Signs of Infection + Searching Bodies

17 posts in this topic

This is a two-part idea, mostly intended to make random teamkilling of low HP teammates less frequent and add some more realism / immersion.

1. Signs of Infection
I don't mean they turn purple or start saying they want to chew on brains. Rather, a quiet and infrequent cough if someone is infected, maybe a quiet cuss under their breath. Something subtle that induces paranoia in other players - but also serves as a way to see if someone ISN'T infected. If they seem healthy and don't cough or falter, it would keep players from shooting each other in the skull just because they're paranoid.

2. Searching Bodies.
Two reasons for this. One, items exploding out of a person is slightly immersion breaking and messy when it comes to item management. Another is that it encourages quick teamkilling. If you see someone with a FAL low on HP and know they have a ton of items, bodyblocking / finishing them off can net you their entire inventory before the team can come over.

Rather, I suggest that when a player dies they turn into a container. The weapon in their hands drops beside them, while everything else is in their body until it's searched for a short period of time, like removing a FEMA bag. This could either cause the items to THEN spill from the player or open a menu like a supply drop.

This means a TKer would have to slow down and turn their attention away from zombies to clear out a corpse, and also adds to drama - if you have to put down your zombified teammate before you can get their items from them. I'm not sure if this would create a challenge code-wise, but it seems like a beneficial and realistic feature.

Mappers can already implement searching bodies into their maps using entities. But I'm not going to lie, every zombie game that has come out in the past 2 years has had that feature. It's beginning to be cliche, but as for nmrih i think it's just most people won't normally run over rubble piles or bodies and press E or whatever to search. (and i'm totally against something immersion breaking like " Press 'E' to search "

Not to mention most of the bodies dead on the ground have got back up and started walking again :P Usually when players die they end up getting back up as a zombie too

Well, that's sorta like saying holding down a button to use a health pack is overused. Yes, it is - but there's reason to have that versus using a medkit instantly (like before the later patch.) It turns really crazy when there's just a pile of unorganized gear because two people died. It's a basic part of the zombie genre having to do squick things like searching dead people.

And I do mean only player bodies, just so you don't get pelted with twenty pounds of 9x19, two melee weapons and a medkit when someone happens to die, on top of all the other listed reasons.

I don't want my character coughing and cursing to blow my cover when I want to discretely turn to tear apart and catch the team I hate my surprise. Additionally, I don't want to be shot on sight just because I coughed.

Make everyone cough; all the players are already asthmatic chain smoking Americans who can't run for more than 3 seconds

I actually like that idea. Perhaps because it'd freak people out. Or perhaps because I was asthmatic and it'd make me feel like a kid again.

Of course, to do it right you'd have to round up all the voice actors and have them cough into their mics. Probably have to get them sick before hand too, just to give it that authentic feel that NMRiH is known for.

Not too far fetched I suppose, I mean, after all, Winter IS coming.

I don't suppose I'm a bad person for doing the same thing all the time?

Any thoughts in regards to searching player bodies when they die?

I'd say it's doable; have to make the player ragdolls server side, and bring up a UI similar to the Supply Drop Crate when searching them

I just want to second the idea of not having items scatter out of a person when he or she dies because it breaks immersion. I feel like NMRIN being what it is, immersion is definitely one of its strong suits over other zombie games.

If nothing, at least add a feature which allows zombies to drop some items on death.

Hello sushi

Well since WG seems it best to keep suggestions locked, has to go somewhere. Listen this friendly fire and team killing stuff is out of control and completely ruining the game. Its like every other game some newbie is hitting me, killing killing me.Dissertation Help  There isn't any punishment except credits. Its not enough to stop commanders from either accidental or intentional team damage. That leaves veteran players with no options but to shoot back ultimately leading to a loss. There must be automatic suspensions as the same as World of Tanks. Even in closed beta I paid to play this game as its form is great, but now WG is falling flat on their face on execution of yet another game. Something needs to be done immediately. Myself I am at the point its not even interesting or run to play anymore, between no team work, team damage, and the lack of player quality. WG start addressing this or its basically going to turn into a WG World of Warplanes FLOP
