Fix melee weapons reach

Melee weapons reach are wrong, they are too low, especially the hammer which has a reach lower than punch/fists.

Developers should look into this as all weapons have a very low reach.

Weapon reach should be increased depending of the length of the weapon, so a Katana must have a reach higher than a machete and the machete must have a reach higher than a hammer...

I totally agree with this, also zombie arms reach should be decreased, those things got 10 meters long arms.

i like the reaches. people have more than enough push range to stop the zombies from hitting them

Reaches are actually realistic, not short. You just feel like they're short because you're used to the default Source incredibly high reach with their melees which is super bad.

Nothing for me to fix here.

To clarify: we spent time tweaking the distances and weapon arcs, which ultimately matched roughly with the proper length of the melee weapon (in some cases we even extended it quite further than intended). For the most part it works, if you're cautious and careful with your melee attacks.

That's our general melee weapon system there. It's implemented for most melee, save for the Fire Extinguisher and Fists, which use the default HL2 melee code (which is akin to a short range pistol shot)

Depth perception's the real underlying issue here (unless you have an Oculus Rift, which pretty much nixes that problem). TL:DR it can get really really hard to accurately gauge how far your attack goes and where it hits since we don't use a True 3rd Person Rig (see Chivalry Medieval Warfare or Dying Light). Initially we added some swing trails behind the weapons to help with that, and we have some ideas to help further improve user experience with the melee.

Hammer's completely fine, use it more often to even know how well the range is. And the fists do not use the tracer system so they are still stuck with Source's massive melee range. That's why it's sort of better to use.

IKR? When I'm holding a hammer, I know very well that I can reach something farther than my hands can go from my standing point. If NMRiH is about the self in the apocalypse, then I am pretty sure people will finally take penny for penny as they grow more hungry and weary and use everything they can for protection. So that extra foot will mean something to for clairvoyant NMRiH fans and newcomers. If I were "you," I'd fix this fast! It's probably easier than making a damn resume or portfolio.
