Classes and/or weapon specilizations

10 posts in this topic

I think there should be some kind of upgrades of some sort in this game. None would give you weapons in your inventory, it would still be the same, but the more you use a certain weapon the more effective it becomes.

Automatic guns would get more ammo per clip, and faster reload speed. Pistols more accuracy and damage, shotguns and snipers bigger clip and damage, special weapons more damage and larger effect. This meaning grenades would have a larger radius, and the bow would have more range. Even if this became just a mod like the survivor and zombie perks in l4d, or a setting the server owner can turn on or off depending on if they want people to use them or not.

This idea comes to me from a mix between Killing Floor and Borderlands, Killing floor's weapon specialties were from classes, while in Borderlands any character could basically get the same strength for their weapons if they leveled their proficiency of them up.

You're probably gonna say if I like Killing Floor's gameplay more why don't I play it. Well for one thing Killing Floor is outdated graphics and engine wise, and not as many people know about it anymore since it's kind of old. I know Killing Floor was made with the unity engine, and not source, but they are somewhat similar capability, and map making wise.

Another reason I think this makes sense in this game, is there's a character named the hunter, why would there be a class named character if there would never be classes? I've thought of this for multiple games, but this is still in the works, and can potentially make itself the second killing floor, they have similar maps, guns and other weapons you find scattered around, and both require you to stay near your teamates to survive on normal mode that is. Please consider this if it is possible, game developers, or modders doesn't make a difference as long as this makes it in somehow.

No.

I bet that's all you read, because you don't like something you deny it without even reading.

Ah well you're a "No." ahahahahahhaha best comeback ever right *sarcasm*

It seems you writing a short response of No in compliance to paragraph's was said to make me angry and just be like screw it, this one guy doesn't like it so I must abandon all hope, but you know what? I just don't care. It doesn't make it in fine, but it's not only because one person said no.

I'm not entirely sure if you're aware of this, but NMRiH is an FPS, not an RPG. Please use the search feature to see just how many threads exactly like this exist and how often this community has to deal with them.

It's a fps not an rpg? tell COD, Battlefield, hell most of the fps have levels and perks. Having levels and upgrades does not automatically make it an rpg, and besides rpg means role playing game, not game were there are levels, technically most games can be considered rpgs, because you are playing the role of a fictional character, but essentially rpg means swords and magic now. Name one fps game made recently, not made by valve that does not have level ups and perks, I dare you.

Name one? You dare me? Here's three:

CS:GO. Not made by Valve. Also Contagion, not made by Valve. And above all, No More Room in Hell, also not made by Valve. Just because other games have perks and classes, doesn't mean NMRiH has to. If you don't like what you're hearing, go talk about it directly to Maxx, who also hates the ideas of perks and traits and such ruining his prized creation.

This has been said before, in a thousand different words perhaps, but it's all still the same.

I understand your point of view, but I feel inclined to point out that all because something is popular, doesn't mean it's necessary, or even right. The devs have made a conscious decision not to include perks or levels of any kind, and I respect their artistic integrity in sticking by that decision. Understand that at this juncture, and perhaps for the rest of this game's lifespan, such elements will be relegated to, at most, server-side modifications.

I am not saying that you should stop making these kinds of suggestions, because that's not what this place is about. All I wish is that you do some more research, and try to get a better understanding of the opposing perspective, before you make a proposition.

As for the rest of you: "No" is not a valid answer by itself; it does not provide any explanation and will only serve to aggravate or alienate the poster. We are above this, gentlemen. I understand this kind of repetition wears a soul thin, but we must prove that we are stronger than the abyss. At the very least, provide links to previous examples (as Demo has done, if a little too late) or a rational as to your belief. It may be a discussion we've had countless times before, but understand that it's still a new experience for a new member, and they might benefit from the debate, or at the very least an explanation. We're not children here, I know you can do better.

1. Clip is for SKS inagme, other guns have MAGAZINE. B

2. Standart magazine for automatic weapons are 30 rounds, just like in real world, so stop break it...

3. Other ideas in this thread = sux...

Well, I agree with this, I mean, could some survivor be a little stronger than the other or could be thin enough to go into a vent and unlock the door on the other side, etc. like in the Revil: Cold blood

:D
