Looking for a Song

12 posts in this topic

I'm looking for the name of a song and from my brief browse through the OST I can't find it.

The song is one where a woman is humming at the start (best description I can think of) and it only seems to play when the player is idle and there is no immediate threat.

Can anyone help me out here?

"Last Standing", or something similar. Sounds kinda Muslim-Call-To-Worship-esque almost, right?

Der Vampir unfortunately that is not the song.

Demo, yeah it kind of does in a way.

I'll try record it and upload it for you guys if I can find it again.

The track is called Alone.

You can find it in the game files, under sound/dms/ambiance! (on the .vpk for sounds)

You need something that plays .ogg files, I'm pretty sure you got VLC on you.

It says it's a .cache file what should I use to open it?

The directory I'm in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\nmrih\nmrih\sound

You need to download and install GCFScape: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=169

Make sure to let it associate with .vpk files.

Sorry you don't need to do anything with the .cache files, and apparently we don't have a .vpk for just sounds, actually a .vpk for everything.

Then open up nmrih_dir.vpk on C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\nmrih\nmrih\ and extract the track Alone anywhere (you know the directory for this one), then play the track! (or you can play it from the .vpk itself, you don't need to extract it)

You can use the software to even access other games' .vpk files and extract anything you want.

Have fun.

Thank you very much!

I'd already downlaoded GFCScape but I didin't really know what .vpk to open and the other ones I tried to open didn't do anything so I thought something was wrong with the program.

Oh well my bad.

Once again thank you!

I know I sound biased, but please don't think just because NMRiH has a sound track that it should be done. I was just playing SC2 with youtube on, and there was an instrumental on. I was like, "wow, just before the newest SC2 comes out, they first give an early release the flying upgrade for a zerg unit, and now new music? YES!" In reality, I forgot I had youtube.com on. It's nice not to expect the music when it comes on.

If there was a way you can add a whole lot more tracks, maybe streaming it from the game's internet or Steam into the video game would be cheaper than having to download the tracks just for one essence of unexpectation.

Alone is actually a built off of one of the first songs I ever made for NMRiH years ago. It's a slowed cut of the remake I was working on for the original song last year. Last Standing was originally the concept for an idea where it would begin playing if you were the last survivor alive on the map. Sort of like a dread and drive at the same time for the player.

Here is the near 5 year old original
