I'm a big fan of condemned: criminal origins and couldn't help but admire the level design. What started out as screwing around copying the geometry ended up fleshed out into an entire objective map. I tried to stay true to the condemned experience, this is more of a melee map with guns in it as opposed to a gun map with melee in it as most seem to turn out.

I think I got most of the technical stuff down so it's just aesthetic progress from here. I'm upping a copy of the test map so that I may see how well it holds up during regular multi-play and make adjustments where need be.

UPDATE: so it seems the update has been put on hold for whatever reasons so I removed the beta content from my map and released it for 1.09.4.

I played with Mr.Halt. Good difficulty. I still can't finish. Door where start point, Maybe should not automatic close.

By the way, Key is pretty ( ^ _ ^ )b

I liked this map but i also disliked the map for some reasons.

Positive:

-The balanced amount of melee and guns giving a 100 % realistic feel. (the way i like objective maps a lot, unforgiving a bunch of melee).

-The Lead pipes hanging on the walls looking like the pipes that would go true seemed very original to me.

-The different paths you could take

-The environmental aspects (the crow in the beginning, watermelon, trainyard, the red emergency,...)

-Opening the gate causing a kind of hazardous effect (personally it could take longer for me)

-The map kinda reminded me of Brooklyn, unforgiving if you don't proceed but also unforgiving if you go to fast

Negative:

-The map is kinda odd in objective followup (i know it's a test map but i had to find a shitton of keys)

-Confusing end (i didn't really know where i had to go, at first i thought i had to go off the train but after searching for a bit i realized it was the front)

-The doors automatically shut down after some seconds (some doors) don't know if this was intentional but kinda feels awkward if you have to go back in and it just shuts down after your back (is it the wind ? o:)

-This map kinda felt short for me and rather easy if you play it wisely out and don't autowaste ur ammo.

Overall it's just a good map and correct me if i'm wrong.

good solid map that just needs finishing off, it just felt a little empty to me, and its very good for probably 2/4 players, might get a bit cramped with 8, i just feel it needs more detail

also small detail is i agree with the doors, make them all uniform in the direction they open and stay open, ill have another go later :)

Thanks for the feedback guys, a major detail pass is in the works. I'll make sure the doors aren't sucky by next update. I'm just waiting for the next content update until I publish the official version.

Nice. I haven't tried this map yet but I saw some of your screenshots on Steam and I also like Condomned Criminal Origins, so I'm happy there's now a map with that tone in NMRiH. I guess I'll wait for it to be a little bit more finished before giving my usual solo run. Either way, great work!

About this:

I'm just waiting for the next content update until I publish the official version.

Is that even going to happen anymore? 'Cause I haven't heard anything in like, millennias.

Why do people assume the update won't ever happen just because it's been a while? it's still happening, literally we are still working on it and it's quite near completion too. No one in their right mind would keep a game updated in like every 2 or 3 weeks whilst being free and requiring a ton of content, that's a beyond impossibility thing. lol

And I've even made this:

Comes to a surprise nearly no one ever knows my channel exists and I actually put up NMRiH shit, disappointed yo. The Joe frowns upon you.

I'm happy to hear things are still in the works and going well. Of course I wouldn't expect updates for a free games ever 2 or 3 weeks, probably not even every 2 or 3 months, but I remember when I first heard of 1.10 almost like a year ago and I was like "okay, any day now, it's gonna come out, my body is ready" and then months passed and at some point I just figured that maybe production just shifted towards NMRiH2 and that was it. But I'm happy if it's still on! I have faith in the devs :D
And I'll subscribe to your channel!

On a side note, I noticed instead that the community for this game is not only alive, but seemingly getting stronger and stronger, and custom maps are flourishing. It also seems that there's an incredible amount of daily NMRiH players here in Asia, especially Hong Kong, Japan and Korea, and many mappers are from these countries (Sabo, Yomo, Mr.Halt, GM127, etc.)

Ah okay. I don't know if the announcement ever said anything about the update being near ever since it was posted, but if it did my bad lol.

Also, in regards to NMRiH 2, it's a different team mostly so focus on both is equal of the sorts. Nothing to worry about.

Played this map by myself, on the third attempt I finished it. I am not that familiar with the Condemned series, but this was a pretty solid map.

  • The door at the begnning was funky, but you said you were going to fix it.
  • I liked the idea of the lead pipes and the weapon locations in general, but there seemed to be a lot of pipes, maybe have some with? unusable pipes.
  • The end was a bit confusing. I pushed the button, walked to the subway, and waited for a minute, but nothing happened. Then I pushed it again and it started driving away and I was like "NOOO Don't leave!!" but then it stopped and I just walked into the train and was extracted.

Those are just small issues, but overall fun to play. I was scared that a horde of running zombies would strike at any time

because it was quiet, too quiet.

I would change spawn of revolver behind spawn location doors... In spawn add possibility to spawn either glock, beretta and M1911A1 too.
