I'm New and Have Questions

8 posts in this topic

Hi everyone, I'm new to NMRiH and I haven't actually downloaded the game yet because i have a couple of questions first. First off, i'd like to know if there's a way to disable or lower the amount of blood. Also is this more open world or is it restricted and has a lot of boundaries? And my last question is if you can use vehicles in the game. I haven't really poked around much and i'd just like quick answers.

1.) Probably not.

2.) It's linear, so the latter.

3.) No, you can't.

1. No

2. Linear pathing and somewhat realistic blocked paths from panicked people that came before you

3. No....too many traffic jams by panicked people

3.) No, you can't.

Just because you haven't seen it done, don't assume you can't ...

** Edit **

Tested and confirmed. You can spawn vehicles and drive vehicles. On most of the maps though, it would be inappropriate.

This is what I meant. I'm not saying it's not possible to have drivable vehicles (This is a source game.) just that so far it has not been implemented as a gameplay feature.

A large vehicle would make for an interesting objective mode map. It would definitely offer a map developer more in the way of objectives. From fueling up the vehicle, releasing the vehicle from it's location, navigating through a war torn street (leaving behind the annoying little kid just to him him cry over the mic), perhaps even the use of a construction crane to lift a large object out of your path, building a ramp with props. The list goes on. Wish I had any talent with hammer. :(

Totally thought of using the railcar in Resident Evil 3 when I read that.

One very popular idea for Left 4 Dead's mod community was a map where you played as a bus or other large vehicle going through a zombie-infested map, stopping for fuel and parts at certain places. You could randomize those places like the paths we currently have, probably.
