Hey!

I give up. There's no FPS problems. No problems at compile. But the prop limit is not 64k as I thought. The game starts crashing on map load somewhere around 2000-5000 props. I can't really get my head around where the limit is, and how it works. Setting the prop's Collision model to Bounding Box helps a bit. Setting it to Non Solid helps a lot. But it's not a solution. Removing everything except prop_static and the solids sealing the world does nothing. So it only has to do with the prop_static. The map works. But it is very unpolished, and lots of copy pasted content. Also there are some bugs concerning the trucks, but most of them can be avoided by not driving recklessly. I hope someone get some enjoyment from this map despite its flaws. I spent way too much time on it. I will probably not do any more work unless someone has a miracle fix to the prop_static limit.

Story:
Early in the morning you enter the suburb Greendale in search of supplies. You will have to find what you need and escape back out to the highway before the zombies surrounds you. Can you make it?

Features:
large open area map
50 houses with interiors
2 drivable trucks, can be destroyed by zombies
unlimited ammo

Hey. Detail_props are not static_props. It's a problem with the texture that you are using on some displacements. The ones with the 3d grass.

The texture he used has no detail props or sprites defined. The bushes and grass you see on the screenshots are prop_statics placed by hand.

I haven't placed any prop_detail. And the grass texture has no sprites.

It seems the number 64K that I thought was for prop_static is for prop_detail. So I guess it's nothing "wrong" with the map, it's just that you can't have more prop_static than this. =(

We managed to beat it! =) But it took like 1h30min or maybe more. The hardest part was to try and keep players from stealing the supply truck and then leaving it for the zombies to destroy.

Yesterday I found this map on a server and I was able to get on the truck. Today I'm trying it alone and when I press action next to a truck, after clearing the road, nothing happens. Any tips??

Server don't let you download the *.nmo by default. Download it manually from the op.

I did. And in fact some parts of the map worked after I did that, but still not the interactivity with the trucks.

(by the way I'm that guy hosting your Hellgate map yesterday)

The trucks are locked during round countdown and then it's the start of the first objective that unlocks them. So if the objectives aren't working the trucks will remain locked. I suggest deleting all your greendale files and downloading the ones linked in the first post. It should work. Click use (usually e) on the driver's door and it should put you inside. If not, then sorry, I have no idea.

Also a bug that might be worth pointing out: It seems when you are driving you can't see other people's text messages, and they can't see yours. I don't know why. Use voice chat.

That's because there is a distance limit for chat messages. By the way, could anyone tell me the distance limit variable?

Your map is great, but is it okay that server crashes often when someone gets in/out/drives the truck, or this is only my server problem?

UPD:

This is the problem of my server, running Linux dedicated server on Slackware x64

That's what I thought. But Grasn assured me there is no such thing.

There's some kind of bug where someone gets teleported outside but they are still stuck to the controls/camera of the truck. But I have never had it crash the server.
