More Achivements?

16 posts in this topic

I feel like his game needs more achievements.

I can make a short list:

  • 5 consecutive headshots with the sniper rifle
  • Completing a map alone
  • 100 collateral kills
  • Killing a teammate who hurt you (first)
  • Killing 100 reincarnated teammates
  • Completing a map without killing any children zombies

I'd certainly like an achievement that combines a speed-run with pacifist mode. That's a real challenge there.

I'd also like a few more antichivements (I know of one that's already in-game: Problem of Induction), which I think might be an interesting way of teaching newer players what not to do in a rather snarky manner. And you gotta love snarkyness.

For instance:

  • Backfired: Get killed by a zombie you just set on fire.
  • Fuel for the Horde: Get infected, die, and then infect another teammate.
  • So Close: Fail a core survival map on the last wave or get left behind in an objective map.
  • Anti-climax: Die from an environmental hazard.
  • You Don't Bury Survivors: Kill a teammate who's not infected.
  • If I'm going out, I'm going out blaz-: Die from your own explosive.

Those are just a few off the top of my head. They're not the best examples, but you should see where I'm going with it.

I don't really like the idea of rewarding you for completing tasks that get you killed, but you're right

That's because they're failures not achievements :P

  • Anti-climax: Die from an environmental hazard.

A friend of mine did this some time back, falling off the rope in toxteth. Oh so LOL :D

I agree with snarky anti-achievements, silly things that indirectly teach you what not to bloody do. or alternatively achievements that teach something. i.e: make some form of action a habit.

I'm still waiting for an achievement for killing a zombie with a thrown weapon.

Harder than it looks.

Achievements that require you to kill yourself/others wouldnt be cool. They are more thowards griefing and will cause alot of people killing eachother, something we dont want.

But some are cool, like

  • If I'm going out, I'm going out blaz-: Die from your own explosive.

but Id rather call it "Send me out... with a bang." and have it require you to kill a few zombies too.

That... is genius.

Oh, and I modified the Backfired achievement as well:

Backfired: Create 50 fire-runners.

Should somebody pin this thread? Here's some of my ideas anyway...

  • "We help each other out." -Free 8 players who are being latched on to by zombies (This might not work?)
  • Private property -Hold out in a gun shop till the end of a round (including, but not limited to, gun shops in nmo maps such as Chinatown, Broadway, etc.)
  • Cardio -Get bit while you are still recovering stamina
  • Pills here! -Give pills to more than 8 other players (mm not really sure about this one)
  • Pandemic -Get infected 300 times
  • Sprinter -Outrun a mob of at least 3 runners (not including children)

That's it for now

Some ideas, and some may just be random for brainstorming.

- Sucessfully input codes 50 times

- Call helicopter 50 times

- Complete scenerios/objective/advancement 1000 times

- Time/speedrun for toxteth & completion?

- Kill 250 zombies in bullet time/red hold breath (or whatever u call it with the iron sighted pistols)

- Kill a/# zombie on fire or/also in "bullet time"

- Barricade doors # times

- Weld locks/doors # times

- Listen to the radio

- Kill zombies in darkness

- Turn on lights

- Find a secret

- Shoot portrait, plant, bottle, cupboard, fire, electrocution, swing

- X's around the map?

What qualifies for collateral kills? That sounds like a car accidentally blowing up when you just wanted to drive it through zombies, thus killing more zombies.

I guess you can also consider bullets going through a zombie's body, and hitting other zombies as collateral kills.

Perhaps swinging extra hard with a shovel and hitting another zombie could be collateral.

I would do 20-50 collateral kills for the achievement, because 100 is an awful lot.

Hat Trick: Three zombies, One bullet.

Forget someone?: Ditch your friends, be the only one to be extracted.

Laz-R-Us: Respawn your entire team by yourself a number of times.

Senior stockpile: Reach max weight with nothing but ammo, medical, and support items.

Stir crazy: Break open first door on an objective within 5 seconds. (basically complete first objective crazy fast.)

Psych!: Kill an infected team-mate 5 seconds before extraction leaves.

Seriously m0WNED: Be swarmed for the first time. (Die within 2 seconds of being hit by a zombie by being killed by another zombie.)

Click, click, aw sh-: Die within 3 seconds of firing the last of your ammo.

Well yeah! theirs alot of achievements, except atleast more than half of them are from getting 250-500 kills from a weapon, another maybe 20% with the completing a maps and speedruns which is alright, needs some more variety.... and.... You can never have too many achievements! ;)

The achievement for killing about 1.7 million zombies is a bit too much.

If you do some simple math you can conclude that it would take someone perhaps 7 years to get it.

My son is 9 years old now and he plays NMRiH and loves the game. Just think that some time after his 17th birthday he can yell from the next room, "Dad, I just got the achievement for killing 1.7 million zombies!"

Let us say a person plays every single day for the next 7 years, killing 600 zombies per day

1,700,000 (kills needed) / 600 (daily kills) = 2,833 (days to make total kills)

2,833 (days to make total kills) / 365 (days in a year) = 7.7 years

____________________

Now the best way to get this achievement is to kill about 2,500 zombies per day (Wow!), so you could complete it in about 1.9 years.

A person would need to have almost no life at all to get this achievement.

Killing 100,000 zombies in any capacity seems more reasonable, and then perhaps 250,000, but 1.7 million.....
