Horrid Mansion

James A. Horrid was a sociopathic lawyer with disgusting manners - he lived with his conservative family reclusively from the rest of the world in a manor in the middle of dense woods. Now with zombie hell breaking loose, some survivors can consider the grotesque mansion a new home, at least for a brief period.

A medium sized survival map with small sub-objectives.

MAP INFO:

Zombies start: 30

Zombie increment: 10 p. wave

Runners start: 5 wave

Kids start: 10 wave

Supply Drop: 5 wave

Total Triangle count: 15629

SUB OBJECTIVES:

- Find a key to open the basement and get the holy relic - the chainsaw

- Switch the generator to power up light in some vital spots and enable security cameras

- Use welder to cut-open a supply stash

- Use an electrical trap to kill zombies on the front door

COMING SOON:

- moar sub-objectives!

UPDATES:

v 1.2 BIG update:

- fixed the naming issue: now all upcoming updates will change the file names as well

- added an electrical trap on front door

- added welder use, opens a supply stash

- added security cameras in guard's shack, now you can check where zombies are >.<

- design and navigation improvement: more clutter and props

v 1.1:

- fixed cubemaps (weird reflections) and fixed the static props with no collision

Hello pinzdesign I am having trouble with your maps nms_testone and this one. When I do this on my dedicated server and join it it gets this message. Is it something wrong on my nmrih or my dedicated server?

I have no idea what might be wrong as i never tried to launch a server tbh, but here is something i have found, pretty similar to your but in CS, also with server stuff - he got his problem fixed by server company

also...those reflections on cars etc, whole white and glittering...was it like this with the shipment? o.o

I can assure you, that it's not the server providers fault. You just tried to use a collision model on some static props even though they have none.

Let's take the sofa for instance:

Kinda suprised it doesn't have one but yeah..

To fix it, just disable collisions on those props the console gave you a list of.

thanx for help >.< fixing it now....do you have any idea why the reflections look bugged?

Reload the map, and if it persists, you have the wrong cubemaps assigned/no cubemaps at all. Make sure to turn off mat_specular when building them.

Your map looks really good. I like that you empower the players by giving them the option to turn on a generator for crucial lighting. Anything that leads to more dynamic gameplay is refreshing to see. Interactive environments are the way to go. Keep it up.
You nailed the visual atmosphere btw.

I really like the detail to the grounds outside the mansion. The interior looks great for a NMS map, plenty of room to navigate the horde through the mansion.

Looks great, can't wait to play it on a full server.

This map has some real promise, I think with a bit of polish you could get this up to standards for submission!

Please change file name.(ex. nms_hmansion.bsp->nms_hmansion_v1_1.bsp)

Client(player) must delete old maps. Because v1.1 have same file name as the v1.

Otherwise client will see error message "Your map [maps/nms_hmansion.bsp」 differs from the server's."

I love this map. Horse statue is nice.

the SOLID_VPHYSICS static prop with no vphysics model! (models/props/army/camouflagenet.mdl) error is where the mapper has set the prop to have collisons enabled when the model dosnt have any collisons, just a safe message

Im pretty sure the extraction preview camera is singleplayer if enabled during the game? becomes multiplayer if enabled on the extraction, if this bug haven't been fixed in those days (but i dont think so)...

I mean not that only who presses the button can see it, wich would be good, but a random guy sees it, could be the one who pressed, one who just joined, one who's to the other side of the map...

A few guys and I just played this map, completed wave 15, everyone froze (as if to expect a cut-scene), then the map changed onto the next map in the server cycle. Is there suppose to be an extraction? We were still alive and the map ended... I don't get what happened.

Really entertaining map though asides from the disappointing end. Thanks!

Sounds like no custom win extraction... A shame since its very anticlimactic :(
