Friend and I cannot connect to the same public server on my network

7 posts in this topic

Like the title says...

My friend decided to bring his laptop and wanted to play NMRiH at my house.

I forwarded my ports and I'm able to host a game, thus allowing others to join; he's the only one that cannot...

Tried joining a public server but once one of us connects, the other cannot get in. Keep getting an error about connection refused after 4 tries or something like that

Already forwarded ports on my computer and his computer and it's still not working...

Anyone have a solution?

Are they connecting to the private local IP, or the public IP others connect from the Internet (or is it only LAN?)

Have them all connect to the Public IP after a server restart.

Your friend can use console command connect yourpublicserverip:port

uhhh wut?

how does that even relate to what i'm asking?

i fixed it to where if i create a game, my friend can now join but if we wanted to go into a public server (still on my network), only one of us can connect; still getting the connection tried 4 times error.

you both didn't really answer my question...

but thanks, i guess...

I'm having a very similar issue to your OP.

My brother and I have our computers hooked up in the same room next to each other, and we can't connect to the same public servers. If one of us connects, the other one can't connect and is timed out after attempting to connect 4 times (this is what the game says).

Hm...I've been experiencing something similar with listen servers., except in my case the distance is much further (4 or 5 blocks). Funny enough, I played with some people under the same roof and it works fine. Maybe you guys who are playing under one roof should set sv_lan to 1?

I have no idea about my problem thou ( ._.)
