiki.nomoreroominhell.com/Dedicated_Server_Setup), only debian or ubuntu, this recommendation will be useful new admins who want to install server nmrih on centos

Hello, we have fixed soundscapes not working on linux servers. This fix will be included in the next steam release. As for the centos problem, that is normal as valve has only provided engine support for debian based distros. You can possibly get it to work on centos with the steam-runtime tool but that is a highly advanced and unsupported configuration.

Hi, its good news, you very fast working. It will be like patch for game or patch for Nmrih Dedicated Server?

"Added workaround in code commit r4239. Should be fixed, but need a Linux dedicated server to confirm."

If you not have DS/VDS on Linux, i can test on my server and report results

Hello, that is a note from the programmer to the QA team. No action on your part is necessary. We hope to release this update soon.
