The story:
As more and more hellgates open all over the world, the quiet village of Oakhampton suddenly comes to the shocking realisation that even their rural idyll isn't safe from the undead menace. A hellgate is slowly forming in the undergrounds of the small village.
In an attempt to prevent the undead horde from reaching the surface, a group consisting only of the manliest of men (mostly members of the Oakhampton neighborhood watch) is being dispatched into the underground. This is where your story begins.


About the map:
nmo_hellgate is a hardcore survival map (yes, don't be fooled by the prefix) featuring things you never wanted to see in NMRiH such as special zombies, hell portals, parallel dimensions and unlimited ammo.
Your objective is to make it past the 8 brutal waves without losing all your men or the defensive line. Fallen members of your squad will respawn right away as long as the base sector is secure.

NOTE: This map is designed for 8 players and it's extremely hard.

Changelog r2:
  • fixed a bug where wave 8 wouldn't trigger
  • fixed the jump areas on the barricade so zombies won't get stuck anymore (hopefully)
  • removed the molotov cocktail (caused too many crashes)
  • added gascan spawner (unlocks at wave 2, max 5 at once)
  • added maglight spawner
  • added colorcorrection and new sounds
  • added a laser trap (put a skull into the spot marked by the transparent one)
  • added miniboss minions
  • added the JAE-700
  • tweaked the miniboss difficulty (now harder)
  • tweaked the maze diffculty (now easier)
  • tweaked the way the zombie spawnsystem works
  • tweaked the lighting a bit
  • changed the soundscapes a bit
  • changed the spawn system for the grenades (you won't have to press e twice anymore)

What's to come?
- two more waves (to make it 10 waves)
- more special zombies
- a proper bossfight in some kind of hell arena
- more useful loot you can bring back from hell to get the traps up and running (maybe kinda done?)
- make the maze less frustrating and ugly
- randomized portal destinations
- better balancing

10/10 would play again. So intense! Non-stop slaughter! And I'm really impressed with the new types of zombies you've created. Exploding zombies, ghost zombies, custom miniboss etc.

I love that you are doing new map/ new idea but would it no be simpler to play some other fps game? What I want as maps is a real kinda zombie survival no rounds just endless incoming zombies and survive 10 min. The map is for a mode im working on and obviously im running gun menu / unlimited ammo and more hp on the zombies. No survival rounds and no chopper Can you make a map is it possible?

Hmm did you read my idea lol. Great Map and the idea of special zombies didnt even know you could to that. I am really looking forward to where the map is going!

Awesome map! We couldn't get past wave 4 in 4 players, and alone I couldn't get past wave 3.

Unfortunately unless I host myself there is no way to find a server with this map, and my connection can't hold too many people.

Another thing, frame rate drops dramaticaly throught most of the waves, especially when there's fire, which is like, always.

Thanks for the feedback! I removed the molotov so that should help a lot!

We managed to complete r2! All 8 waves! Well, I say "we" but it was mostly me to be honest. My teammates didn't do very much. Escpecially durkhaz. He was lost in the maze all map long...

Absolutly epic map !!!!! Get quite intense and require good teamwork to get throught. Will defenitly play agen.

This is certainly a challenging map. Haven't found a good enough group of players to make it past wave 4 when there's like 50 kid runners. Very fun though. Thanks!

This is a nice map and very fun to play. The maze is easy once you get the hang of it + settings your game brightness to max.

What would be nice if there was a 2nd maze accessible by jumping over the existing middle maze exit into another portal in the wall.

This maze would have better loot:

*a TNT spawning crate. (That can be carried to the base and it will spawn TNT sticks once in a while like the grenade box)

*An extra health box + pills box spawner (similar to the tnt crate)

* A molotov crate (similar to the tnt crate)

* A health box.

I'm planning to add extra worlds behind the portal later on, but it's not going to be another maze. At the moment I'm just focussing on stage 9 and 10.

About your loot ideas: Personally I think TNT is too powerful, so naturally it should be very hard to come by. A deployable crate would make it too easy IMO. It would also be very annoying to carry around a crate in complete darkness. I'm not sure what you mean by the extra health box. There's a medic box on the wall supplying you with unlimited medkits and pills already so I don't think there's a need for that.

As for the molotov : there used to be one in r1, but I removed it because the fire caused too many crashes.

Tell me about it, the first server I played hellgate on consisted of 7 guys spawning TNT, and shelling the portal till they won. Rinse and repeat.

I mean, they had infinite ammo mod to begin with, I guess they just couldn't win without another crutch.

That's classic. Still, my favorite part of NMRiH is whenever this occurs:
