Welcome, survivors.

Well, look what washed ashore today.

Can you smell it? That sickly-sweet stench of sea-salt and soggy, soulless shamblers?

Well, breathe it in, because it is my honor to present, after many years of development, the release candidate for

NMO_BOARDWALK!

You've heard rumor of a safehouse not far from here. It might be your last chance at rescue.

How long can you survive, wedged between a horde of the undead and a vast, poisoned ocean?

Well, it's time to find out:

Somewhere, beyond the sea. Somewhere, waiting for me. Salvation stands on bloodied sands. Watching the zeds, that go sailing.

Author's Note: Super special thanks to Demo (Who made most of the custom assets for this map) And Billionlioe (Who also made some assets but is in general a really cool guy). This is, as of now, the final version of Boardwalk I plan on releasing.

Of course, should this map be accepted for inclusion in the game come the fabled October update, I'll be sure that the official version is updated with a few more custom textures, bug fixes, optimizations, etc.

But for now, I hope you enjoy!

Special thanks to these lot. For testing, and generally being cool doods.

Pretty much just completed it solo (couldn't get to the chopper rope at the end) after a few attempts and I really like it but came across a few small problems.

  • The First issue was an unclear objective towards the end of the boardwalk.  The objective was telling me to start a strong fire.
I was unsure for a good while where to go and launched my flares and c4 at the blockade.
Perhaps you should make it clearer that they need to go in search of fuel supplies to start a fire or something.
  • The final issue I encountered was at the finale.  I had comfortably cleared away the zombies on the boardwalk but was unable to jump over the fence to get to the chopper rope.
If the players need to go to the underside of the pier to climb the rope perhaps make it a little clearer to the players.  (I had the feeling that perhaps I blew up a ramp with the c4 I used earlier in an attempt to light the blockade, thus making it impossible to get to the rope)

Anyway as I said great map which I enjoyed as much, if not more than some of the official maps.
Great setting and feel.  I loved the idea. Nice job!

This is some excellent work! Would you be interested in having your map included in the Halloween map pack?

You know it! Just tell me what you need, and I'll provide.

Same issue. 3 runs, tried many ideas (gas cans, flare gun, molotovs, etc.), but can't figure it out. I'm not sure what other fuel supplies I can throw at it.

If you (or anyone for that matter) could please advise, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

EDIT: Figured it out. Now I can't get to the rope for chopper evac on the boardwalk. Going to give it another go (edit: went successfully; unsurprisingly it is possible to escape).

To anyone else struggling with the objective to start a strong fire, to avoid the minor spoiler of finding it it too much, I'll say only:

keep looking for a different path.

To the map developer, I'm not sure if this "start a large fire" objective confusion was intentional or not. If not I'd consider removing all the other gas cans but the one required, and/or making the other objective markers visible on the compass from the boardwalk area (if possible). Regardless, I do really enjoy the map, and thank you for creating it.
