Sniper Rifle :o

I am pretty sure a Camaro is a bunch of random car parts. :P

My question is, how often or not will you be able to use the rifle? Ya, on congested city streets, a bolt action rifle isn't the best choice. However, since this is up to the map maker, could you make it up high enough where your safe enough to pop a few heads. Or even on the sparsely populated streets, frankly I'd rather pick'em off at a distance.

However, on the opposite side of the mix, the three game types are barricade, which the rifle will have limited use I would imagine, extermination, which I doubt you want to pick them off at a distance, and escape. Escape is probably the only time I could see to use a rifle, but since your on the run, I do not want to be the one in the back.

Could it be possible to have a mix? Some with scopes, some without?

I thought firearms were supposed to be rare in this mod. I really hope that you will NOT find them often, maybe not at all in a single game. Realisticly all the places your going to find are most likely going to be looted clean, or heavily defended by other survivors who would probably not be too keen on giving you a gun. You should be dancing with joy if you find something that actually shoots something more powerfull than a bb.

And in that case wich one would you rather have? A crowbar or a mosin nagant? I , for one, would much rather take the rifle, as it can be used as a melee weapon too if you become desperate.

I dont think this mod will see much roleplaying but if it would having a gun would put you at risk of being backstabbed just for it incase guns were rare, wich would make the game even more entertaining.

Oh yeah and i would prefer a common hunting rifle than some tacticalmegadeltasniper. The mosin would be great.

Mostly because of these reasons

1 ) Fairly reasonable to use in a Zombie Game

2 ) Extremely Popular Hunting Rifle and sold all across the world

3 ) Many variants of this exist, such as the US army M24 and the US Marines M40 which allow for a broad customization should any Skin's be made for it (most likely it will)

4 ) Very Likely to find one in any gun store than a Mosin Nagant which is now considered a Collector's Item

Sure an m700 would be nice too, i was just saying that i'd prefer a mosin over something as ridiculous as a barrett.

I'd prefer something like a Remington over a Mosin or Barrett. Just like I'd prefer assault rifles and SMG's to be rare. Remington's are common hunting rifles, Mosin's and Barrett's are both military rifles, and the Mosin is phased out.

I'd prefer a bolt action rifle if I was barricade in a building looking out a window, but I'd prefer a smg in the streets anyday.

I wouldn't call it scary, I'd call it a barrier. And in Resident Evil, that doesn't happen anyway. Now, if you were being backed into a corner, it'd be panic time. Otherwise... meh.

A Barrior? i'd call it more kills.

M1 carbine would be a mad rifle, easy to shoot, aim, and semi,automatic but a little out of fashion you wouldnt just find it in any house, it'd need to be in a gun shop or something like that

Sounds like you're more suited to Zombie Master. This isn't a twitch shooter like you seem to think it is. Ammo's rare, so are weapons.

At least from what the devs have said.

I hope it's not too rare, though. There's a thin line between realistic amounts of weapons and ammo, then just annoyingly sparse weapons and ammo.

I heard they were going to implement random weapon spawns, so every new round will achieve different locations for the weapons. Though they also said that some weapons might be in normal locations, but these are likely to be piss poor weapons or Melee weaponry

That could go two ways though. That kinda screws over mappers who have specific places for weapons they want (like a gun shop or police station) and need the guns to be there for specific gameplay reasons. But on the other hand then people can't just memorize where the guns are and have no challenge by the second week the mod is out.

Well, the map creator could always law out particular fields the weapons can spawn in. I think. For instance, a map creator could lay out the entirety of a police station, and maybe the area directly surrounding it, as a place where weapons spawn. That way mod creators still have some say where weapons can be gathered and replenished, but there's still a degree of randomness. This is probably similar to what the devs are doing anyway, since randomly spawning weapons might end up in an unreachable area.

Well, now that I think about it...

have some entity that you place everywhere you want the possibility of a certain weapon to spawn, then link them together through a name in a parameter, then the weapon will spawn at one of those places randomly each time. I don't know how to code, but that shouldn't be too hard.

Good idea, I came up with the same one a while back so it seems we're on the same wavelength in this regard. The idea was to create weapon spawn points in several key locations throughout a map, and then create 2 sets of randomizers. The first was a master randomizer that selected a set of weapons/ammo for the entire map (all predefined for that map) and a second randomizer determined what weapon spawn points actually received the items from that list. In some cases some spawn points would get nothing. So a player who found a knife on the kitchen counter in one play of the map, might return there next time to find nothing, or maybe they'll find a meat cleaver. The key factor with the two lists were first using the master list to balance the maximum "firepower" for a map if players should find everything. The secondary list was meant to increase the random nature of where weapons could be found, thus making maps require a bit more scrounging than the usual "start map, go to location A to find weapon B, ect".

I have no idea whether the team went forward with my suggestions, but I created a nice flowchart for the code diagram, which by using IF/CASE statements supported the logic.

Um i live in the middle of fucking no where and alot of the people around where i live own weapons like m16 , m21, barret 50 CAL. rifle and alot of shotguns i mean if your gonna make a country map put some high powered weapon.

That'd be a rare find during the zombie apocalypse, but I'd pick it up if I saw it. Needs more scoped hunting rifle, though, and above .22 caliber. Never finding a hunting weapon with more punch than a twenty two would be decidedly unrealistic.

I think that when zombie apocalypse there wouldn't much M24's left for free. I mean come on, would drop it for somebody else? Aniper rifles and similar weapons should be only found near soldiers/Special Forces, not like on the rooftop or on the table kindly waiting for you, like in some games......
